Morgianna had decided that everyone should meet up at the guild since it would be out of the way. She sent out letters to those she did not have a mental connection with and for her original group she told them telepathically to return to The Rose's Thorn. Days turned into weeks and Morgianna was starting to get nervous. If they had run into trouble and she was not there she would never forgive herself.
Thanks to Silas, who only grumbled slightly when she requested everyone to stay here she and her allies would at least have a roof over their heads. Just as she as about to leave the guild to find her friends she heard a commotion downstairs. Rushing out of her room she ran down the stairs almost causing Killian to drop the papers he had in his hands. In the main room there were tents scattered about with all the tables and chairs stacked up against the walls. However, this sight had become an everyday view of her. What drew her attention was the people who had just walked through the door. Olive was out of breath as she drug Felix behind her. "Help! Someone help please, we were attacked on our way here and barely escaped with our lives. Angeline has discovered our location! We had just met up with Prince Thadeous and Prince Alistar when we were ambushed."
Pushing her way through the growing crowd of onlookers Morgianna rushed up to her friend and brother. Without even asking she put her hands on Felix and begged the magic to work quickly. "Where are they?" Her heart was in her throat, her fears playing behind her eyes as she imagined herself not making it in time.
"Sir Bartholomew and Sir Silvus are with them on the west side of town." Olive had tears in her eyes as she grasped Felix's hand for dear life. If Morgianna was not in such a hurry she would have teased her friend for holding her brotherly so desperately.
Standing the moment she knew that he was alright she looked around her with eyes that held authority. "This is the person we have been waiting for, grab whatever gear you need, and follow after me. I will go first." She did not even give them time to say whether they would come. She had no time for cowards, they would either follow her orders or she would not trouble herself with them anymore.
Flashing out the door she pushed her magic to fly faster than she ever had before. Reaching the town limits in seconds she could smell blood. Not a small amount either, the air was thick with its coppery tang and did not bode well for whoever was bleeding. Looking around her she saw a mop of red hair lying face down on the ground and felt her heart freeze. Running over to him she saw him grimacing in pain as a pool of blood formed under him. She pricked her ears but could not hear any sounds of fighting and that worried her. Rolling Thadeous over she saw his stomach gashed open and leaking a black substance. She could see the pain he was in and needed to work fast so that she could find everyone else.
Once again she put her hands on someone in need of healing in less than 5 minutes. She gritted her teeth as she pushed the magic into him as quickly as she dared. After all too quickly could shock his system and do more harm than good, but she didn't have the luxury of taking her time. She needed to hurry to find everyone else, their lives could be in danger too. The seconds felt like hours as she snapped her head in every direction she even thought she heard a sound in.
Why was nobody following her? Where were those cowards that pledged their lives to save the world?! At least Silas and Killian would have followed so why was she out here all alone with her friend's blood covering her hands? The moment she felt that it would be safe to move Thadeous she cradled him in her arms and flew up in the sky wanting to get a better vantage point. However, she was not prepared with the sight that assaulted her vision. There was smoke rising into the sky from where the Rose's Thorn should have stood. Its normally towering height was nothing but rubble as she watched people running around as they tried to put the fire out.
The shock wore off quickly as Morgianna shot through the sky. As she grew closer it was like she pushed through a slimy barrier and all of a sudden she could hear everything. People were screaming and crying in pain and among it all there was a sinister laugh that belonged in a horror movie. "Run and cry all you want! You put your faith in that lowly girl and I will show you why that was only your first mistake!" Angeline's voice was hoarse and her eyes wild as she shot her magic at everything that moved. She had taken the mask off letting everyone see her disfigured face. The way she attacked was with no hesitation, clearly showing her readiness to kill whomever she could. The way she stood atop the rubble that once was like a second home to Morgianna was like that of a conquerer.
Silas and Killian were among the few people still standing below as they fought off each of her attacks. It was like mayhem had manifested into a person, and that person was Angeline.
"Run, run, run as fast as you can, I'll always catch you!" Angeline was cackling like a madman as she practically danced upon the building. All at once she stopped and glanced up to where Morgianna was flying and if possible her smile seemed to widen, almost splitting her face in two. "Ah, as a proper lady shouldn't you be on time for parties? It is very rude to keep your guest waiting." She stopped attacking those on the ground as her pink eyes zeroed in on Morgianna clearly finding her the bigger and better prey.
