As the microphone screeched, I felt a strange mix of anticipation and anxiety. The boy on stage had a captivating and intimidating air of confidence. His dark brown hair fell effortlessly over his forehead, and his piercing gaze swept across the audience, making my heart race.
"Who is he?" I whispered to Julie,
who was equally entranced."I have no idea, but he's not from our stream,"
she replied, her eyes wide 😳👀with excitement.
The boy cleared his throat again, and the chatter in the auditorium faded into silence. "Welcome to this year's orientation for new students at Greenwood High! My name is Arya, and I'm here to guide you through this incredible journey.
"I couldn't help but notice how his voice resonated through the hall, commanding attention effortlessly.
As he spoke about the college's history and the opportunities that awaited us, I felt a strange connection to him. Was it just my imagination, or did he glance in my direction now and then?!!!!!
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from the back of the auditorium. Everyone turned to see a group of students struggling with a large banner that had fallen from the ceiling. Laughter erupted as they tried to fix their blunder.
"Looks like we're not the only ones having a rough start," Ziya chuckled, nudging me playfully.
Arya took advantage of the distraction. "While they sort that out, let me introduce you to some of our distinguished faculty members." As he began naming professors, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
It was a message from my father🤐: "Meet me in the garden after orientation." My curiosity was aroused; I couldn't help but wonder what was so urgent that he needed to see me immediately. Before I could ponder it further, Arya's voice snapped me back to reality.
"Hey! Are you coming?" she called, her tone a blend of impatience and excitement.
I shook off my thoughts and rushed to catch up with her, eager to discover what awaited me in the garden after orientation.
"And remember," he said with a charming smile that made my heart flutter, "this is just the beginning. Make connections, explore your passions, and don't hesitate to reach out for help."As he finished his speech, applause filled the auditorium. I clapped along with everyone else but couldn't shake off the feeling that something significant was about to happen. Once orientation ended, students began filtering out of the auditorium. Julie grabbed my arm excitedly.
"We should go meet him! He seems amazing!""Yeah… maybe later,"
I replied hesitantly.
My mind was still racing with thoughts of my father's message. As we made our way toward the exit, I spotted Arya chatting with a group of students nearby. His laughter rang like music in my ears🎻🎧🎸🎸. Just as I was about to turn away, our eyes met for a brief moment. My breath hitched as an inexplicable spark ignited between us."Did you see that?" Julie squealed beside me.
"He looked at you!"Maybe it was just a coincidence," I said dismissively but felt my cheeks flush. We stepped outside into the garden where colorful flowers bloomed vibrantly under the sun. My father stood near a fountain, his expression serious as I approached him."Father? You wanted to see me?"
I asked cautiously. He glanced around before leaning closer. "I need you to be careful at college. Things are happening behind closed doors that you're not aware of".
"What do you mean?" My curiosity deepened as I noticed his worried expression.
"Just… trust me on this one," he said cryptically before changing the subject abruptly. "How was your wedding? Did everything go smoothly?"I hesitated but decided to keep things light-hearted for now. "Well, let's just say it wasn't exactly what I expected."As we talked, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something significant was brewing at Greenwood High—something that would intertwine our lives in ways we hadn't anticipated.
