Chapter 543 - Orreth, the Wrathful Lich

The Synced Nexus being between Orothus and Harreth let out another furious howl. Kan'na lifted a hand to shield her face from the shockwave it let out. The wrath was hair raising, but she knew she couldn't stand like this!

Teleporting next to Mira she quickly used several magic circles to move the constant flow of blood to find the runes. After finding out how exactly it came to be she ripped the runes free in the proper order and Mira's regeneration quickly restored his body.

Whatever method Orothus used to inscribe runes had made Mira's body consider them as non-injuries. Thus they weren't healed by his immense regeneration. This was clearly something she needed to study, and perhaps the answer in undoing the mana rejection was through this very method.

Upon having been fully regenerated Mira held a hand to his heart and let out a shaky breath. Slowly the scales within the lake of blood began to subside, and the red lake turned still. Manifesting his axe he placed it on his shoulder, "What now big sis?"

"This is something else, continue to work with me. Once we find an opening we'll take him down."

"Okay!"

"Magus. . . and the brat!", the fused voices of the two undead rang out.

Having been fully realized the Synced Nexus being pointed a bony finger, their soul head twisting about with anger, "You've crossed the line! You'll die here!"

< The new being makes its presence known! >

< The Prominence of Soul Controlling Magician and Raging Cavalry Knight are in sync! >

Kan'na flicked her wrist and several magic circles formed and surrounded her arm. Reaching out a palm she formed the barrier she used previously against the Dulluhan to Orreth. Two prisms inverted to each other. Orreth raised a hand and pressed against the shield, but this time it didn't shatter!

A grin spread across her face. It was as she expected! Although she hadn't solved the riddle behind the Lich's mana rejection, she didn't need to! Once Mira had shattered the Lich's skull and it was replaced by Harreth's soul the runes causing the rejection were incomplete! In exchange for this power the Lich gave up the one thing stopping Kan'na!

Was it confidence or anger? As the Lich stated they would've been fine due to the Territory effect, perhaps once Synced Nexus ended the Lich would recover the fragments of his skull. Right now however the Lich was vulnerable to mana!

"Mira! Take him on and deal as much damage as possible!", Kan'na ordered.

There was still an issue! The power of Synced Nexus was one that could surpass the difference in Stages if fully realized! Just the normal power boost was comparable to that of Berserk Skills, and thus the two undead were entirely on a different strength level!

So! The power to surpass Stages against Mira the one with strength that surpasses his own stage! With the addition of Kan'na, with magic that transcends dimensions! A battle of those who surpass the standard!

Leaping forward caused the lake of blood to surge in response. Flicking a magic circle to the side Kan'na stopped the wave from splashing on her. Orreth opened a palm and purplish energy manifested. Pushing it forward Orreth smashed past the barrier. As he stepped on the ground Mira appeared and swung his axe. Immediately the head of Orreth flamed in rage, "You!!"

"You keep saying that!", Mira found it silly.

Raising a hand Orreth reached for the axe to stop it, "Your power will fall short!"

The axe made contact and the raging flame seemed to flicker. The once emotionless skull now turned to shock as the power coursing through his bones failed to stop the axe! Crushing his arm into several fragments and the bone shards scattered across the floor.

Mira landed and swung his axe within an inch. Slamming it into Orreth's ribs. The force shattered them to pieces as Orreth flung to the side. The silence coming from the Lich was nearly deafening. As Orreth recovered he felt the bone fragments flying back into their place due to the Territory's effect.

As Mira charged forth Orreth immediately changed tactics and shot forth purplish energy at him. Dashing through the energy Mira attempted to close the distance but could not entirely do so. Orreth was now incredibly cautious against Mira's strength and was keeping the distance. Yet as he retreated backwards his back slammed against a magic circle.

