Chapter 12 - Arc 1: Going Out (7.3)

When Fernand took the prince inside the library, the receptionist at the entrance looked up and astonished.

"Where are the books on meteorology and astronomy?"

"I'll guide you"

Fernand glanced at the prince as the attendant took the lead. As I expected, there is no particular reaction. To the naive boy, it doesn't seem like a strange sight to see the staff member's unnatural tension or the people rushing across the aisle to open the way. Instead, he was fascinated by the structure of the building and the bookshelves arranged in an orderly manner.

Fernand nodded at the guide when they came to the bookshelf and left. The prince was eagerly looking at the spine of the book.

"Are there any titles that interest you?"

"...Hmm...what should I do?"

Fernand wondered how readable the prince could be. I didn't even have a book in his room, so I never saw him reading.

When Fernand thought that he should borrow a dictionary,

"this," the prince reached out for a book.

"...Are you sure?"

The prince picked up a book written in a far distant foreign language.

"Yeah, I wonder what the "Four Seasons of the Sky" look like."

The prince understood exactly the title of the book. It was obvious that he was drawn to foreign blood from his appearance, but he was born in Maillard, was confined in his room from an early age, and was forced to live a life where he could not be satisfied with food even if he understood the language of other countries. Is a surprising fact.

"The prince knows the Runan language. Is there any other foreign language you can understand?"

"It's the old language of Runan... but I just forgot it because I was taught as a child."

"Who taught you ?"

"Ichi"

The prince opened the book. Flipping a few pages and raise his eyebrows.

"The pictures aren't tiny...the letters are fine and there are many words I don't know."

"So, do you want to make the book easier? How about this?"

Fernand presented a book written in the most common common language on the continent, including Barthelemy and Maillard. It was a book for children with illustrations. However, the prince shook his head just looking at the cover.

"I don't know that letter, so I can't read it."
