I turned away, unlocking our gazes. This was slowly becoming unbearable. Soon the prince had made is way to the dance floor of the banquet hall, mingling with the different houses. Grabbing a glass of fine wine on the table I had suddenly grown accustomed to standing next to, I chugged it down in one gulp.

'Fate is not going to change by standing next to a table, winter.' I prepped myself.

Taking a breath I walked onto the floor towards where groups of people gathered to talk to one another. Trying to figure out who to join someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around coming face to face with the son of the Duke of Leviton. Robin.

why was he approaching me? It sure seemed like a bastard child isn't meant to be in his social standing, let alone someone he was meant to be talking to. Just as he was about to speak severe other people joined, creating yet another group. Was this how it worked during balls and events?

"Duke Leviton, you seem to be dashing today as well." One of the maidens spoke out, sugar coating her words.

"Oh why thank you. I don't suppose you have all met Winter of house Monroe?" he questioned bringing attention to me.

Everyone's faces seemed to squirm. I hadn't even done anything yet I was being disliked.

"A beauty indeed." One of the younger men had said with a smile. "I'm Adrian Francis, son of Count Francis. A pleasure to meet you." He bowed slightly, making me bow as well with a smile.

"Ah, that right, Winter, was the Duke of Dominic not meant to escort you?" one of the women asked. I turned to face her.

Her face held not an ounce of curiosity. She was simply trying to create a scandalous conversation. Sadly for her, I've seen countless women of her stature.

"Well sadly my sister was missing an escort herself, being a child born out of wedlock does become difficult when you're forced to give up things, even those you once cared dearly about," I said making her shut up.

"It must have been very difficult, lady Monroe," Robin spoke out. "Well, in my opinion, someone like you definitely stands brighter than both your sister and the Duke of Dominic." He said with a smile.

Was he allowed to slander like that? No one said a word making it seem as though it was never said. Is this what it meant to have a higher standing? Music had begun to play as everyone began taking the hands of their partners, ready to step aside I was stopped.

"My lady, would you care to dance?" Robin questioned putting his hand out to me, taking me by surprise.

What was he up to?

"The pleasure is mine," I said taking his hand, with a small nod.

We flowed into the crowd our dance steps flowing with one another. He made small jokes here and there keeping me attentive to him. Well, this was certainly interesting. I couldn't figure out his aim in doing all of this until a certain someone's face caught my view.

Oh, what a sly bastard.

Anthony stood ready to barge into the dance floor to rip him away from me, but what was this? Did he not want my sister seconds ago? Ha! This is why you don't fall in love blindly. You become blind to the flaws that could've saved you. The music slowly came to an end, as we curtsied to one another. Walking aside. Robin excused himself as I made my way to the table with wine.

This has become my safe haven. I might as well glue myself here for a while.

Taking a glass ready to ease away all the tension, I heard the one voice I would've buried ten feet underground if I had just been a tad bit crazy.

"Winter, I see you're doing well at the party" Anita spoke out making me ready to walk away.

'image winter, fate change without image isn't going to work.'

Turning around I displayed my best smile. "Sister," I said joyfully.

Though she wasn't alone. 3 other women stood beside her. What was this? A gangbang? Were they coming at me all at once?

"I hope the event was t your liking. After all, you hadn't come out for so long." She said. "The difficulty when people are constantly mocking you. But it's okay, I'll be here o help you no matter what."

If my mouth could fall, it would have fallen a while ago. How can someone be so good at pretending while slandering? It's got to be an art on its own.

"Well, I mean, father did feel his embarrassment. And poor mother, she had gone through the worse." I said pointing out old scars.

"Yes…, it seems it was. Hence why you suffered. I mean your mother had made a mistake by doing what she had done moreover, making you suffer while she ran away abandoning you."

I was prepared to throw my fists, but words hurt more.

"I'm so sorry sister, father's weakness had caused him to fall into the charms of a lowly maid. I can't express the sadness I felt when mother almost lost her mind and you being left … all alone, oh, it's all my fault." I said with the saddest expression I could make.

Anita looked as though she was going to rip my hair out any moment and I wanted to laugh at her expression. Who picked a fight first? I'm pretty sure it wasn't me. Smiling, after giving her hand I light squeeze, I made myself ready to leave.

"Well then, if you'll excuse me."

"Oh my…!" I heard her gasp as everything went in slow motion.

I felt myself fall over, the wine in my glass spilling forward. I hit the hard ground, the glass shattering in my hand from the impact. Gasps seemed to echo throughout the banquet hall.

"Y-Your highness." Anita gasped almost shocked.

His highness? Wha-

I looked up only fro my heart to stop. There he stood. Wine spilt over his attire. My breath hitched in my throat. Was this how fate was going to play?

I'm so dead. Again.