Several spheres launched forward and connected themselves to Orreth's joints. Trying to pry them off was fruitless, as the boney fingers simply passed through the spheres. Mira flipped and threw his axe forward to which Orreth launched himself sideways to dodge. His movement didn't get very far as the spheres suddenly increased in weight. The drastic change was enough to throw off Orreth, but not enough to stop him.

Mira flipped and pushed off a bit of mana. His mana control was sorely lacking compared to that of Givale's, and it barely was enough to act as a foothold. Making up for the difference with his strength he launched towards the stumbling Orreth.

Purplish energy raged forth but Mira passed through it. His clothing was shredded and burnt but he regenerated the damage so was essentially unharmed. Extending his hand he recalled his axe and swung it forward!

Another magic circle appeared and the spheres tugged Orreth's limbs to connect to the circle like magnets. As his skeleton stuck to the magic circle several chains appeared and restrained him. Mira's axe landed from the teamwork and shattered his sternum. It was at this point that Orreth surprisingly burst apart, his bone fragments spreading across the battlefield. Kan'na frowned and immediately formed several magic circles.

The Key to All allowed her to instantly create magic circles, but when it came to experimental spells she still had to figure that out. Thus the only thing slowing her spells was herself, a sort of limitation she was more than happy to accept! Fetching flying parts was simple, and thus was executed immediately!

Two magic circles appeared on each fragment and they hovered in the air. They spun gently as she gathered them. They shook violently and Kan'na recognized this to be similar to how Harreth escaped her barriers. Just as she came to this conclusion they broke free from her spells and regathered elsewhere. Orreth reformed and another howl escaped from their combined self.

"What are you?!"

Mira stepped next to Kan'na, "He keeps repeating the same thing."

"Probably lost himself to anger. Keep up the great work, we'll figure this out."

"Okay!"

Several clicks and whirs could be heard as Torch cut down another undead. Although his machinery wouldn't stop until they were broken or out of power, it was clear that their viciousness wasn't enough to combat against the Territory's bonuses. Even if he set some corpses on fire it was only a matter of time before they rose back up.

A tripod robot stepped precariously forward. Its body was made up of a gatling gun, three barrels spun a bit before firing. The projectiles shredding the lower level undead. Once its carried ammunition box ran out it would stumble back for a reload. Using this method he was able to hold them back, but his stockpile of ammunition was being eaten at a rate he couldn't maintain. The physical combat robots were enough to take on several undead, but it was the more elite generals and captains that were proving troublesome.

A massive armored undead stepped forward and swung a massive club, carving through a sizeable amount of robots. Torch clicked his tongue-or rather made the sound of the action-and pressed a button on his forearm's interface. Stepping up to the undead was one of the roundtable knights. Wielding a spear the two began to clash. Two giants in the literal sense contesting with each other.

Another undead slipped past and Torch flicked his wrist to ignite a mana blade. Slicing through the undead he added them to the pile. It was getting ridiculous, at this rate he could make a blockade with the piles of undead.

He paused, that wasn't a bad idea! Immediately some of the robots began to take the undead that weren't burning and toss them ahead. Slowly a sizeable wall was being formed and Torch had it ignited. As more undead stepped over the wall they were lit aflame. It was a horrifying sight to see such unwavering undead move through flame as if it wasn't there, but Torch remained unwavering to the sight.

Nodding at the sight Torch decided to return to the back lines and make sure the supply was running smoothly. Maneuvering through the army of robots he approached several carrier spiders and checked inventory. It was at this point a sensor picked up movement and he turned. An undead brandishing an oddly broad machete was running towards him. It look sorta like a long butcher's knife, and looked like it was incredibly poor in quality.

Summoning his mana blade he swung at the undead and watched as they dodged the blow and connected the machete with his chest armor. A metallic twang rang out. Torch gripped the arm and stabbed their body with the mana blade and severed their shoulder.

< You have attacked a player! >

< Due to the nature of events you will not acquire any PK value! >

Torch was stunned, a player?!
