Chapter 12 - Childhood Friendship

We made it!

Not being caught means no punishment awaiting. I smiled at my thoughts and found the whole situation thrilling because we managed to safety entered the school grounds without the guards noticing.

"I'll go first. Goodnight." I simply bid them goodbye since I'm already sleepy and don't have the energy to say more or talk a bit longer. But of course, before I could walk away Gab asked, "can I come with you? I wanted to know where your room is." Oh, I forgot about it. Since we are only new here in school and came just a few days ago, we haven't seen each other's room. But today is not the day. I wanted to lay down just anywhere having a flat surface. I quickly disagree with him and replied, " Not today, Gab. Maybe tomorrow. Goodnight."

I don't wait for his reply and just waved my left hand at him, and resumes walking further away from them.

"What a heartless person. After all my efforts bringing her here in the Capital to explore. Hmp! She don't even bothered waiting for my reply." I'm unhappy just a bit but also know that she needed rest and already sleepy, that's why. I'll just force her tomorrow to tag me along at the end of our class. I needed to know where her room is. She doesn't really like to show her weak side to anyone and even when she's not feeling well, she'll just keep it to herself and don't bother to tell anyone. She's not the type of person who wants others to worry for her that's why she rarely show her weak side even to me, her best friend, and his father.

I can vividly remember when I first met her when we were younger. A small beautiful girl lying on the grass under the shade of the tree.

"Who's that boy? Maybe he may want to be my friend." At that time, I once thought that she was a boy from a far, but realized that she was a girl when I came closer, " She's a girl, a beautiful girl. I thought you are a boy from a far." You can't really blame me because she's wearing a royal blue robe that's mostly worn by a boy.

Looking at her sleeping face, I realized the bits of sweat from her forehead so I tried to wipe it out. But was startled because her forehead is burning. And of course, at a young age I already know what fever is because I already experienced it. I don't know her or where her house is. After a few minutes of thinking what to do, I brought her to my back and carry her to my house and asked my mother for help.

"Mother, how is she? Is her fever went down?" I innocently asked my mother about her condition.

"Her fever is not yet gone but I already given her some medicine so she'll be fine after some rest. Don't worry too much. Oh, by the way, do you know her? Is she your new friend? "

I simply shake my head and said, " No, but I wanted to be her friend, Mother." My mother simply smiled and pat my head while saying, "Good boy, girls need to be taken care of. Stay here for her and call me when she woke up." I eagerly nodded my head and watched as my mother leaves the room.

"Mother.... mother...."

Calling her mother with full of sorrow and pain. Then, a small teardrops escape from her closed eyes.

I stayed beside her and from time to time checked her forehead and changed the wet towel cloth on her forehead to help decrease her fever.

" Mother, how is she?" that's what I said early in the morning after waking up at my bed. I fell asleep maybe yesterday night at the chair beside her and mother carried me to sleep in my room.

"She's fine now, her fever went down because of her diligent friend taking care of her last night." My mother smiled at me and I widely smiled back at her. I excitedly went to her and asked about how she feels. I'm just hoping that she would agree to be my friend.

"Hi, I'm Gabriel, what's you name? Would you like to be my friend?" I look at her with anticipation.

"I'm Alex, a friend? Can you take care of yourself?" Instead of directly answering me, she asked back.

I quickly replied, " Of course, and I can take care of you, too." She's looking at me with those criticizing green eyes and simply replied with one word.

" Okay"
