Chapter 2 - Chapter 02 - A Mysterious Man

It was horrific. Death. The sight of it disgusted Henry. "Holy hell. How did this happen?" Rein said, looking sick. Henry took a look at the body. A hole about the size of a small coin was on the forehead of Lady Gena, with blood pouring out. "She was shot with a musket. But where could she have been shot from?" Henry questioned. He began to scan the streets, looking for anything suspicious.

Looking around, he couldn't find anything suspicious in the streets. Then - it hit him. He immediately scanned the rooftops of the large buildings. Then he saw him. A hooded figure, with a dark cloak standing on one of the nearby rooftops. With something in his hand - what looked like a musket. "That damn murderer. Hey, guys. I got something I need to attend to." Henry said, then he quickly rushed off. "Hey wait! Where are you going?!" Yelled Adeline. Henry rushed to the nearest alley and looked for a way to get to the roof. There, a pole leading up to the gutters. Henry grabbed on hold of it, and he hoped with all his heart that the pole would hold. Thankfully, it held and he got to the top of the roof.

Henry looked for the figure, and there he was, except he was running. "Hey! Stop right there!" He yelled. Henry ran after him, running and jumping across the rooftops as fast as he could. "Stop running!" Henry yelled. "You'll have to catch me, little one." The mysterious figure said, starting to get further and further away. Henry ran as fast as he could, trying to get to the figure, and suddenly, it stopped. Henry caught up to the figure, and walked up behind him.

"No where left to run?" Henry said, stopping behind the figure. "Well, if I take one more step I'd go tumbling down a cliff. That wouldn't be too good, would it?" The man retorted. "Well then, I have a few questions to ask you." Henry said. "Ask away, little one. I'm dying of boredom here." How dare he say that! Henry thought, angry for his arrogance.

"First of all, why kill Lady Gena?" Henry asked. "Well, that's simple. I wanted to. Do I need any other reason?" The man replied. Henry could just picture it, a smug face behind that stupid mask. "Hmph. How did you do it?" Asked Henry. "You aren't very perceptive, aren't you? Very well, I'll grant you the answer. You see that rooftop over there?" The man pointed to a rooftop behind them across the street. "I layed down on the rooftop, got out my trusty rifle, aimed, and shot Lady Gena." The man said, then chuckled a bit. "What the hell are you laughing for?" Henry said, angrily.

"Careful there boy, don't provoke me. I might just have to hurt you." The man said. Damn, Henry thought. The tone of the man's voice changed instantly. He seemed to he bored before, but now he sounded serious. "Henry!" Great. The two dunces have already made it to him. "Stay back, both of you! It's dangerous!" Henry yelled. "But, we outnumber him! We can take him in to get him arrested!" Adeline yelled back. "Oh my, how confident you are." The man chuckled, and removed his mask. He looked normal - aside from the fact that he had the ugliest scar on his right eye. Henry felt uneasy about this.

"We have to be careful around him, Rein and Adeline." Henry felt as though he's seen that face before. No, he knows that he has. "I've seen your face before. Just who are you?" Henry asked. "Oh? I'm suprised a little shrimp like you has seen my face. Would you really care to know my name?" The man asked, smirking. "Of course. I'd like the luxury of knowing my enemy's name." Henry retorted. The nerve of this guy.

"You will call me Jason. I don't know how you've seen me before, but make sure to remember it. You'll be hearing about me a lot from now. Well, I think it's time I'll be taking my leave." The man said, with a smile on his face. Jason?! No, it couldn't be. Jason is the name referred to the man none other than Ace's right hand man - the man in charge of the Scarlet Initiative. The single most dangerous enemy of the Eugahrian Kingdom

"Hold on.... you mean Jason.... of the Scarlet Initiative?" Asked Adeline. She looked scared. "Why aren't you perceptive? Haha. Yes. I am "Jason of the Scarlet Initiative". Why do you look so scared, little birdie?" He laughed. "Don't talk to her like that. Why don't you fight us? Three versus one is a fair fight, especially for someone like you, isn't it?" Henry challenged. "I don't have time for that, little boy. If you wish to fight me, then try stopping me from escaping." Jason replied.

