Val opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, seeing a slight glow of moonlight. Confused, she turned and saw the mouth of a cave. 'So… I just died and now I'm in a cave, have I been reincarnated?'. A Small ripple happened in the air in front of Val, a light blue screen appearing.

'The timing here seems ironic. But it confirms my suspicions.' Valentine sat there thinking for a while about everything that was happening and how she died. 'That bastard Echo, if I ever get the chance I shall kill you.' While she was thinking of her old memories she heard a small squeak next to her.
She turned and saw a sleeping bat the same size as her. She looked around and saw a nest full of bats the same size as her. She tried to stand but realized she couldn't. 'Since this is a system, I should have a window to see my levels and stats right?' 'Status.'

'Well that seems like a great place to start. Though, being a bat might take some adjusting to.' Val started moving her body to get used to the sensations of her new form. She tried walking, finding it easier than she thought it would be. After some more experiments, Val found she could do everything but fly with surprising ease, her body feeling natural like she had been a bat in her first life. She turned as the other bats started to wake and stir.
The bats all started to fly out of the cave in a large swarm, leaving Val alone. The moon, high in the sky. 'Well I guess that's next.' Val steeled herself readying her mind and body for flight, she walked to the edge and leaped, activating her Flight skill. Her movements were erratic and clumsy, barely stopping herself from crashing into the ground. 'Better than I thought I would do honestly.' She turned back to the cave entrance and tried to take off again. She was able to get off the ground and move forward around half a meter before losing control and crashing back into the ground.
After struggling with flying for a while, Val finally started to get the hang of it, and was eventually flying through the forest feeling the wind on her face. 'This feels amazing. I see why humans are so obsessed with flying.' Val thought after landing on a branch. She sat perched, looking out over a small river.
As Val was perched on the branch, she saw a small rabbit around 23 cm in size, the fur a shiny onyx color, the eyes looking like burning embers. She flew closer to the rabbit, stalking her prey, landing on a tree branch while using her stealth skill to remain hidden.
'Guess you'll be as good a meal as any.' Val thought to herself. She moved right above the rabbit realizing that it was around half her size. She waited for it to take a drink from the river, letting its guard down. Val fell from the branch diving right for the rabbit opening her wings to glide down. When she was right atop the rabbit she tucked her wings and dove, opening her mouth and biting the rabbit's neck. A small crack sounded as she snapped its neck, the rabbit going limp.

'Well, I'm not sure if I expected more or less than that.' Val thought, the rabbit was still in her mouth. As she attempted to lift the rabbit off the ground, finding it weighed 7 kilograms. 'What the hell, why is this rabbit so heavy?' She dragged it over to the base of the tree with much struggle.
'Damn rabbit why are you so heavy?' She thought to herself as she caught her breath under the tree. After a moment she turned to the rabbit and started to eat. The skin was hard and thick. The meat was surprisingly soft and nice to eat. After eating, Val flew back into the tree finding a perch on a lower branch. She relaxed and started to drift off to sleep, her body tired from the flying and the hunt.
Val awoke, the sun shining through the heavy canopy of leaves in beams of light. 'I guess I slept through the rest of the night, that's fine.' She moved down and got a drink from the river. Returning to the tree when she was done to plan out her day. While considering what she could do, she heard rustling in the bushes below her.
She became alert and used her stealth skill to hide on the branch she was on. She sat, waiting, her presence hidden. A woman who looked to be in her late twenties walked out of the bushes. She wore a light set of leather armor and a set of daggers in sheathes, a pair on her hip and another pair on her back. She moved low and with purpose to the river, filling three water skins and a small flask on her hip.
'She looks like an adventurer or something. I should try to follow her and see if there is a camp around here. Then maybe I could steal some food or learn more about where I am, and this world.' Val thought, still hidden, still waiting. The woman stood after retrieving the water. She began in the direction she came from. Slowly. Methodically.
Val followed behind her, staying hidden in the trees. At times almost being caught, her sensitivity to light stunned her and made her lose her focus on flying. She almost crashed any time she flew through a beam of light shining through the canopy.
Eventually the woman entered a small clearing with what seemed to be a small camp set up. 4 tents were set up with a small fire pit in the center that contained ash and coal. A small pile of firewood close to the pit. The woman walked over to a small table set up near the tents and set the water skins down. She then rang a bell, waking the people in the tents.
