Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

I found it really hard to sleep, I decided to write my essay.

WHY I SHOULD BE THE CLASS PRESIDENT SET OF 2020.

My name is Barbara Marvel Jesus. I am a final year student of Duncan high school. I am sixteen years old.

I write this essay to declare my intention to contest for the post of class president in the upcoming student council election.

I should be nominated for the post of a class president because I am a very diligent student, I carry out responsibilities earnestly and vigorously.

Secondly, I am not a bully. It is no news that bullying makes school unbearable for the victim which can lead to truancy. I am bounded by strong anti-bullying policies and I believe that there should be equality among students. I do not believe in the theory that some students are special than others and that preference should be given to one student. Considering my strong anti-bullying and anti favouritism policies, I believe that I make a good leader.

Speaking of leadership traits, I once attended a leadership training class during the summer of 2017 when I was in grade 9. I got four badges out of five available badges and even a certificate of leadership, the summer program helped me and changed my views on leadership. If given the opportunity, I promise to prove to be an exemplary leader and take Duncan high to greater heights.

Bad company they say corrupt good manners. I have clean records from my past and present schools. I am a good role model for students my age and younger. I also do not have bad friends or keep bad company.

Service to humanity is one of my main philosophies and beliefs. I am a giver, am generous and magnanimous. In my former school, I have done a lot of fundraising programs for school clubs. I was also a member of a voluntary organization for homeless and sick people.

A wise once said and I quote" if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I believe so much in having a good plan to everything you set to do in life and I am strongly against procrastination as I do not practice it. I should be nominated for the post of the class president in an upcoming student council election because I'more than ready to use my great planning skills and qualities to move the school forward.

I'm a very honest and down-to-earth person and I'm not the type of person to squander money. I'm very careful with funds and know how to keep track of money. Being a public school, Duncan high school needs a president that is financially wise and know how to spend money judiciously.

As a result of my confidence and great oratory skills, I can boldly represent the school at state and national levels. I believe so much in the power of words and I also believe that your voice is your greatest asset and weapon.

A reader is a leader. I am an A-plus student and a great reader too. I'm an excellent student and I do all my school works diligently. Judging by my past and present records, if academic excellence is the basis of nomination, I should be considered the best for this post.

I respect authority and I am not a very frequent offender. In addition, I believe so much in the power of constituted authority and if made one I promise not to misuse my authority.

Humility, self-reliance, integrity, respect and truth in words and action are my watchwords.

All of the aforementioned factors and more is why I, Barbara Marvel Jesus should be nominated for the post of class president in the upcoming student council election.

I looked at my essay and felt pleased with myself. I folded the paper and placed it in between one of my books. I put the book and pen in my bag and laid on my bed to sleep.

I found it even harder to sleep, I guessed it must have been a result of the coffee I drank with Principal McAllister earlier that night. I was never the type to drink coffee, I never acquired a taste for it. Then I remembered my dad, he was a great fan of coffee when he was alive.

I missed my dad that night more than I had ever missed him before. After he died, I used to dream about him every night. In my dreams, he would sing me a lullaby and tuck me in bed. The dreams stopped a few months after he died. That night, I felt a sudden urge to see him and hold him so close to me. I checked my phone for pictures of my dad and me.
