The first thing that I thought as my brain started working again was that I felt stiff and heavy. Then I finally opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw explained the heavy part. Bram was in a chair and he fell asleep with his head on my chest. The way he had his head made it look like he was listening to my heartbeat. He looked so innocent with the small puffs of breath coming out of his mouth.
I could not stop myself from laughing when I saw the two round white things sticking out of his nose. He was wearing a thin sleeveless top that showed off the bandages that covered most of his chest and arms. He started to blink as he slowly sat up. My eyesight was blurry but he was close enough for me to see some details. He had bags under his green eyes and part of his face had light bruises from the beatings we got.
"Ash! You're awake!" He sounded nasally as he smiled.
