The day of the party arrived sooner than Morgianna would have liked. She had not been able to go on any missions in almost two weeks as her mother grilled social etiquette at every chance she could. She would almost bet that she could breathe fancily with all of her mother's lessons.
It was decided that she would be allowed to take one guard with her and since Myra was the only female personal guard she had she was the logical choice. However, Fafnir was not pleased, stating that as he had been with her the longest he was the best choice.
"Fafnir, I know you are always looking out for my best interest but this is an all-female party, and you my friend are a man. Myra will be there with me, she will not let anything happen." Morgianna gave him one of her smiles as she batted her eyes but this only earned her a frown.
Fafnir stalked closer until he was standing only a foot away. "I know she is part of our team but there is a small part of me that does not want to trust her. If she is negligent for even a moment you could be the one to pay the price. There is no guarantee and I do not like it."
Morgianna knew how he felt, but regardless that would not change the situation. "Fafnir, you do not have to like it. Myra will be the one to join me, but I will contact you if I absolutely need help. You can wait down the road if it will make you feel better, just please for the love of everything that is holy please do not bust in there as a flaming dragon just because some little girls can be hateful." She tried to give him a smile, but she knew she was not fooling anyone. She did not want to go and pretend to be nice, she liked hanging out with Fafnir, Alnwick, and even Myra because she did not have to pretend to be anyone that she wasn't.
To her family she was a smart 10-year-old girl with above average magic who was slightly lazy when it came to her lessons. With her team she was still a young girl, but she could show her power, she could talk without filters and say what she really wanted instead of playing a game with her words in fear of offending someone's fragile ego.
All Fafnir could do was sigh and nod his agreement, he knew she was not weak, but that was his little sister even if they were not blood. "You better call me as soon as you need me, do not try to do everything by yourself. I will stand down since at least you are able to have an extra set of eyes with you, but I will keep saying it, I do not like this."
Morgianna gave him a real smile this time and finished packing the cookies she had made. She did not know what would happen at this gathering, but she knew better than to believe everything that was originally supposed to happen in the story. After all she was a lot different than how she was supposed to be. The gods and goddesses that had sent her here told her the heroine will be the bad guy and that already spelled trouble.
Olive was the original villainess best friend. She had been adopted as a baby, but as she was a succubi she was made fun of and her own adopted mother accused her of trying to seduce the male servants. Of course that was all false, but it still made the girl grow up with hatred in her heart. She did not know where the girl's heart currently lied but if she could change her future, she had to give it a shot.
The carriage had been prepared earlier by her mother, probably in fear that Morgianna would try to escape from going. Myra was already waiting at the door wearing her guard uniform and a frown. "If all you do is frown then you will never get a boyfriend." Morgianna loved teasing Myra, and over the past 2 years the other woman had learned to just roll with it even sometimes teasing back.
"Hmm that may be the case, but fortunately I do not have a face like yours, or else I would only have boyfriends I do not want." Myra took a low jab knowing that Morgianna was constantly having to push marriage proposals back.
Morgianna laughed climbing into the carriage. "Fine, I call a truce. Well at least until we are done with this battle." She gave a wink and settled in for the ride wishing she could just walk instead.
*Arriving at the Prime Ministers House.*
Morgianna looked out the small window as they approached their destination already feeling anxious. She would rather track down killers and corrupt officials than sit in a room with a bunch of pre-pubescent girls who grew up their whole life thinking they are special.
Allowing Myra to exit the carriage first, Morgianna followed shortly after keeping her head held high and her eyes straight ahead. The butler that had been standing at the gate to welcome each of the guests felt blood rush to his face and blood drip from his nose. He was far from a lolicon but the girl in front of him had such a powerful aura combined with her cuteness that he just was not prepared.
Stuttering slightly he used his handkerchief to discreetly wipe the blood from his face. "M-may I k-know whom I am announcing." He winced when the girl's mismatched eyes met his and studied him as if he was an anomaly. To most he probably was as butlers tended to be older than his current 16 years of age, but he had worked hard to get where he was.
