[Alex's POV]
I opened my eyes and saw darkness. Darkness as far as I could see. A familiar darkness, I once saw in my memory. My body felt heavy as if a mountain was pressing down on me. I couldn't move my hands and feet. I couldn't even move my head.
In time, a sense of numbness washed over me and I felt sleepy. I was about to close my eyes when I heard a familiar voice pierce through the darkness.
"Alex! Wake up, Alex!"
The urge to sleep was overwhelming, but my Master was calling for me. Her voice carried anxiety, sadness, and despair. She kept on calling out to me. Suddenly, a heartbreaking wail followed.
I felt something warm slide down from the corner of my eye, and knew that I was crying. I wanted to shout. I wanted to tell her not to cry, but the embrace of sleep took hold of me.
"M-as-te-r,"
It was only one word, but it took my everything to say it. And then, there was no then.