A challenge. If this man is as dangerous as Henry thinks he is, then it will be no easy task. "Alright then. I won't try to stop you. But know this, the next time we meet, I will kill you." Henry said, determined. "Ohoh! The little man has spoken bold words. Alright, I accept that. Next time we meet, you'll try and kill me. Goodbye for now, little one." And with that, Jason put his mask back on and jumped off the rooftop. The three friends gasped and rushed to the edge. When they looked over, they saw nothing but the street below.

"Well, shit. We just got into something that we don't want to be apart of." Said Rein. Henry started to laugh. "What are you laughing for? That's creepy you know!" Said Adeline, backing up. "No, this is perfect. I heard the Scarlet Initiative have Dark Mages. And they can interpret dreams. I can finally-" Henry realized what he was saying, he stopped but it was too mate. Rein and Adeline were both looking at Henry with concerned looks on their faces.

"Henry... is this what you were mumbling in your sleep about?" Shit! They mustn't find out. It'll only make them pry. "It's nothing." Henry replied, desperately trying to get them off his case. "Henry. Whatever you're thinking, don't do it. It's way too dangerous." Adeline said. "I said it's nothing. Drop it." Henry said, annoyed. Henry walked away and dropped down to the ground. "I'm going to go tell the authorities about Jason. You two had back to your rooms, I don't think we have anything else to do today. I'll be back later." And with that, Henry walked back towards the crime scene.

He lied. Henry had a training session with Echo, his mentor. "Just great. Another lesson with the man who won't even grunt at me. I wonder how it will go." Said Henry, then chuckling. "He's the best chance I got at fighting the Scarlet Initiative. Maybe King Julius will send the Iceclaws out to fight them. It should be a breeze." Said Henry. The Iceclaws, or The Iceclaw Regiment is one of two regiments that make up the Kingdom's special forces. Iceclaw, and Bearfangs.

The Bearfangs are known for their brutisg, axe-weilding, beer-chugging, large bodied members. Similar to bears. The Iceclaws are more known for their quick and powerful sword users, such as Henry himself. The Iceclaw Regiment is known for having the most powerful soldier in the entire Kingdom, Special Division Commander Echo. I know, it's quite ironic having a man as silent as Echo as a commander, but his battle skills are second to none. He may not talk, but he more than makes up for that on the battlefield.

The Eugahrian Military is separated by divisions. The Cavalry Divison, Archery Division, Infantry Division, Engineering Division, and Special Forces Division. Each division has regiments. And of course, each division has a set commander. That's what makes the military so powerful, the fact that they are organized and the chain of command is so tight. It is very hard to disrupt and cause confusion within the military.

One of the many goals Henry has for himself is to become one of the greatest soldiers the Kingdom has ever known. But before that, his ultimate goal. To find the Stone. That is so he can bring his parents back. "Alright, I'm going to report this to the authorities. Hey! Officer!" Henry yelled over to the officer assessing the crime. "Yes, young man?" The officer asked. "I'd like to report a mysterious man. His name is Jason, and I think he has ties with the Scarlet Initiative. He was the one responsible for this." Henry told the officer. "Oh? Alright. I'll report this to my superior- hey! Wait! How do you know about the Scarlet Initiative!" The officer yelled, but Henry was already gone. Henry ran to the training grounds as fast as he could. "Shit, I'm late." He said. As soon as he got there, he was met with a punch in the chest the sent him stumbling back. When he looked up, Henry saw Echo standing in front if him.

"Nice to see you too, Mentor." Henry said, still trying to recoup from the powerful punch. "You're late, young man." Great. Echo's speaker, Mark is here. "Yeah, I'm well aware, Mark." Henry retorted. Echo then sent another powerful punch his way and Henry narrowly dodged it. "A little aggressive today, Mentor?" Henry said. "This is not time for trivial questions. This is combat training. I will be back in an hour to see your progress." Mark said, then left. Fuck him. Combat training always leaves painful bruises on his body, and he can never get the upper hand against Echo. "Alright, let's begin, shall we?"
