Mel had Rebel cornered with an arrow pointing to his eye, asking question after question.
"I promise you it was pure coincidence on both parts." Rebel insisted. "You're name is...Mel right." Rebel asked with an intimidating voice.
"What of it? Did he say something about me?" She asked.
"No... he probably forgot your name by now. I just remembered because the host announced your name as one of the competitors and again as one of the victors." Rebel said then again regretted his poor decision on words as he saw Mel going into a different kind of rage.
"Oh really? Take me to him, mutt."
"Hey! I'm nobody's delivery boy. You want him, find him yourself." Rebel said bluntly then turned to leave. Mel saw him walking off confidently then she gripped her bow tighter. Rebel turned around just to find an arrow graze past his face. "Are you crazy?!" He screamed back at her.
"No, I think you're crazy," Mel said walking up to him. "Nobody ignores me." She said, bloodshot eyes staring down at him.
Bloodlust. Rebel thought trembling back. "Just take me to him and I will spare you the eye," Mel said pointing her arrow back at his eye.
"What are you going to do if we find him?" He asked suspiciously.
"It is no concern of yours," She said but saw that Rebel wasn't looking for that answer. "But I won't... hurt him." She hesitated.
"Not what I was looking for but... I guess if your conversation is gonna be quick I guess you can have about 30 seconds before he sees you as a possible threat. Ok, let's go." Rebel said then started walking off. Mel walked after him and followed him little unsure of what he said and how she should react to it.
Slain, on the other hand, was busy trying to outrun some soldiers who saw his face on a wanted poster and being called for being a bandit.
"What the hell!? Weren't they looking for something?" Slain asked in a panic, running through the town. He then made it into a very crowded area where there were stalls, streamers, fireworks, people dressed up in different outfits: it almost looked like a festival. He immediately hid under the hive of people. The soldiers looked around but all they saw was the crowd of people enjoying the festival. Because of that, they headed back knowing that they couldn't find him in the crowd but also that they couldn't stop the festival just to find him.
As Slain saw them off he let out a sigh of relief. "While I'm here, might as well check out this festival, and just find a way back to them." He muttered as he turned to look around to see the festival in full vigour. There were stalls at every corner, selling trinkets, treats, jewellery, fruit, sweets and so much more appealing for both men and women; both young and old. Slain slowly walked around the place, intrigued by the different things he can buy. A picture frame caught his eye, leaning against a wall of a stall that seemed to be selling anything you could possibly want. the frame had a painting in it, of a young woman with flowing blonde hair and azure eyes. Both eyes shimmered as if they were actually reflecting the sunlight.
"The Princess Nelliel." The owner said as he walked up to him. "She was quite the beauty, don't you think?" He said with a rosy smile. He wore glasses and was a jolly feller who had rosy cheeks that complimented his green eyes.
"Y-yeah, sh-she just looks familiar, that's all." Slain said thinking back.
"I doubt it. She unfortunately passed 20 years ago. Nobody knows how but we do know that it happened the morning of her wedding day." The owner said reminiscing about the past.
"Doesn't she look a little young to be marrying?" Slain said in shock.
"Well," He inhaled a bit. "It was her duty to align the Clover kingdom and the Spade kingdom in this country, and by doing that she would have to marry the King of the Spade kingdom. That's actually why this festival is being held, you see. Today is the day she was to be wedded, as well as her birthday- but I suppose now you can call it her death day." The man said, his smile now turning into a frown as he thought about the day.
"Then why are you celebrating if she died today?!" Slain asked anger building up.
"It's not much of a celebration, however, Spade kingdom took pity on us and are now supporting us despite not getting princess or dowry." The man said. "But it still feels horrible if having the princess sacrificed meant peace for our kingdom... we don't even know how long the alignment will last for." The man muttered the last part then went back to his stall to tend to customers plastering the smile on his face again.
Slain stared at him for a few seconds, then turned to look at all the people with smiles on their faces. Some of these people don't even know what they're celebrating. What the festival is actually for. Slain clenched his fists and ran out of the crowd to an open space where soldiers were waiting for him, stopping him in his tracks. He didn't put up a fight when he was arrested but he did ask a single question.
"You don't know me. Why am I being arrested?" He asked with a stern voice, with a hint of loathing in it.
"Kings orders bandit. You were also seen with a person who resembles Scar the undead. We need to take you in for questioning." The guards said then dragged him along to the pathway of the castle.
"Fine, take me to that idle king of yours." Slain said with a smile, he didn't struggle one bit but counted how many weapons he saw on the way.
