Chereads / The Villain’s Revenge / Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Answer

Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Answer

Still His Majesty's POV: (funny how we still don't know his name.)

I visited my daughter right when I found out that Lara and Elijah decided to keep her. Lara and Elijah are my dearest friends since childhood. The moment I found out they kept her, I felt elated.... though I know I shouldn't be.

It seems impossible but maybe it was only me who tries to believe that my daughter still remembers me. It's been two months since I told Lara to take her away.

I couldn't contain myself but to visit her. If I had to travel out I had to wear peasant clothes in order to hide my identity from spies.

I soon decided that it's better this way. I could provide for her while keeping her away from me. I didn't want her to grow up questioning why I abandoned her, so I told Elijah and Lara to not tell her about me.

Soon I prepared a mansion where they could live close to the palace. Throughout the years I would visit Valentine whenever I got the chance.

I've noticed that she enjoys the outdoors and is attracted to stone-digging. After seeing how much joy she got from discovering a gold that I've accidentally dropped one time, I've decided to bury more treasures for her to find in the garden which she enjoyed digging with tools she created with her little hands.

I was observing her one day when to my surprise, I noticed her waving at me. I was so shocked that I just teleported back to the palace. Could it be that she still remembers me? That's absurd.

Until one day, Pokey brought her in front of me. I want to hug my daughter but I couldn't do anything but to keep distance, I want to save her.

Valentine's POV:

I woke up from my deep slumber. What time is it? What day is it? Where am I? Oh right.... I'm in Pokey's bedroom. She's not beside me anymore.

I walked out of her bedroom. Where could she be? This is what I get for sleeping late. It's probably 5 pm right now.

I reached the entrance hall of the palace. There sat his majesty on his throne.... and in-front of him.... mother!?

"Forgive me for being late your majesty." Mother said.

"You were looking for Valentine weren't you?" His majesty said.

Mother raised her head. "How did you know!?"

"She's here."

Mother gasped and bowed quickly. "Punish me your majesty! for not paying enough attention on the Princess!" Mother says as she bows her head.

Don't say that mother! I'm not a princess anymore remember!?

"She's not my daughter anymore." his rudeness said.

I walked in on their conversation and they were both shocked.

"Let's go home mother." I said casually, purposely letting his highness realize that yes I heard their conversation and I don't care because I already know I'm his daughter.

"Valentine! Don't disappear like that again!" mother hugged me.

"I want to go home."

"Okay, I'll take you home now... okay?" she tells me.

Then I looked back at him. "I know you wouldn't mind if we take our leave now your majesty, you never wanted me here in the first place."

His majesty stood up, he must have been so disrespected with my words. I felt guilty with my rudeness. "You may leave." he said firmly.

Once again, me and mother Lara left the palace leaving his majesty alone. What a familiar scene.

"Father... why didn't you heal mother?" I asked.

"What do you mean? Your mother isn't sick." he told me.

"No. my real mother."

Mother dropped the glass of water she's holding. Both mother and father were astounded with what I said.

I didn't mean to say it. I just have this heavy feeling in my chest because I couldn't help but feel this way, knowing that my real mother died without me being able to meet her.

I may have told myself that I already accepted the life I have with my adoptive parents but every night I've been secretly wishing to meet my real mother.

"W-what do you mean Valentine?" mother pretended to not know what I'm talking about. "I'm your mother."

I shook my head. "I know I'm adopted."

"Who told you that!?" Father asked a little annoyed.

"I knew ever since I was born. I knew I'm his majesty's daughter. Every night I remember the day his majesty visited me and the day he told mother to give me away." I say which I know made them feel surprised and sad. "It's okay father, mother, you'll still be the only parents to me. I love you most in this world. I just want to know, why you didn't heal my real mother..."

"....your real mother isn't sick." father replied still sadly.

How could that be? I clearly remember that his majesty said she isn't getting any better. Is father lying to me?

"Then why did she die?"

"That's something only His Majesty can answer..."
