Chapter 4 - The Open Fields

"AHHHHH" I yelled, he's throwing stones at me. What a crazy dude that Tom is, two times I was close to getting caught, no matter how skinny he looks. This person has abilities that can rival the royal guards of Alnestra, but there is one weakness I observed throughout our encounter. He gets tired very quickly, I see it several times whenever he bends the Earth. He gets slower and also gets white. Unsure of why that is the case, but his marvelous green-yellowish skin gets whiter every time he pours more power into his ability. I can use this weakness to my advantage, if I can make him waste enough energy, I might be able to get an advantage over him.

So I went into action, I was still getting hit by flying rocks and the terrain shaking. I stretched my hand and grabbed a branch, it broke off, luckily the tree was old so it didn't bounce me back, but there is only one path I can take with a branch trap, I need to get close enough so I can taunt him and then destroy his stance by hitting his legs with the branch. It is a long shot and probably stupid, but I don't have a real weapon, and I am still curious if he dodged my spear or blocked it back in the camp.

You could tell a lot about a person with how they handle an instant problem, I slowed down so he could get closer to me. Tom took the opportunity and made a slider, he created the slider with a bunch of rocks smashing each other. For how amazing it is, it terrifies me, because there is no way I can get away from such an advantage in mobility. Tom made three quick hand gestures, I instantly knew what it was. He used that technique several times before. What it does is you get trapped by rocks forming all around you, making the volcano head, and you are inside of it. I threw a bait branch, a smaller one I got for the plan, I knew he was expecting it and my guess I was right, he destroyed the branch. Immediately continuing with his technique, but I was already in melee range.

"curses low lander," he said, and suddenly he made a rock wall. I was completely blocked away from his body. "Damn it. I didn't plan this" I said.

I went for his back, but he was already there waiting for me. He threw a rock the size of my head. By instinct, I blocked the attack with the large branch in my hand. The branch broke in half, but I was safe with only minimal damage to the face. I then abandoned the plan and went right down to the area I thought was a swamp. I heard a concerned yell by Tom, didn't hear it, and kept moving forward.

Something was weird about this swamp, I was running all night and it just became afternoon. Without my military stamina, I would have died from exhaustion. This swamp was very quiet, and that's when I saw the light coming ahead of me. 'What in the lord's name— is that a light?' I got closer to it, and closer until my view was blocked from the light and I couldn't see anything besides the bright white light. Then everything came back to view, it was an open field, a big terrain of land with tall grasses and larger rocks than the ones in the river. It was empty of trees and water, and it looked beautiful, and I have been calling many things beautiful, but this place is nothing like back in my homeland.

Until, when I looked beside me, I saw the bright gem again and this time that head was bigger than storage wagons. Very firm and the color of brown dark, it was a lord shitting golem, and this time it was glowing blue.

I immediately froze, for what I know about normal beasts, I think if I don't move a muscle they might leave you alone if you don't move. Please work, but it did not. The golem raised his arms ready to smash me, golem's hands were glowing blue just like Tom's body, but he glows orange-brownish, like the earth. 'BANG,' a wall of earth blocked the incoming hit in my direction, it was Tom I am sure of it. "You idiotic low lander, what do you think your doing!?"

"Well thank you for asking that, for your information, I was running away from you for dear life!"

"If you obeyed, like a good servant this wouldn't have happened, now move aside. You won't be able to fight blue golem in your state."

I did as he told me, I very much did not want to fight that beast. I hid beside a bunch of rocks forming 'good enough protection. I observed the battle and it shocked me how well Tom was fighting that Golem beast, he first caught the golems left arm, and then pushed it to the ground, unstable the golems stance without touching the huge legs of that beast. Then Tom created a cone, with a strong point on the head, and went straight to its torso. The golem used its right arm to break the cone into pieces just in time. I could hear Tom cursing from his near-close attempt at killing that blue golem. This time he went harder on the golem, making multiple small cones and piercing it through the golem's glowing gem on its head. It looked like the golem was blinded, and then Tom with a fierce stance used his arms to rip the golem in half. An unbelievable scene, as I never saw such a small species do such things. Tom was really powerful.

While I was observing the fight scene, I was grabbed by a large hand. By my guess, it was another golem who came behind me without my notice. "Curses!" I said, this can't be happening, I can't be killed now, not after what I witnessed. Tom quickly saw what was happening in my corner, and used those big rocks I was hiding behind to smash it into the golem. It worked and the golem was crushed under the rocks, but he was still alive. He was trying to get himself free.

I hit the ground pretty hard, but I didn't have time. I needed to do something about this golem, "take out the shard!" said Tom from back there. I heard it and went for the thing he called shard, I used my hands as I didn't have anything else. It didn't work and for some reason, the shard was boiling. I used a nearby rock to crack a small part of the pocket that holds the shard. Luckily I was successful and it came out and in an instant, the golem went motionless, probably dead.
