Thinking about it, he immediately communicated with his Ancestral spirit to return, before he spoke again.
"My prince." He said in a manner that suggests he was protesting. Although he had already called back his ancestral spirit.
"I know... Sally. I know that you're angry, but just let it slide this time, for me. Please?" Prince Idubor spoke calmly. "Also, remember she said she would do anything and she has indeed done something." As he spoke, he held Sally's hand briefly, before letting go of it.
Then he walked towards the injured Igbins, who was still lying on the ground of yellow soil.
"You. you're a strong warrior, you could have beaten Sally even if he didn't call out his ancestral spirit to fight you instead." Idubor said to the young warrior, complimenting his strength.
"What! That invisible human is his spirit power!?" Igbins, who was so shocked by the revelation, blurted out.
"Yes. Your colleague, that one you killed not too long ago, was also surprised to learn about it.
I wonder why you guys can't release your ancestral spirit. Although that guy you killed earlier, seemed to have some knowledge about it.
I was planning to interrogate him later, but you killed him before I could do so.
Now, however, what I'm offering you is the chance to join my team." Idubor said flatly. not wearing any facial expression.
Igbins kept silent for a while, he glances at the people in his team, "Humph, losers!" he said in a low voice, then he looked at the prince, hesitating for a while before he answered.
"Okay! I'll join your team. But I have one question." He said.
"Ok, what could that be?" Prince Idubor asked in reply.
"What is your plan for my people, will you let them go? Or do you also plan to recruit them? " Igbins asked, nodding sideways and stealing a glance at his team members
"No, not really, I was thinking of letting my people slaughter them next.
Do you not approve?" The prince, Idubor asked. His face was still straight and expressionless but suggestive of a goad.
"No, I do not have a problem with slaughtering them. I was going to suggest it to you." Igbins's responded sharply, he didn't even contemplate the reply.
His thoughtless response was evidence that he meant what he said.
"Ok." The prince said, concluding. And started to walk away.
"My prince wait!" Igbins however, called out to the prince, who then stopped to look at him again. " What about her? what are your plans for her?" Igbins asked, his eyes were fixed, staring at Sonia.
"Hmm. Well, I do... not... know... I have no plan for her." The prince hesitantly said squinting his eyes at Igbins.
He got the feeling, that something was up with Igbins.
"Ok! if that is the case I also have one request. I want to have sex with her." Igbins blatantly declared. Checking out the prince's reaction. He wanted to be sure the prince was not interested in her.
'Humph. Hu–mans... I always knew you're a pig from the first moment I saw you.' Prince Idubor silently thought to himself.
However, he then responded to him.
"I'm not going to stop you from doing whatever you want to do with her.
However, you'll have to join to eliminate your people." He replied, Suggesting they commence the slaughter first. Before calmly walking away from igbins.
He walked back to where Sonia was still kneeling and crying. Squatted beside her. Then whispered to her ear.
"You know. You seem to be a very lovely girl.
ah..." He sighed. "But I always wonder, why that your dead colleague was willing to yell curses at you without ever pausing for a breath. Even though he was dying, and yet, he was always gasping for air every other time he tried to speak to that one." The prince said, Pointing towards Igbins.
He was referring to the time when Ogen, even though he was seriously wounded by Igbins, and was dying, still managed to pour insults on her, when all she was just trying to do, was help him.
"I guess, he must've hated you. Even though you tried your best to save him.
Life...
People are not worth so many efforts, you know?" He concluded.
Prince Idubor then stood up from her and went to whisper something to Sally.
Who then whispered something to the Other eight warriors in the prince's team.
Then Almost instantaneously, the eight warriors rushed and surrounded the people in the other team.
Igbins also jumped up from where he was lying down and joined them in the beleaguer.
However, this was not a blockade for surrender but a means to efficiently carry out an indiscriminate slaughter; A massacre.
And so it was
Without any warning at all, Igbins who was still the leader of his team jolted, and dashed towards one unsuspecting young man with short dreads.
Fffft!
He thrust his spear wildly and aimed for the neck of the boy. The boy never saw the attack coming, so all he could do was stare petrified as the spear aimed to stab at his neck.
However, It was just one stab with his spear, and the young man's head went celebrating the air—Rolling and spinning as the eyes shut themselves, the severed head spurted and splattered blood all over.
However, Igbins didn't stop there.
Fffftt! Fffftt! Schluk!
He bolted by three more young warriors, and he successfully sent two more heads skywards before resting his spear In a young warrior's heart.
"Igbins! What are you doing!?" One super shocked, young warrior managed to ask.
Sonia also reverberated the question from where she was standing...
"Shut up! And die!" Igbins roared back to the young warrior but ignored Sonia.
He charged at that warrior.
"This Igbins is something. He kills people without the slightest remorse. He was shameless.
He even kills his people with so much vigor and enthusiasm.
Humans must be nothing but flies to him.
Does he even have a heart?" The prince, Idubor murmured to himself. Shocked by what he was witnessing.
He didn't participate in the massacre. And was just standing close to where Sonia was kneeling.
He soon backed the scene of the carnage.
The others except one also joined Igbins in the slaughter, and within a short while, that group of young warriors became dead bodies that littered the ground.
"They killed them all. They killed them all" Sonia's eyes wide open with disbelief. "No. Why did they kill them? You! why did you allow them to die.
They are also humans. they were my friends...
You let them die.
And I was beginning to think you were kind." Sonia muttered to herself and the prince.
Her eyes were red but there were no tears left to cry. She noticed the prince was facing away from the bloody bloodshed.
When the prince had kept true to his word and let Igbins live, she started to have a good impression of him. She even surmised in her heart that the prince might be a good person.
Little did she know he was going to whisper.
"I'm sorry you lost your friends." The prince, Idubor, said in a low, cranky voice. That sounded genuine.
He sent his left hand, quickly, to wipe away an unexpected teardrop that had rolled out from his left eye.
Perhaps, he had not anticipated that the Bloody scene would be so disturbing When he made that whisper.
"You're not sorry, you're just an evil killer." Sonia rebuffed the prince and ran forward.
