Chapter 13 - 13 | Nightmares Do Come in Lonely Nights

Seira

Flashback: C.W asked Seira to attend a meeting in her stead.

I did not see Leo at the meeting.

I felt at ease when I found out that he was going and I thought the woman I was coming with would at least be friendly, but life just doesn't go my way. The woman was extremely silent and only spoke to me when necessary.

Maybe I should be more like her, more professional and focused.

The meeting was drab and my butt hurts from sitting. I kept pinching myself to stay awake, knowing the world of trouble I will be getting myself into if I let my eyelids droop and missed a single word they exchanged across the table.

Everybody is going home now and I'm just sitting at the lobby waiting for my driver to pick me up.

I dialed Ben's number and he answered within seconds.

"Ben, can you please pick me up?"

A car horn blared on the other side of the line. "I'm sorry miss, I'm on my way to get your sister. I can get you but it'll take me an hour to get there. Will that be fine with you?"

I weighed my options and came to a decision, "Nah, its fine. I'll get Leo to drive me home."

"I'm really sorry miss, it's this terrible traffic going on around the city--" I cut him off.

"Don't worry Ben, its fine, really. I'll call Leo and we're sure he can't say no to me."

He snorted.

"Bye," I ended the call.

I dialed Leo's number and he didn't pick up.

After how many tries, I gave up and sent him a message telling him that I need a ride home and hope he wasn't ignoring me on purpose.

Luckily, he replied fast in which his text said, 'Ok, I'll be there. Wait for me'.

30 minutes passed and there was still no Leo. And suddenly the only light that illuminated the chair I was sitting on went off.

Man, I thought I told the guard I was still in here!

Instantly, a chill passed down my spine and raised the hair up my skin.

I was paralyzed. This is literally the worst time for something like this to happen!

Cold air blew at my face. I slowly looked at the sides without my head turning.

I noticed that four doors down my left, a light bulb was still on and I sighed in relief.

I began to walk towards the light to sit in that illuminated area of the lobby instead. God knows where the switches of the lights were and if they were even still functional.

The only sounds I could hear were my breathing and my footsteps and I kept glancing at my sides because this is scary as heck!

Until my eyes focused on the glass wall on my right and a hooded figure I can't recognize stood behind it.

I stood frozen in my tracks, and as the size of my eyes slowly grow larger, my heartbeat slowly beat faster, and the cold now seemed to seep within my bones preventing me to take another step.

The figure was 2 feet taller than me and appeared to be muscular and lean that tells me it must be a man.

The man took a step forward and pressed his long fingernails on the glass.

Horrified, I started to scream but no sound would come out of my mouth and instead just stared at the figure. Looking at him, he might be an 'it' after all.

I willed my legs to move-to run, but my entire body was paralyzed from shock and fear.

All of a sudden, something touched my shoulder.

I screamed and threw the thing I was holding in my hand at the attacker and ran for the exit.

It must have hit him because there was a huge smack and his screams of pain were even louder than my screams of fear now.

I slowly stopped to a halt because I know who the owner of those wimpy screams was.

My heartbeat slowed and I walked back towards him.

"You think that was funny?" I asked and crossed my arms.

Gradually, he lifted up his head and I saw a pair of mismatched eyes gleaming in the moonlight.

Everything was dead silent until he snorted and burst out laughing.

I was in no mood to laugh. Who would want to laugh when you've literally came to face with 'The Nightmare on Elm's Street's' cousin? If you get my 'point'.

My face seemed to send him over the edge because he cracked up laughing, even louder than he already did.

I gave him a death glare and sauntered towards the exit away from his egomaniacal idiocy.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" he asked.

"I don't think I have. Maybe you forgot your brain, look for it," I retorted.

He chuckled, "Nuh uh, what I have on my hand really is yours because I can't figure out the pass code on this ancient relic."

Abruptly, I stopped walking and turned towards him with a face of recognition and pure anger.

I snatched my phone from his hand only to find out that once again I busted it.

I looked from my phone to his smirking face and hit his head with my sling bag.

"Ow, ow, ow. Stop adding injury to the injury," he mused in annoyance while chuckling at the same time.

"You deserve even worse than that."

"I'm sorry. You should have seen your face. It was so serious it became funny."

I stopped my assault, "This is all your fault! You made me throw my phone at you and now it's all busted. How will I get home now?" I screamed at him and feeling water in my eyes.

He stared at me, "You can just walk for a bit outside and call a taxi."

I glared at him and feeling the tears start to fall.

He ran his hands on his face, "Why are you crying? Alright, I'll give you a lift if you stop."

I interjected, "I'm not crying, I'm just very mad at you that I can murder you on the spot."

Amused, he crossed his arms, "Huh. Must be pee coming out of your tear ducts then."

I slapped his arms, picked my sling bag of the ground and head towards the exit.

He stopped me and grabbed my wrist. "I'm sorry," he scratched his head. "Let me give you a ride home."

I forcefully detached his hand from my wrist. "No, I'll walk for a bit outside and call a taxi. I don't want a ride from a JERK!"

"You know you don't want to walk in the street at night. Please, just let me give you a ride home as an apology for breaking your phone," he insisted and he was right.

I don't like walking at night by myself, especially from what I have seen a few minutes ago.

I glanced at the glass wall I saw him outside earlier and found him gone.

As mad as I am with this egomaniac idiot, I don't plan on acquainting myself with whatever thing it was that I saw once again and simply nodded my head.
