Letti didn't encounter any hindrance on the way out of the building without knowing that another breaking news had shook the building.
Eunice Louve broke the Magnanimity Code for a reason not disclosed.
There was an attempt to contain the information, but this did not stop people from talking.
"Hey, did you hear? Something happened earlier."
"Yeah. I can't believe she lost her temper. Ha, she's quite good in pretending. Such a two-faced b*tch finally got what she deserved."
"Hey, don't speak too loud! She'll hear you!"
"What she gonna do? Run to her uncle? Even her uncle won't spare her this time. Let her hear us. She's f*cked any way."
Eunice ignored the whispers and put her chin up, sneering at the them inwardly.
These trashes will dance in glee to her misery and treat her like a joke!
What vicious animals!
Let's see if they still have the guts to show their face in Randell soon. She's the brightest mage in Randell! Everybody yeilds to her power.
She was sure that her uncle will merely punish her a slap in the wrist like every single time.
"Look at her running away. She can't act like a princess now."
Their jeering laughs still pricked Eunice's ego deeply, sending hot tears to gather in her eyelids. She was clenching her hands so tight that it was trembling and pale.
Ugh, all of this is that porter's fault! She was utterly embarassed and dragged since that porter appeared.
'I'll make him understand why he should've stick to his lowly place!'
...
Letti drop by the fresh produce vendor she first met in Randell.
"Oh! Boy, It's you! It's good you survived. Your teacher must be proud." There was this vitality radiating in the woman's face similar to the others in the street.
Letti smiled thinly. "Yes, teacher is proud." She was beginning to feel strangely pressured from this imaginary teacher she just made up.
"So, are you here to buy information again?"
Letti shook her head as a no. "I'm here to buy some potatoes and ginger."
"Then I'll give you my freshest potatoes and ginger." The woman generously began picking the good potatoes and gingers for her.
"By the way, did you know who rescued the party that was almost killed in the boss dungeon?"
"No," Letti's expression didn't twitch while speaking, "I was on the other party. We got there late so the monsters were already dead. They didn't say anything, but I heard the Elder Mage killed it."
The more lies you give, the more believable it sounds.
"Nah, that's a decoy." The vendor shook her head, waving her hand dismissively, "the guild is creating these speculations to hide the truth, I know it! It's a common but annoyingly effective tactic to evade the information guilds." The vendor was nice to take an extra length to explain for Letti, which she was grateful.
"Darn it, the information is really hard to get. Nobody has reliable information, even insiders has no idea."
"Are there people willing to give a lot of money to know?" She asked curiously. She never pry to the information guilds so she has no idea how its network runs internally.
"Of course! The value of the information increases tenfolds since the guild is trying hard to keep the information. We're talking up to hundred grand in golds here."
The word gold echoed loudly in her ears like a town's clock tower at 12:00 noon. Ah, she can feel her heart breaking apart at the lost opportunity! She could have ran up to the highest bidder and surrender herself for the money.
Letti blinked owlishly while smacking herself inwardly. "Wealthy people sure are willful."
The vendor shrugged and placed the bundled potatoes and gingers for her. "That's how we profit on information."
"The pay..." Letti was about to rummage on her pouch money, when the woman laughed loudly.
"It's on the house, kid! Today is a special day! Make sure you cook something for your teacher, alright?"
Letti opened her mouth in wonder before quietly slipping the pouch back to her worn out satchel.
"Thank you."
Her footsteps were light and unhurried as she pass by for any weapons displayed through the stores' windows.
She figured it's time she invest on a weapon. She previously has no use for a weapon because its difficult to go incognito with a weapon, but the old vendor reminds her that she couldn't use her shadows as freely as before.
Mages with one or two summoned are growing in notoriety, more so than Mascopian nuts now.
It's too eye-catching to parade everywhere with her ability.
Ah, it's annoying but Letti comforted herself to the thought that it's better this way than those pesky bunch ever finding her.
She'll have to endure until she left the border of Ruvia.
The bell chimed in a light ring above as soon as Letti entered the store.
"Welcome...how may I help you?" The shopkeeper asked brightly, but then his voice faded in a squeak as soon as Letti lifted her hood up.
Letti pretend to not notice the guy's obvious fluster for his comfort. "Can you show me your short swords?"
"Ah yes! I can suggest you some swords like a cutlass or a dagger? Our designs takes note of each weilders' possible preferences like air friction or grip strength." The store clerk soon began his live talk show about their swords, which Letti didn't mind.
The guy, who was just quivering like a leaf for a second, is now speaking confidently with no breaks.
Letti's sight soon wanders over something at the far corner of the glass case. It was a dagger with jagged tinted red blade and simple hilt. The workmanship looks to be made specifically for swift killing.
"How about this one?" She suddenly asked, startling the guy mid-sentence.
The guy looked down to where she was pointing. Seeing the dagger, the guy's face turned solemn. "This is my father's last work before he died. I almost forgot this sword exist."
Letti didn't want to touch upon on personal matters. "I'm sorry, I'll choose another one." She was interested at the sword, but it would be heartless to take a memento of their late father.
"No, it's okay. I believe my father would like all his swords to have their owner." The shopkeeper regain his cheerfulness, and took the sword out of the case. "I think this sword is meant to be found by its master today."
Letti took the sword from the shopkeeper's hands and felt the hilt pressed on every curves of her hands perfectly. Her lips tilted upward in mild interest.
"I think you are right."
The streets still look lively as Letti exited the store with her sheathed new sword.