Thadeous, who was still knocked out was being held princess style several hundred feet above the ground so Morgianna couldn't just drop him. Also if she tried to lower him with wind magic there was a high possibility that Angeline would shoot him out of the sky. On top of all that she did not see Felix or Olive anywhere below her, and she still had not seen Alistar, Sir Bart, or Sir Silvus at all. "Angeline your problem is with me, yet you attack everyone else. Could it be that you are scared of me?" Morgianna was not dumb to think that if she asked Angeline would stop attacking everyone. She knew she had to get her angry so that all her focus would be on her. In her heart she said a silent apology to Thadeous for dragging him along.
"Scared of you?!? You are just trash beneath me. Why would I be scared of you?!" Angeline's temper burned hotter with each passing second. She kicked her foot out sending some rubble flying down onto the people below. Her eyes never wavering from Morgianna as grunts of pain drifted up to her. "The person who should be scared is you." Her voice became a growl at the end, each word sounding more like thunder than speech.
If Morgianna was honest, she was scared. Not of Angeline and whatever freak show of magic she had going on, but that she wouldn't be able to protect the people who put their trust in her. Who knew how many had already passed due to her leaving them behind, and how many more were struggling below her. 'I can't think that way, I saved Thadeous and if I hadn't left he may be dead already. I just need to take care of her here and then I can worry about everyone else.' She had wasted too much time already trying to speak to the maniac in front of her and the time for talk was done.
Pulling her scythe out one-handedly Morgianna used her magic to fasten Thadeous to her person. If she got the chance she would drop him off but for now he had to come along for the ride. "For your crimes against this world and all of its inhabitants, I sentence you to Death." Morgianna shot off like a rocket heading straight for Angeline. Her scythe meeting her black magic head-on causing a shockwave to blast through the area.
It was at that moment that everyone on the ground realized that Angeline had been toying with them. Even Silas who was the strongest member of the guild was shocked at the power radiating off the two girls in front of him. If he had to battle them at full strength one on one he had no doubt that he would lose. Hell even just now when she was toying with them he found it difficult to protect those around him.
Angeline pushed back, continuously aiming for Thadeous as she shot off what looked like darts of black magic. "How about this, if you give him to me, I'll let everyone on the ground go." Her eyes were full of undisclosed hate even as they drifted over Thadeous. Morgianna knew that handing him over would be a death sentence. Besides she knew Angeline would not just let everyone else go and Morgianna had started to find the annoying prince less annoying.
"No." That one word had Angeline twisting her face in anger. The smile that had just been on her face fell and her eyes hardened.
"You are no match for me. I will enjoy taking them all away from you as you beg for it all to end. They should have been mine, this whole world would have bowed to me. A crown prince from each of the kingdoms except for our very own and even there I would have had a dukes son. Yet you flew in and took them all, even gathering the attention of Prince Alaric. What did I ever do to you to deserve this?!" Morgianna could feel the air around them change and when her eyes met Angeline's they were fully black. Everywhere that Morgianna could see on her skin was cracking as black mist swirled around her.
Behind her Morgianna could hear the sounds of wings but she didn't dare to look away. That ball of dread was back in her gut that told her that something bad was about to happen. Angeline's movements became jerky as she raised her hand in front of her noticing the cracks. Seeing her own skin split there was no fear in her black eyes instead laugher bubbled out of her as she covered her face with her palms. "He asked if I was prepared to die. Im really going to die. I was a tool." She lifted her head letting Morgianna see the black streaks that ran down her face as she practically fell apart. "At least I'll be able to take you all with me."
It happened so fast Morgianna reacted as if by second nature. Using her time magic she froze all that was around her. With how little time she had left she had been avoiding using this ability at all costs but this was do or die. The magic within Angeline had hit critical and she was going to take out everyone with her. Not wasting a second Morgianna flew to the ground placing Thadeous near Silas. She looked around at everyone present but knew she wouldn't be able to move them all, especially the fully grown dragons that we're still in the sky. Fafnir and Faust had made it but she only wished they had shown up a little later.
The way Morgianna saw it there was only one option and that was to move the problem if she couldn't move everyone else. Angeline was practically coming apart at the seams as Morgianna grabbed her. If they moved in any direction other than up Morgianna risked hurting someone during the blast. Looking into the sky Morgianna squinted at the sun as she estimated how far she would need to fly.
She had tested how far she could go a couple of times but she still did not think it would be far enough. Time was ticking and she needed to at least try.
