Chapter 3 - Prof. Pan Xue

Suddenly the class went silent, and Rong Chi lifted his eyes to see who arrived. He was startled as he saw Prof. Pan Xue entering the lecture hall dressed in beautiful purple long shirt and black trousers.

Although Prof. Xue was in her late 40's but due to her beautiful facial features and slim figure, she looked like in her early 30's. She was famous for being very strict to people who don't like Archaeology and he was on top of the list.

But most surprising fact was very few know that she was Yan Xuan's mother and Rong Chi was one of them.

"Hey Xuan look, it's your mother, Prof. Pan Xue conducting today's lecture." Rong Chi said with serious face.

With even more scared face, Rong Chi continued, "We are dead mate today. She knows us very well that we are not interested in Archaeology."

When Yan Xuan raised his head up, he saw it was really his mother delivering the lecture on archaeological excursions. It was not surprising for him as he knew his mother was the head of dept of Archaeology.

He calmly said," So what?? Just stay low and don't open your mouth at all. You will be safe."

Rong Chi almost puked blood," Ha-ha are you forgetting that right now you are in limelight and eyes are hungrily staring at you. How can we stay low?"

Looking around for a moment he continued," Well not all." And started laughing again.

Xuan understood the hidden meaning and smacked Rong Chi's head saying," Shut up!" and focused his eyes on the book he was reading.

When Prof. Pan Xue was planning to conduct today's lecture, she knew that only 5 – 10 students will be attending it irrespective of the huge enrolment number which she received as a confirmation from admin department.

Archaeology was taken as a lame subject by students of current generation.

The thought that only those who were truly interested will be attending her lectures would make her happy. So, she didn't mind when there was below average attendance for her lecture.

She also knew the fact that rest of them who enrolled only wanted to add it on their annual academic points without even attending the session.

Enrolling for vocational subject was a mandatory rule from University to widen the scope of ignored subjects.

But today the case was different. She was completely blown away after seeing that more than 30 students were attending her lecture. Entire classroom was filled with new faces leaving no space to occupy even one more person in it.

She also saw that few of them were standing near the corner rows while few were still rushing inside before the lecture starts.

As she was scanning her eyes through the crowd to make sure what was going on, she spotted a familiar young handsome boy sitting calmly as usual with his focus completely on the book in his hand.

He was completely lost in his book and didn't bother about the surrounding at all.

After taking observing minutely, she recognised him and then came another shock to her. It was none other than her son, Yan Xuan.

She muttered "Yan Xuan" in very low voice which was only audible to her.

For her, having Yan Xuan attending her class was completely out of the world. She and her late husband Prof. Yan Min both were Archaeologist. They both met while they were with their separate troops in Egypt for some Archaeological excavation and fell in love.

It was love at first sight for both and after accompanying each other on dangerous journey in Egypt, their bond got even more stronger. They got married as soon as they came back home.

Prof. Yan Min was later diagnosed with Leukaemia. Yan Xuan was only of 8 years old when he lost his father.

Pan Xue knew that it was hard for little Xuan to live with the fact that he had lost his father and so she decided to not go on anymore Archaeological surveys and excursions like before.

With her talent, she found a job as a professor of Archaeology in Beijing University so that she can accompany little Xuan more than before.

In absence of his mother, Xuan spent most of the time with his maternal uncle who was a leader of leading team in MMORPG gaming world.

Watching Uncle Zhan play the game was enough for Yan Xuan to get attracted to gaming world. He started getting curios about all things inside an outside the game.

'How does it work? 'was the main question whose answer Yan Xuan tried to figure out all the time right until today.

He started learning the bits and pieces of it. He immersed himself in it and later discovered that his passion for life was game development.

Initially it was disappointing for Pan Xue to see that Xuan never took interest in Archaeology even when she insisted him for an entire year.

He had explained her that he only has interest in Computers and more specifically in Game Development.

Knowing how stubborn he was and now that he was so determined, she also stopped nagging him about studying Archaeology.

Coming back to present, Prof. Pan Xue's initial suspicion was gone after looking at her son attending her lecture.

She understood the reason behind today's high attendance was all because of this young man who was a heartthrob of entire university.

As she analysed the faces in front of her, there were mostly girls wanting to sneak a glance at him and some boys who came to stop their girlfriends from eyeing Xuan but now they were drinking vinegar.

Prof. Pan Xue was in utter disbelief and wanted to rush to Xuan in order to confirm if she was seeing right. If it was not her illusion.

She wanted to ask him why he was here attending the class which he didn't like at all.

She was also worried after looking at his sullen face as if someone has snatched his candy?

After looking at the increasing chaos she pushed aside the thought of confronting him leaving the discussion for later when they go home.

Shifting her attention towards entire class, she said," Okay settle down everyone. Let's begin with today's class."
