Chapter 7 - Yue Ying

Abbie found herself sitting on a couch inside the Dorm Head's room. She initially thought that bringing Alex inside the girl's dormitory wouldn't pose any problems. However, she underestimated the Old Hag's strict compliance to the rules of the dormitory.

After locking the gates, Yue Ying invited the two of them to come with her to her room. They were there to discuss Abbie's "illegal smuggling" of an underaged boy into the girl's dormitories.

Alex was currently eating a cake that the aloof Empress of the dormitories had personally baked. Yue Ying was looking at him with a cold expression, however if one were to look closely there was a slight curve at the corner of her lips.

"Um, Dorm Head, I already explained Alex's current situation," Abbie said anxiously. "Until his parents find him a place to stay, he will be staying with me for the time being. Can you please turn a blind eye for a few days? It will only be a few days, I promise!"

Abbie was at her wits end. If the Dorm Head made a big fuss about her "smuggling" activities, it was possible that she would be kicked out of the dormitory. Although Alice said that the company was willing to provide her with a suite, if she asked for it, she still planned to stay in the dormitories for the time being.

"Miss Matthews, you know that visitors are not allowed to stay in the dormitories past curfew hours. Also, Alexander may be young, but he's still a boy. What do you think will happen if rumors started to spread?" Yue Ying said without turning her head to look at Abbie. She was in the midst of using her handkerchief to wipe away the chocolate that smeared the side of Alex's lips.

"It is my duty as Dorm Head to uphold the integrity of the gir's dormitories. Such actions won't be allowed without my permission. Also, if you really want Alex to stay here in the girl's dormitories, you need to get the approval of the School Dean," Yue Ying explained in a very reasonable manner while holding a glass of lemonade for Alex.

"Can I call you Alex? Although I don't mind calling you Alexander, I feel that Alex has a more intimate feel to it."

Alex didn't say anything in reply. He looked at his Master and waited for her say in the matter. Abbie nodded her head like a chicken pecking rice. Right now, they needed to get on the good side of the Dorm Head so that she would back them up when they ever asked the School Dean for her approval.

"Big Sister, you can call me Alex." Alexander smiled sweetly.

Yue Ying nodded her head. "From now on, you can call me Big Sister Yue. Understood?"

Alexander once more glanced in Abbie's direction. The latter once again nodded her head without hesitation.

"Big Sister Yue."

"Good Boy."

Yue Ying still had that cold and aloof expression on her face, but for some reason, Abbie felt that she looked less intimidating.

'As expected of my Alex! Even the Dorm head is no match against his cuteness!'

Abbie was giving Alex a thumbs up in her heart. If they could pass this ordeal then it was highly possible for her Little Hero to permanently stay in the girl's dormitories until the end of the school year.

"Um, Dorm Head, Alex and I needed to go somewhere early tomorrow. Could we continue our discussion after we return?" Abbie felt that the time was right to bring back the issue of returning to her room. It was now quarter to ten and they still needed to meet Alice when morning came.

It was only for a brief moment, but Abbie felt the temperature of the room became a bit colder. The Dorm Head was looking at Alex with the same aloof expression. Alex, on the other hand, was rubbing his eyes and yawning from time to time.

Although Heroes didn't need to eat, they still needed to sleep. Alex was a growing boy and it was way past his bedtime.

"Very well, you can go. However, we will resume this discussion tomorrow," Yue Ying replied offhandedly. "I will have to report this to the School Dean as well. She will have the final say whether Alex will be able to stay here or not."

"Dorm Head, can you put in a good word for Alex?"

Yue Ying didn't say anything but looked at the young boy instead. She wanted to pinch the boy's cheeks and feel whether they were as soft as they looked.

"Alex, do you want to stay here?" Yue Ying asked the sleepy boy in front of her.

Although Alex was sleepy, he understood that his Master wanted him to be on good terms with this lady. If that was what his master wanted then he would definitely do his best.

"If possible, I want to stay here because Big Sister Yue is here."

"Good." Yue Ying patted Alex's head for a few seconds before standing up from her seat.

"Alex can stay for the night."

"Thank you, Dorm Head!"

"Thank you, Big Sister Yue."

"Mmm."

------

Alice had just returned to her suite when the phone in her pocket suddenly rang. One quick look at the mobile screen told her who the caller was. She pressed the button to accept the call and greeted the caller with a cheerful voice.

"Hello, Dad? Why are you calling me so late at night?"

"Alice, is it true? You finally found a candidate?"

"Yes, I finally found my candidate. How did you know?"

The man on the other end of the mobile phone chuckled. His name was Arthur, Alice's father, and one of few people who were overseeing the world of Edea.

"Aiden told me about it," Arthur answered his daughter's query. "He said that you chose a very interesting candidate."

"I knew it."

"Will you be bringing her to the company tomorrow?"

"Yes, I will," Alice answered. "Would you like to meet her?"

"Of course I'd like to meet her," Arthur's chuckle could be heard from the other side of the line. "I want to see the candidate that my daughter has chosen."

"I'm going to pick her up no later than ten tomorrow morning. If nothing major comes up, we will arrive before eleven."

"Alright, I'll be waiting. Goodnight, Alice."

"Goodnight, Dad."

Alice hung up and breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she had found her chosen candidate. She would be lying if she didn't feel any disappointment when Abbie drew one of the weakest heroes. However, Alex made her feel like she could expect great things from him.

"I'm really looking forward to the opening of the Gates of Edea one month from now," Alice muttered as she gazed outside the window of her suite. The city was like a collection of lights from way up high. "May the Gods of Eleison watch over us all."
