I really woke up early, so I could cook the foods. Yesterday night, I made the Red Velvet Cake—as I baked that for the first time, first, I couldn't bake it properly because when I actually taste it, the flavor are too much and I'm having a hard time how to do it properly!
I ran out of the flour bag a couple of times because the first thing I did was burn the bottom and the chin was rough. Second, it's as mild as ice cream. Third, it was all right, but the inside is runny and a little uncooked. Fourth, there's too much food coloring to get more colour rather than red. Fourth, I were making the loaf good, but the cream was very sweet.
Seriously, I feel like I've been through the tenth test just to perfect the cake that I really want to make. It was easy for me to watch, and when I was just about to make it I suddenly become a garbage dump.
It's just five o'clock, but I'm already awake. Aling Rosa said last night that 10:00 a.m. is the time for my sister to come back home. I was thinking of waking up early so I could prepare all the food.
"Aling Rosa, I'm going to cook and prepare the foods."
"Are you sure?" she's quite uncertain about it.
"Yes," I rest assured.
I put on the apron and began to prepare the ingredients that I would need. I don't need any more help with this part because I know how to do this again. I actually devote my time to this, even though it's tiring to do it.
It often consumes my energy.
"And finally, I've done now," I gasped as I wiped the sweat of my forehead with the back of my hand.
I looked at the wall clock and my eyes widened when I realized it was 9:30 a.m. in the morning. I quickly took away the used things, I placed it all in the sink. I just called Yaya to place them on the dining table, and then I rushed quickly to my room to get ready. When I walked into my room, I just remembered the apron I've been wearing until now.
I removed it immediately. I looked in the mirror and saw the exhausted face, the sweat dripping down my forehead, and the messy hair. I forgot to tie up earlier because of the excitement.
First, I just fixed myself a couple of minutes. I finished less than 10 minutes right away, because I want to be the one to approached her when she comes home, and that's on my plans already.
"Are they already there?" I asked them about it as soon as I got down.
She shook her head.
I saw that what I had prepared on the table was ready for her. Gold balloons are attached to the wall. It's lovely to look at, as there are some flowers on the side of it.
It's labeled 'Welcome Home' at the top and it's her nickname name below, Raj. I smile because even though I'm the one who thinks of it all, it's lovely. I'm so stunning, and I'm glad I didn't expect it to look like this, it's pleasant to do it again with the one you love and cherish.
I hope that even though it's just like this—nothing fantastic—she still likes it. If I could just get out of here, I could even buy stuffs that would be very pleasant.
I went to the kitchen to get the cake in the refrigerator. I put it in a box to look like it was bought outside, even though I was the only one who made it.
It's written, 'I Miss You' and my name on the side of it. I didn't put a candle on it because I forgot to tell them to buy some. Yet even without a candle, it still looks very nice.
I looked at the clock to see what time it was. It's now 10:00 a.m. But they're not here yet.
'Maybe they've just had take longer on road or maybe in the Hospital,'
Even Aling Rosa and the Nannys are right behind me. I'm near the door where she was going to enter while I was holding the cake in both of my hands. I am ready to surprise her.
Earlier, we were waiting for them and I think the food are starting to cool now. They're too long come back home, the cake I carrying was a little too much for my hands, because the cake I made wasn't that light.
"Their duration," I whispered.
"Ma'am, why don't you eat your breakfast or just sit down while your waiting for them, it looks like you're in need."
I didn't notice her. She was about to take the cake in my hand, but I immediately avoided it and gave her a strained smile.
"I'm fine Yaya,"
"Are you sure? It's already passed 10:30 in the morning and you haven't had your breakfast yet," she looks like she's worried about me.
I nodded.
We waited few more time for them to come home, it was midday, but they weren't here yet. The food on the table is cool, so I'm sure it's not going to taste good. It's tasty to eat when it's hot, but when it's cool, it's still good, but it doesn't like the same taste.
I shrugged my shoulders and then I decided to sit down first because I need it. As I suddenly heard that car horn outside the house, I was just about to take a seat in the living room. I lifted my head and looked at the door in surprise. Suddenly the happiness came through me.
"Get ready!" I was happy to tell them.
My disappointment earlier was completely replaced with happiness and excitement.
'This is it, this is it,'
I went back to my former place and had a huge smile on my face.
I could hear her footsteps coming up to the door where I was nimble. I raised the cake which I was carrying when she opened the door. It even covered my entire face, which causes not to see her. I looked in and greeted her.
"Suprise! Welcome Home!" I shouted with excitement.
Obviously she was withdrawn because of what I said but later she also recovered. I lowered the cake, so she could fully see my face.
There was a huge smile on my face as I looked at her. I looked at Momma who was just came inside and immediately she was stunned by us. She grinned then came up to me and kissed the side of my cheeks.
"Good afternoon, Momma,"
"Uhm... what's happening and why is there more like this?" she asked in surprise but there was still a grinned on her face.
"I intend to surprise her," I said in a low voice.
Suddenly my sister's question prevails "What is this all about?"
Momma stepped aside so I could see her face, her face was blank looking at me but I could see the confusion all over her face probably because of the surprise we made.
I thought something unexpectedly so I just ignored it.
"Surprise!" so I approached her, and shown her the cake I made.
She blocked her two hands instantly so it nearly slipped onto my hand. I was suddenly worried because if it slipped in both of my hands because of what she did it might fell to the ground.
"You don't like it?"
She rolled her eyes on me, then she mocked some words against me.
Sadness ate me up because of what she did, it seemed as if she had ruined my plans for her, unexpectedly. Does she really doesn't like it? Does she not want my surprise for her? I know it's not pretentious but it's stunning and pleasant really.
Instead of showing her that I was suddenly affected by what she did, I forced myself to be happy because of her return.
I gave the cake I was holding to Yaya Anny, and then I pointed to the food I had cooked earlier that it was cool now because they were too long to come home.
"Let's eat," I said inviting them to the dining table. I first walked on them and I know they're behind me because of their footsteps. When we reached the dining table I first give my attention to the food, it's still look the same. "Let's have our lunch together, again?" I faced them.
I was about to say they'd have sat down when my sister suddenly walked away. My eyes welled up because I didn't expect that. What I still think is that she's going to be excited because of the amount of food I've prepared, I even cooked it myself, even though I didn't know anything about cooking.
"Go!" Momma said.
I followed her as soon as she walked upstairs. I walked quickly to catch up with her, because it looked like she'd shut the door on me once I couldn't reach her.
'What's the problem?' I consciously asked myself.
"Hey, Raj!" I called her but she didn't even stopped nor turned her head on em.
What's with her?
I walked even faster just to catch up with her, but no matter how quickly I did, she was still faster. She almost closed the door, but I stopped it right away.
"What!" she loudly said.
I bite my lower lip, preventing it from becoming emotional in front of her. "Is there a problem with the surprise I made?"
"You didn't get it?" she raised her brow.
My forehead creased I didn't get it.
She opened wide the door of her room. "You know what?! you're the reason I've stayed there in Hospital for so long, and you're also the reason why I'm not allowed to go out with my friends!" then she thundered.
I was startled at what she said, and she sounds like she accuses me.
"What do you mean?"
She deeply sighed, anger was written all over her face. "Don't act like you're innocent,"
I don't understand what she were trying to say, and I'm not acting like a innocent one.
"Don't ever go near me—I am mad and it's all because of you," she suddenly slammed the door.