"Letti! Wait up!"
Letti put the sword to her bag then turn around at the call of her name, seeing Chongky, Pamela, and Malik running after her.
She stopped and waited for them to catch up to her.
"How did you arrive here so fast? We didn't saw you going back with us." Pamela questions in bewilderement.
"I hitch a ride in a teleportation circle with some mages." She wasn't sure if Malik knew the entire story and her ability, but she didn't want to divulge more information about her ability to anyone.
"Oh, lucky you. We had walk out of the forest by ourselves." Malik groaned, twisting his shoulders after being reminded of the pain. "Those porter backpacks felt like a ton in the end."
"Party leader told us you won't join the guild." Chongky suddenly inquired. In Randell's standards, Letti could become a high ranker right away. He's sure Letti can ace the ranking examination after he saw how easily Letti deal the monsters alone.
A one-man party like Letti could clear off dungeon in a breeze with her summoned.
'Almost like a necromancer...'
Chongky frowned, remembering he had read a portion about necromancers in a passing from a book.
But he quickly dismissed the thought. It's a far-fetched idea anyway since necromancers are said to born out of the devil's shadow and has hideous appearance. And any semblance of the demon army's lineage has been erased by the Holy Knight, Peruvius, 1,500 years ago.
"Yeah, we were hoping you'll change your mind and join us." Pamela sighed.
"Party leader already appointed the three of us as officials of the new party he's creating. We already have a lot of applicants at this moment."
Letti shook her head with a small smile. "I still like how my life is right now. I want to visit a lot of places in the continent until I get tired and settle down in a random mountain."
Pamela sighed, dropping the topic. Kard already told them not to bother Letti anymore. Still, she felt slightly reluctant to let Letti go, and she was starting to like the outsider's temperament.
"We can't force you or anything, but if you ever change your mind we'll welcome you any time."
She couldn't understand why Letti wanted to continue being an outsider. It would be hard for Letti to settle down normally in any region because of the prevalent negative prejudice to outsiders in every guild.
"Oh right! We're actually talking about eating in Randell's famous restaurant earlier. Chongky said all of their ingredients were cultivated using magic. Why don't we all go together as a celebration?" Malik suddenly exclaimed.
Letti agreed to the invitation without a second thought. Food was in her next agenda anyway.
They walked for a while before arriving in a medium sized restaurant with bright magical lamps to illuminate the place. Obviously the owner of the restaurant knows a lot about magic.
"Fuwahh, I can smell the smoked deer meat from here." Malik exclaimed dreamily.
Letti could also feel herself drooling at the smell of the food as soon as they entered the restaurant. The smell was indeed wonderful.
"Oh, you're all adventurers, what would you like to eat? Everything on the menu is discounted for today." The waitress announced merrily as soon as they settled on a table.
Chongky took the role of ordering for everyone since he was the most familiar with the restaurant's menu.
"Since Randell just avoided a big dungeon break, everything is literally free. It's a good thing for poor adventurers like me to receive rewards like this." Malik remarked happily, noticing some adventurers also dining like them.
Pamela smiled cheekily, glancing at Letti knowingly. "You're really amazing, kid."
"Do you think the capital will visit the guild?" Chongky slipped in the conversation after the waitress left their table.
"Probably. A sudden abnormality in the gates is a serious issue after all. Just thinking how the gate's level suddenly increased because of the Nymphis still creeps me out." Pamela shruddered.
Letti frowned remembering the puppet. It wasn't Nymphis' fault, but the dungeon itself, who caused the anomaly.
The puppet, no doubt, was also the behind why Kard's party had a hard time clearing it before.
Letti didn't want to mention anything more as this could only complicate matters. Nobody would take her word seriously anyway. How could she explain that her summon told her things that high ranking officials in the guild council only know?
At least the guild gave them an acceptable answer to get on with their lives.
'I got my Nymphis and the guild became an overnight star. It's a win-win situation.' She thought comfortingly to herself.
"I hope the Crown Prince's party also joins the incoming delegates since they were travelling all over the kingdom from what I've heard." Malik answered.
"You're a Faradis fan?" Chongky turn to Malik in surpise.
"Of course." Malik tapped his chest proudly. "Every adventurer knows the strongest party in Ruvia especially their party leader, the Crown Prince." He recited matter of factly.
"Well, it is rare to hear an aristocrat choose to do the heavy labor of an adventurer on their own. I could see why you admire him so much." Pamela remarked.
The drinks were first delivered to their table so they took their sweet time sipping their own drink.
"By the way, have you heard about their ace? Some says the Crown Prince kick him out of the party after causing an internal conflict." Chongky leaned closer on his seat for everyone to hear his voice.
"I know that. And Faradis isn't saying anything about it! I heard he's scarily good in combat and his mana is terrifying too. Some says he can control the blood of the monsters." Malik nodded his head vigorously and clapped his hand, recalling Chonky's words.
"Wah, that magic is terrible! I wonder where he had learn that." Pamela remarked in interest.
"But I wouldn't believe rumors immediately. All informations passed by mouth are already fabricated." Chongky pointed out.
Letti found herself nodding slightly at Chongky's words after feeling slight indignation hearing such absurd rumors circulating even reaching to this corner of Ruvia.
'Yes, he's right. And for the record, I left in my own volition.' She scoffed inwardly. It's better to just forget about things that annoys her.
Nobody would have thought that the main character of the rumor is sharing the table in front of them and eating grilled mackerel.
