Chereads / The Death of a Time Viewer (COMPLETED) / Chapter 53 - An Unexpected Visitor

Chapter 53 - An Unexpected Visitor

It has been two days since she fell asleep and the whole castle was tense. Her birthday was spent with her lying on a bed, her pale complexion even paler than normal. Fafnir felt that he had failed her and had spent his every free moment by her side waiting for her to wake up. He felt he should have convinced her to stay indoors, anything but running around a strange place. Even with those thoughts though he knew she would have left even if he had tried to stop her. They went on countless missions and there was always the chance of getting hurt... He just did not expect it to be now.

Myra watched from the sidelines wanting Morgianna to wake up, and for Fafnir to stop beating himself up over her getting hurt. When Myra had woke up she found her wound to be fully healed and the castle in a panic. She had not seen anything that had occurred after passing out from the pain, so she had not seen the magnitude in which Morgianna had used her powers. Fafnir did not tell her family what she had done but had given a brief run down to Myra and Alnwick.

"You have to rest, if you don't you will not be able to help her later. Let me watch her and if she wakes, I will have someone inform you immediately. I.. worry about you." Myra blushed slightly and looked away from Fafnir not wanting to see his usual uninterested look. However, unbeknownst to her for the first time in years the look he gave her had a hint of warmth. He admits that her infatuation towards him was something he blatantly ignored, but in the face of danger watching the green-haired woman risk her life to save Morgianna had made him finally take notice of her.

He sighed and ran his hand down his face, erasing the warm look he had a moment earlier. "Alright, but I want to be the first one told when she wakes."

Watching Fafnir walk away Myra sighed and turned back to look at the sleeping face of Morgianna. "Hurry and wake up so we don't have to keep worrying about you...especially Fafnir, he loves you ya know? He thinks of you as his little sister and to be honest... I kind of do too. Though if you ever asked me I would deny it." As she finished speaking she sat down in the chair beside the bed and propped her elbows on her knees. Her eyes were bloodshot but resolute to watch the sleeping girl until the moment her eyes opened.

...

After a couple of hours of watching Morgianna, Myra heard a commotion down the hall. There were several guards frantically yelling and Myra could hear a group heading in her direction. Moving so that she was standing between whoever was about to come through the door and Morgianna, Myra took up a stance that would be ready to fight if the need arose.

The voices were closer and she could make out several of the words.

"She is not taking visitors at this moment."

"Wait for the Duke and Duchess to arrive and they will entertain you."

"Your Highness, please follow me to the sitting room and I will have refreshments prepared for you right away."

'Ah so it is royalty, explains their blatant disregard' Myra sneered internally thinking of which pompous figure would be walking through the door at any moment. If they tried to start something then she would defend Morgianna, even at the risk of offending them.

As the door opened Myra was met with two piercing blue orbs and a shock of vividly blue hair. "Good day, I am Prince Caspian of Aquaria and I am here on behalf of my father to look into the well being of Morgianna Bloodmoon of the House of Bloodmoon. " As he spoke Myra caught the shift of his eyes as they glanced at Morgianna's prone figure on the bed and then quickly back to her.

"As you can see she is not in the right state to be receiving visitors. I can have one of the guards send word once she is well." She did not outright say it, but everyone got the hint that she was asking him to leave.

As if he had not heard her words at all he walked farther into the room, his eyes never leaving Myra as if he was testing to see just how far he could push before he would be pushed back. Myra was tense and glanced at the guards that were at the door. None of them had even set foot into the room, as if waiting to see what would happen next.

"Guards, please inform the Duke and Duchess of the arrival of Prince Caspian if they are not already aware. Also request Fafnir to return to Morgianna's side, he should be in his quarters." Her words lit a fire under the guards as they practically shoved one another out of the way to complete their tasks. 'Useless bunch.' Inside Myra was fuming at the incompetence her fellow guards contained. She promised that once they returned home she would have Fafnir personally retrain them.

Caspian watched the exchange with no change in his expression, his eyes every now and then brushing over Morgianna but otherwise he stood still in the middle of the room. Myra wanted to blatantly tell him to leave but decided to wait for someone with more authority to arrive.

As if reading her thoughts, his words broke through her walls. "I know you want me to leave, but what if I could wake her up?" His words caused her eyes to sharpen as she sized him up.

"What makes you believe that she will not just wake up on her own?" Her eyes were yellow slits as she tried to keep her emotions under check.

Caspian coughed and looked away from Myra, his eyes once again drifting to land on Morgianna, but this time he did not look away. "I never said that she would not wake up on her own, but judging by what I had seen she may be down for several more days yet. She expended a large deal of magic that no girl her age should have been able to have and it put a strain on her body. As a vampire she will naturally heal at an accelerated rate, but the damage she would have sustained would have been quite... well extreme. Yes I have seen that she is powerful, but her body has not caught up to her magic. I am sure you probably used all manners of potions and may have even called someone to try to heal her, but the truth is that I am here now and I am offering to help you. Are you going to turn me away?" He turned his head to lock his eyes on Myra's and watched as the yellow slits turned once again into a vibrant purple.

