Silverstein's emerald eyes locked with mine an air of arrogance radiated off of him as he strode towards me. For a moment I was lost in his gaze as something deep inside howled at me trying to run towards the surface.
I blink for a moment and turned my head; looking across the street was Drake. his almond brown eyes lock with mine and inside it feels like something slithers towards the surface hissing quietly as if stalking its prey.
"Kera!" I hear my dad yell from across the way and I turned to face him.
"Daddy!" I squeal like a young school girl running towards him.
"How was your day?" He inquires paying no attention to the two males.
"Can we go home and talk?" I asked trying hard not to glance behind me.
"Sure. I have more work to do when we get back after dinner. How about your favorite fusion place?" He asked looking at his watch.
"Okay..." I say. my dad hates cooking when he's working on a project. I know my aunt texted him about my son so going out for dinner wasn't abnormal for us. I just dislike eating out.
"Let's go I got a lot to do," he says. I follow him to his truck and get into the front seat. I take a deep breath. Safe. For now.

I watch as she ran to her dad and stop in my steps. I know better than to approach her now.
I look over and see that snake, Drake. I walk over towards him. I've hated him since day one. Cold-blooded creature.
"Don't get any ideas, snake," I growl at him. Drake glares at me and then changes to a smug expression.
"What ideas do you have, dog?" He says looking me up and down. As if he has a right to judge me!
"She's mine you cold-blooded reptile so back off now while I feel generous," I say with loathing.
"We will see about that, mutt. Remember, I owe you for the drop in our company stock along with the loss of two key properties. Whose to say I wouldn't take her for that reason alone," he says.
"Just goes to show how the Naga clan is a bunch of losers," I say preparing for a fight. I've been itching to knock the scales off this reptile.
"You forget yourselves, boys," a voice from beside us says. I turn my head to see an older lady with long dark brown hair with a few wisps of gray up in a bun held by what looks like colored pencils. She looks very eccentric for an older lady.
"Excuse us ma'am, we're just having a heated debate about company stocks," I tried to play off uncertain all of what she heard.
"Silverstein, I know more than enough about you, young man, for you to lie to me," she says cross. I lower my head in shame, Drake snickers.
"Mr. Nagasaki, don't think you're blameless in this," her eyes turn to him and he stands straight up.
"Yes, ma'am. My apologies," Drake says slightly bowing. The lady slightly bows back.
"I accept your apology. I remind both of you that fighting between Weres without permission is prohibited in Pan territory no matter the reason. As heirs to your respective clans, I expect better behavior. If there is a matter that needs to be worked out then come to my office in the Art Department tomorrow. Do I make myself clear?" she says with great authority. Her presence tells me that she isn't someone to mess with.
"Yes ma'am. Crystal clear," I say.
"Good, I believe you are late for practice, Silverstein," she says with a knowing tone.
I nod my head and walk off towards the football field like a dog whose been punished leaving the snake with the eccentric woman.
I get to the locker room and I hurry up and change into my gear. I run out to the field where we practice and everyone is already doing drills. I tried to sneak in but the coach catches me.
"Nice of you to join us, Silverstein. That'll be twenty laps around the field!" He yells.
"Yes, coach," I say back loud enough for him to hear me and I get to running. 'It's going to be a long night.'