Morgianna had been evaluating the boy as she walked up and saw him as no threat. So giving one of her brightest smiles she announced, "I am Morgianna Bloodmoon, daughter of Duke Ryland and Duchess Lillian Bloodmoon." The young butlers face became pale upon hearing her name. 'stupid, why did you have to go and embarrass yourself in front of a Dukes daughter of all people!' His thoughts were on the verge of panic and Morgianna could tell.
"Hey, it's okay, I am not angry that you do not know who I am. Would you like to announce that I am here?" She giggled slightly at the boy's flushed cheeks guessing he was embarrassed. Many girls had already arrived and each time they had acted as if he had committed the world's biggest sin by not knowing who they were at a glance. He had never met any of them before yet he still felt as if he had done something wrong. Yet here was a girl who was of higher status than many in attendance and she had smiled and treated him kindly even when he had really messed up. Truly she was how a proper lady should act.
"Of- of course!" A smile finally graced his face and Morgianna sighed in relief, she thought the poor boy was about to prostrate himself on the ground and beg for forgiveness over nothing.
He turned back the house and with silent steps walked them down a path to the right. Morgianna was curious but did not ask questions knowing that the boy was leading them to where they were expected to be. After a couple twists and turns through a maze of flowers and bushes they arrived at a beautiful clearing. There were many tables set up with noble girls already sitting and talking and then one long table set up with finger foods and desserts.
The young butler cleared his throat a few times which got the attention of a few of the girls in attendance. "Announcing the arrival of Morgianna Bloodmoon." He quickly bowed not making eye contact with any of the girls before scurrying away. Morgianna wondered which one had been mean to him, or if it had been all of them.
She gave a small smile before making her way to the table that held the food in hopes of placing her cookies down. She could see a head of hot pink hair heading in her direction in her peripheral and internally screamed the smile on her face becoming harder to hold. She had not even been here for five minutes and already the would-be heroine has decided to make her presence known. She had almost reached the table when a slender white hand knocked the cookies from her hand causing them to spill on the ground.
"Oops, I am so soooorrrrry. I am such a klutz." She looked around noticing that she had gained the attention of some of the girls, but not as many as she had hoped. She turned so that her back was to the guests and with a sneer she chuckled darkly. She continued in a quiet voice so that nobody but Morgianna would hear. "I mean it is probably best that nobody eats those anyway, you being the villain in this story probably poisoned them. My name is Angeline Roth, make sure you remember it because later you will help me gather all the love." She gave an evil smile before stepping past Morgianna making sure she stepped on the cookies on her way.
Once she had stopped a couple of feet away Angeline turned with a bright fake smile. "I hope we can become great friends!" She waved with enthusiasm and made her way back to her seat all the while acting as if nothing had happened.
Morgianna knew she was going to be bad, yet she did not expect their meeting to go the way it had.
"What an evil b****. I thought she was supposed to be the good guy." The whispered words behind her made Morgianna turn at an alarming rate coming face to face with her host.
Olive Lovehearst had been hiding slightly behind the table eating snacks when she heard what Angeline had said. She did not expect to see the scene where the heroine met the villainess up close and personal only to be sorely disappointed when her hero had been such an ugly hearted person.
Olive's eyes widened when they met Morgianna's, she did not think the other girl would be able to hear her or she would not have carelessly spoken. She gulped and wished for a hole to swallow her right then and there but knew there no escape.
Both girls were caught in a staring contest neither knowing what to say. As Olive was thinking of a way to play off what she said Morgianna was using hers God's eye. Her stats were way beyond normal and nothing like the original character, yet that is not what made her pause. Under titles it showed she was the adopted daughter of the prime minister which was to be expected but the real shock was what it said next: the reincarnated soul of Olivia Bennedict.
Before she could stop herself she whispered, "reincarnated".
If Olive's eyes could get any larger they would probably fall out of her head. She was already panicking when Morgianna heard what she said but for her to know that she was reincarnated was making her panic on an all-new level.
As if snapping out of a trance Morgianna grabbed the girl's hand and started walking farther away from the party.
