Books; an immaculate and unique creation of mankind. Filled with tidbits of knowledge and a variety of genres to pick from.
Novels are the bane of boredom, and encyclopaedias is the solution for many who needs to study.
And libraries are safe havens for people who likes to be alone, fantasising of worlds where they were the main characters.
That was how everything was back when the four were Gods. Imagining how interesting it would be to become the heroes rather than just as patrons of them.
And now for the four of them it was like a dream come true! "By the way, what books are you going to read anyways?" Paucity questioned Enigmas, who was a reading fanatic and a complete lunatic for books.
"Mainly manuals. Probably basics of magic and the difference between their system and ours." The fanatic was playfully strolling by the aisles, tracing his fingers on every book he could reach.
He was captivated instantly when he saw a peculiar title amongst the Magic aisles, third section; in the shelves that was presumably the 'S' shelves.
Enigmas let out a chuckle, he could not help but cringe when he saw the title, "Sealing Magic: Mysteries Of The Ancient Mages, by Raion Pandre. How amusing."
He sat down and began to read patiently whilst speedily flicking his eyes at every words and actively using the System to take pictures of the pages to jot down for himself later.
Back when he was Agnostos, the God had a fascination towards Sealing Magic. It was the reason why he was able to seal away another God's and his own former divinity with such ease.
'Sealing Magic is a rare form of magic that is used, in its most basic form, to apply and isolate as well as close and open spaces. Old texts obtain testaments that this particular form of magic could be used to seal another's powers within an object or better yet, souls.'
Enigmas' expression became grim. He realised that doing so was tantamount to deciding the fate of a being's life.
As he read on he was surprised by how innovative and incredibly terrifying the author's creativity was.
He, who was born in an era where Sealing Magic was lost, had been able to construct how Sealing Magic had been used and could be used through testaments that had yet been verified.
"This guy is a genius. If he had the chance to use Sealing Magic I personally believe he'd be able it to destroy the world with it." Enigmas muttered to himself, he was unsure on why the author wasted his entire life on some lost magic.
It was an inscrutable fact, that even as the former God of the Unknown, he did not know.
"Hm?" As he stretched his body he then began to notice the attention his group was getting.
More specifically the other three, "Eh? Despite being so foolish, I guess they have their merits being so attractive." He has no choice but to accept this, yet he felt pissed off that he wasn't being paid attention to.
Sighing heavily he began to walk towards a group of boys, whom were lusting after Amara. "Don't even bother." His words were blunt and cold, the boys temporarily stopped their actions and faced him.
"What do you mean by that?" Said one boy in a white sleeveless shirt, his freckled skin seemed strange with his muscular body. "I said, don't even bother."
"And before you go absolute apesh*t on me, you might want to look at her hands." He pointed towards her delicate fingers, which the boys obviously did not focus on.
"Yeah? What about them? Her hands are so delicate and pale."
"Fingers fragile and yet so nimble."
"Her rosy cheeks and small sharp nose."
"The gorgeous auburn locks, braided and bound into a bun." The men fantasised and imagined what it would be like to touch her fair and smooth skin.
They were absolutely smitten, "What? No, what the hell? One of her fingers has a ring on them." Enigmas shivered and almost choked in disgust.
"Yeah, it's very pretty." All of them had not even heard a single word from him at that point, so he just ruined it for them.
"She's married." The abrupt and straightforward words shocked them, they all collectively faced him and spoke in sync.
"Huh?" They were dumbfounded and on the brink of collapse. Confusion gnawing away at them. "She's married. That ring of hers is a symbol of their love and faith, (even though she cheated on her first husband with her second one)."
Enigmas lied to them, knowing that the men would be devastated by this fact, it was all true and he even quietly added how the real ring of faith came to be, it was half true and some were made up.
The men were no longer smitten, but were now tearing up. They had just found themselves a beauty to worship and run after, and yet their hopes were crushed in an instant.
"Well, onto the next one." Enigmas left the crying men to their own devices and went for the girls, this time with an even more vicious smile.
....
"Oh my, do you see that blonde haired guy over there?" A noble lady with short strawberry blonde hair pointed towards Malady, clearly infatuated with him.
"Lena. This is why others call you a hopeless romantic. You'll never date someone with this kind of behaviour." A young boy with a naturally permed light brown hair was unsurprised by her actions and had even lectured her on it.
"Callum. You know me so well, and yet you still do not understand the woes of a woman." The girl named Lena dramatically posed, evoking an eye roll from her friend.
"You're no different from those girls. I heard that they've slept with half of the males in the Mage and Cultivator departments." Callum was a rumourmonger and was not afraid to make himself known, after all who wouldn't want to be known by the hottest girls in the city?
"Hah! Those self obsessed lilies can barely dent a mark on Strength Testing Pillars. Honestly, I'm so ashamed of being in the same department and even classes with some of them." Lena whispered grudgingly, she hated the group to her very core.
"Yeah, the only thing going for them is their figures, which will eventually wear out in about 30 or so years. Maybe then they'll start to learn how to cultivate properly lest they grow ugly before becoming a hundred years old." Callum agreed on the fact that they were very pleasing to the eyes, but that was it.
All it took to take them out was a single punch and they would suffer great anguish and pain just by having their face disfigured.
"Wow, they sound like total b*tches." All of a sudden a voice came from behind them. The two swiftly turned around and saw a young man in black clothes.
Lena let out a muffled yelp, so that none could hear her scream. "Who are you?!" Callum was on guard, he was a mage so he was very sensitive to the energy signatures of others.
To be able to sneak up on him meant that the other party was either above his level or barely had any energy at all.
He realised that it was the latter, but even then his detection skills were not to be underestimated.
He was still extremely suspicious, and had even erected his defense mode as he was still wary of the boy.
"Whoa there, I'm just here to tell you something interesting." The boy grinned widely, giving the two an ominous pressure.
"Uh..." But before they could ask what he meant by 'interesting', he started his rant, "See that blondie over there? That's Malady, an interesting fellow that is confused by his own sexuality. Too bad his first love became a tree, whilst the second sadly got hit by a flying frisbee."
"What's a frisbee?" Lena asked him with a strange look on her face, "Well it was more of a stone disk, but whatever." The boy replied unhesitatingly, which somehow gave the two a strange vibe.
He continued, "That lovely lady over there is Paucity. Her jealousy knows no bounds and if you ever cheated on her, she would make your life a living hell. Honestly I have no idea why they made her into a Horsewoman of Apocalypse in the first place."
At first his tone during his second line terrified them, but then eventually an astounded expression appeared on their faces.
"And of course, I obviously have to talk about Reaper. That guy can be mostly seen around funerals and has a stomach of a giant. I mean if you've never seen him eat; then you totally should." The two shook their heads slightly in shock, they had no idea what the boy in front of them was even talking about.
It's as if he was speaking an entirely different language, "Then, who are you? And why are you telling us this?"
The boy smiled mischievously, playing around with the bracelet on his wrist. "I am Enigmas; I came to you two so I can delegate a special mission. Spread rumours of me and the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. If you succeed in your mission I shall come back to grant you a rather wonderful reward. Adieu."
Enigmas spoke clearly and carefully, emphasising the main points and his tone changed several times from somewhat of a sultry one to a playful tone.
His laugh sent chills to the duo. They wanted to reject it, but they had no choice. After all fear was the best way to discipline others.
And they were his first victims. "So, how far can these two go with their trifling gossip?"
