Chapter 5 - Let The Hunt begin

Rolling over in my comfy bed I rub my eyes happy about it being a Saturday. Smiling I get up to see my mom in my doorway arms crossed.

"Yes, your majesty."

"Get up, come eat."

"Yes, ma'am." She chuckles and walks away. Yawning, I get up head into the bathroom. I took a shower last night so I brush my teeth and wash my face. Putting my glasses on instead of my contacts for once--and head downstairs. When I get there the council is sitting in the living room waiting for me, my mother is clearly annoyed.

"Good morning, Princess Angel." Rod Cliff smiles mischievously and I know something is up. "We heard you encountered someone at school..."

"Spying again Rod Cliff, how improper," I purr and he squirms. Chuckling to myself, I find a seat next to Lady Lilith, the only council member that I'll acknowledge. I smell him before I see him, but I inwardly groan as Lance comes into the room and makes Lady Lilith move so he can harass me. I growl at him as soon as he sits down.

"Angel!" My mother scolds. I meet her eyes and then look away not acknowledging him.

"What you greet your future husband?" Rod Cliff chuckles, this time my mother growls at him.The room is quickly silenced, any murmurs or whispering that was carrying on in the background is silenced.

"Why are you here?"

"If I may," Lady Lilith curtsies. My mother nods.

"We heard that Angel was almost...by an Alpha and thought we should speak to you about placing a guard of some sort with her...at school..."

"Excuse me..." I know where this is going. There's no way in hell, Lance is going to guard me. I look at my mother and she's thinking the same thing.

"Please, we just want to make sure you're safe and if Lance is with yo--..."

"Not going to happen." The council turns to my mother annoyed.

"But-"

"No but's. Lance is not my daughter's future anything, let alone her guard." Lance's everlasting creepy smile vanishes. He looks to his father, a cold evil glare is shared.

"Your majesty, I thought we agreed that our children would marry at the right age." Rod cliff says slowly eyes narrowed.

"You mean that night you tried to get me drunk and rape me, Rod Cliff? That one? Or the other time when you drugged me and tried to make me sign papers that benefited you and your son? Our that one time you--..."

"I understand, your majesty." Rod Cliff says standing up trying to ease away from the group but he's already been surrounded. He's about to lose his head, literally. My mother waves her hand and the guards teleport away.

"The only reason you remain alive is because killing you would mean killing your entire family. I'm not into genocide." The council members look at each other and say nothing. I try to hide my smirk knowing full well she's lying. It is, what it is.

"Then who will guard me, mom?" I ask to ease the tension in the room. I mean, in all truth I didn't need to be guarded. The council was trying to spy on my personal affairs and the fact that I'm a kickboxing and Tae Chai champion doesn't at all help their case. My mother looks at me, her perfectly trimmed eyebrow raised in amusement.

"I have a idea." Lady Lilith stands. I like this woman, but sometimes she can't take a hint. Lance relaxes a little waiting for Lilith to speak. "How about a tournament? Each council member can pick one champion and they'll take a series of test to determine who will guard the princess." Hmph, not a bad idea. I look at my mother and she nods.

"It makes sense. But how do we go about the test. We'd need someone to judge them other than the Princess and the Queen," asked a council member.

"Should we ask the captain of the guard?" Mother asked. All the council members nod in approval. "Well, that settles it. I'll ask the Captain of my private guard to be a judge and come up some appropriate test that can be tweaked by the princess to fit her environment and schedule. Sound good? Say, 'I'." The room becomes a chorus of falsetto and baron I's and then one by one they teleport way. To this day being able to teleport is probably the best thing about being a were-bunny for me until I mate. When I might depending on who it is will determine if I reach Goddess level gifts or if my current gifts just get super charged or a mixture of both. All "buns" specifically females have super strength and speed, with me being royalty I have that tenfold along with advanced hearing, smell and eyesight. I also have incredibly agility and flexibility. For "rabies" or males it's a 50-50 chance of having the strength of a human or a "bun." Usually, if the "rabies" father had super strength the child would too. But even that is a 50-50. Sighing, I decide to get up and head into the kitchen for breakfast. I finish eating and rush upstairs to finish my routine and head off to class.

School...

As I park my Jeep in her usual shady spot I sense a disturbance. Very slowly looking around I notice a blacked-out Mercedes. She's fucking beautiful and there's a crowd admiring her.

"Looks like you have competition, Bethany," I say rubbing the dash. In a few quick movements, I have my things and I'm walking to the entrance clicking my car keys so Beth is locked and the crowd notices me. Dylan rolls her eyes and heads in my direction. She's sauntering over in mom's heels and I'm immediately want to punch her in the face.

"I call dibs."

"What are you five?" I walk off from her, knowing if she touched Beth I'd murder her. Taking a deep breath I walk in and go straight to my locker to get my notes for advance Chem when I smell him. I turn around and the wolves at my school are annoyed by his presence. He's looking right at me, smiling he waves. I nod in acknowledgment and quickly head to class. Why the hell is he here?!
