Chapter 38 - The Catching of A Sorcerer

The party immediately headed towards the coordinates. Swinging Reckless had noted that, that was the last place they have seen her, and that was two hours ago!

It was a bit odd that the guild hadn't done anything to stop the sorcerer. This only helped Akiol though, that meant it would be easier to confront the sorcerer.

It took fifteen minutes for them to arrive sadly. It would've taken less had Akiol used his slime form, but then his party members would be left behind.

"Alright spread out, search around a three hour distance around this place. If you see her try to stall for the rest of us." Akiol commanded.

After their voices of confirmation everyone went different directions. Akiol headed towards the northern direction, transforming into his slime form he used [Roll] to increase his speed.

One pleasant thing he found out was that [Roll]'s speed increased with his agility stat. Meaning he was always a tad faster than his normal form. While he could used the speed buff of [Aura Boost] he thought of it as a waste. Such a move should be treated as a trump card. So he decided to use it as such.

The party searched around for an hour, Akiol sent a message to the group chat.

Akiol: Increase your search distance if you haven't already.

Wrock: Aye!

Tilia: Already did

Yielya: Not as fast as some of you so you're gonna have to give me some more time.

. . .

The search continued for another two hours and the party nearly gave up for the day. Until Wrock sent a message.

Wrock: Hot on tail, here coordinates.

The poor writing made it clear he was busy. The rest of the party ran towards the area.

Akiol was closer to the place, including his superior speed to the rest of the party he soon spotted a sprinting Wrock.

Looking towards the direction Wrock was facing, Akiol saw a purple haired sorcerer jumping across the tall trees.

It didn't take long for Akiol to catch up to Wrock and he immediately asked, "Is she flying?"

Wrock shook his head, "If it were flying then it isn't for very long. If anything I could count it as gliding, or something like a double jump."

"Keep chasing then, I'll try to cut her off."

"How're you going to do tha-"

Before Wrock finished his sentence Akiol used [Aura Boost] purely in speed. With a near quadruple boost he soon left Wrock in the dust.

As soon as he was in front of the sorcerer he used [Leap] and aimed a kick in her direction, to stop her from moving forward.

His plan was thwarted however, for a small magic circle appeared and blocked his kick. The rebound caused him to spin out of control and crash towards the ground.

Landing stylishly Akiol clicked his tongue, this really had to be Kan'na. She was the only type of person Akiol knew to fight like this. Quick usage of magic circles to cause unexpected effects. It was often disorienting to spar with her.

When it came to magic battles in his world the party usually counted on Kan'na. Not knowing what magic abilities the enemy had, and what the would be able to do was a frightening thing.

Now he thought about it Kan'na truly deserved a grateful thanks. Being only magic user must've been rough. Even though the magic circles she developed allowed faster casting, it didn't mean it wasn't hard.

He quickly sped up, not intending to to miss this opportunity to catch the sorcerer. Using the same tactic as last time he once again aimed a kick towards the sorcerer.

When the circle appeared to defend Akiol used the rebound to the tree the sorcerer was jumping to.

Clearly the sorcerer wasn't expecting the move, in a haste she turned to jump towards another tree.

She fell short however.

Falling towards the ground she hastily attempted to fix her positioning. However Wrock was already there and caught the sorcerer pinning her to the ground.

Akiol jumped down, "Nice catch." He complimented.

"Nice pass." Wrock replied.

"Let me go!" The sorcerer shouted.

"Flip her over then, let's see if she truly is Kan'na." Akiol said.

Wrock spun her around. Akiol took a look at her face. Smiling he said, "You've caused some trouble this time Kan'na."

Wrock put Kan'na down, and she dusted off her clothes. Grimacing she complained, "You guys were a bit violent considering I am a girl."

Wrock defended, "Hey, I would've treated you the same way of you were a guy."

Akiol added, "Same, I don't discriminate or favor."

Kan'na made a face, "Well now you caught me what is going to happen? In need of gold or something?"

"Your jokes are bad as ever, come you have some explaining to do." Akiol sent a friend request and teleported to Silverflight.

Once he was there he added Kan'na to the chat group, to his pleasant surprise Kan'na was also the username.

Akiol: Found her, meet in Silverflight.

Tilia: Yay!

Yielya: Oh thank you, no more running!

It didn't take long till everyone was seated. He cleared his throat and turned towards Kan'na asking, "Care to explain why you have a whole guild after your tail?"

Kan'na sighed and explained, "I stole an item, it's called the Seer's Eye."

She pulled out a small crystal sphere, the size of a baseball.

She continued, "It's a one-time use but, it allows to user to see where a player of their choice is with no other limitation. I overheard some people talking about it so I took it, intending to use it to find one of you."

The party reacted, Yielya was the first to ask, "No limitations? Isn't that a breach of privacy?"

Kan'na nodded, "Even though it's a consumable it is very powerful. I didn't think it was very good for a guild to have it anyway."

Akiol agreed with that, while stolen objects could be returned, not many were willing to return the object if it was powerful or expensive. This was a cause of war as well, usually the greater reason.

"So in short, we gotta get rid of that?" Tilia asked.

"It would probably be best." Kan'na replied.

Wrock pointed out, "Could we destroy it?"

"It's indestructible, I already tried."

Akiol gestured for Kan'na to hand it over. Once in-hand he took a look at its status.

[Seer's Eye]

Allows the user to view the player and their position for two minutes. One-time use.

He asked Stars, "Think you could break this?"

'I know I am a powerful sword and all, but there are many things that are immune to damage. At most I could probably store it somewhere.'

"Store it huh?" Akiol mumbled.

Having an idea he used [Absorb] on the eye. His hand surrounded the ball and soon it disappeared.

Kan'na reacted, "What was that? That was an indestructible item!"

Akiol sighed and told his story. Only once more would he have to explain this.

Kan'na took it well at least, she then turned silent staring slightly downwards. This was usually her pondering state so the party didn't disturb her.

"Well that makes that done." Wrock said.

"Well not exactly, we still have a whole guild to deal with you know." Akiol pointed out.

Tilia interjected, "We are going to fight a whole guild? It hasn't been a month in-game yet?"

"No I think it has been a month, right?" Yielya asked.

Akiol and Wrock shrugged, no one knew.

"We won't have to fight if they are willing to talk." Akiol mentioned.

With that he sent a message to Swinging Reckless.

-I have your item, I wish to negotiate with your superiors.- Akiol