Myra wanted to curse this boy but found that she could not refute what he had said. "How can you help her?"

He scratched his head and looked somewhat reluctant to say which made Myra want to deny his help completely. "It is a special potion that I would need to give her, but I would need to have you leave us in here alone. You can stand outside the door as it will only take a moment, but I cannot allow you to see the potion. It is special to our family."

As much as Myra wanted Morgianna to wake up sooner rather than later she did not want to leave him alone in the room with her for even a second. Fafnir would throw a fit if he were to find out. She was about to tell him no when he spoke again. "You have every right to be worried, but do you really think I would do something that could potentially cause a war between our Kingdoms. I do not like war, and I will not be the reason lives are lost needlessly. I only wish to help the person that I may marry one day." He looked at her hoping that she would see that he meant no harm.

Looking at the door and the distance between it and the bed Myra sighed. "Fine you have at most 4 minutes before everyone else arrives. Help her." She did not even wait for a response and walked out the door and shut it behind her before she could change her mind.

Left alone in the room Caspian looked at the sleeping girl and blushed furiously. The reason he had come himself was not purely because his father wanted him to. While it is true that the potion is a secret to his family, anyone could have administered it if they knew the correct procedure. His father fearing that Morgianna would come from harm if she were to not wake quickly wanted someone with the air and water attributes to circulate the medicine through her system faster. The only problem being that they would have to kiss her to do so. Hence the reason he wished for Myra to leave them alone.

His father wanted to send a cousin of his that was a few years older, but at the thought of him kissing her Caspian volunteered. If one day they were to be married he did not want her lips to touch anyone else.

Creeping closer to the bed Caspian looked closely at her sleeping face and felt his face grow even warmer. He was only 13 years old and had never gotten close to many females other than his mother, let alone kiss one. He uncorked the bottle that he had hidden in his inner pockets and placed the sweet liquid into his own mouth. before he could chicken out he bent forward and placed his lips on hers, letting the liquid dribble into her mouth. while he used his air and water attribute to direct it. As the last of it began circulating he pulled back but did not completely lean away. He watched her face looking for any reaction that she was waking up.

The effect was almost instantaneous. Her eye began to twitch but before he could retreat they opened and he found himself held hostage my her mismatched gaze. Her eyes were wide and bright and he found himself mesmerized. He wanted to stare longer but found himself shoved back by a gust of wind. Not enough to cause severe harm, but enough to create some distance. Looking back at Morgianna he found her looking at him in disbelief.

"What are you doing in my room?!" Her voice was loud and quickly alerted Myra of her waking. The door bursting open barely even registered to Morgianna as she continued to stare at Prince Caspian as if he was a nightmare made a reality.

He was not prepared for her to look at him in such a way and felt slightly flustered. "I am here because I was healing you. You have been asleep for days due to the injuries you sustained." He wanted to tell her to stop looking at him as if he murdered her family. He wanted to tell her she was overreacting and that she should be thanking him for healing her, but most of all he wanted to move closer so that he could look into those jewels she called eyes once more.

Morgianna finally took her eyes off of him long enough to look to Myra for confirmation. After receiving an affirmative nod she calmed a little but did not let her guard down completely. Myra knew why she was on edge but she could do and say anything at that very moment, at least not when the reason was standing only a few feet away from her.

"Then I thank Your Highness Prince Caspian for helping me." She tried to school her features into a small smile but it came out as more of a grimace. Caspian wanted to know what he had done to make her dislike him so much. 'It can't be because of the kiss right? Because it was hardly even one! What if she is mad that I have not tried to contact her before today even though we may get engaged in the future? Oh, goddess, we are practically strangers and she woke up to me standing over her, no wonder she is on guard around me.'

While his thoughts were spiraling out of control, nowhere even close to the real reason for her discomfort, Morgianna was watching as his face shifted to show many emotions. As panic seemed to be the most predominant emotion Morgianna decided to throw the boy a lifeline. "I am sorry that you had to see me in such a state if you would like I will ask my father for some type of reward for your help" This time her smile was more genuine and Caspian could only stare dumbfounded. One minute she was on guard but now she was smiling at him, not that he was upset by the change, just confused.

As he finally found the words to respond he heard what sounded like a stampede coming in their direction. He swallowed his words and looked towards the door knowing that any minute there would be several new arrivals to the room.

"Fafnir slow down, she is fine with Myra and Prince Caspian, he isn't going to hurt her." Morgianna recognized her mother's voice.

"That may be so, but as her guard I should be there." Fafnir sounded calm but Morgianna who had spent the most time around him could hear the strain in his voice.

Within a few moments of hearing their voices: Fafnir, Lillian, and Ryland Bloodmoon as well as the guards that had been there previously arrived at the door. Everyone present was surprised to see her awake and sitting on her bed as if she had never been in a coma to begin with.

She gave a huge grin at everyone present. "I am awfully popular today with all these visitors."
