Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Beginning a Journey

I speed as fast as I can towards the noise of the fighting. I see below me two people with 4 hellish beasts surrounding them. The man screamed something and I could see energy release from his body, Magic? Maybe an active skill?. All four undead monsters charged at him as the women began to turn and run.

I swiftly activate the special property of my item holsters, teleporting my staff of magic and replacing it with a long golden and silver staff topped with a shining diamond. The Staff of Holy Might. I concentrated upon the item's power and expended a charge of its might to cast a spell, Holy Chain Bolt.

I extend the staff and it lets out a pure white bolt of spell energy towards the closest monster. Either way it looks like that blew it to oblivion.

Three more bolts of energy arch from the body of the first target, well where the body was, and strike all three monster dogs. They all fade into oblivion as the light fades.

I fly down to the two humans...strike that...I'm not sure what they are. They have slick black hair and one central eye each. Their hands have three fingers. They don't look like monsters exactly, but they could be something like a cyclops. One is a tall, male?, in banded steel armor that looks light and flexible but very sturdy. He holds a large kite shaped shield and some sort of heavy hammer. The shield has a crest of a gray spear over a yellow sun, on a black field. The thinner cyclops person was wearing leather armor and holding a bow, I wonder if she has some kind of ranger class. I see the same crest on the breast of her armor. They were looking up at me with utter amazement.

The male elf recovers first and takes a defensive pose in front of the female, who swiftly draws her bow and speaks up.

"Identify yourself stranger"

I land about 30 feet in front of them and hold my hands up and out.

"I'm just a magic caster passing through, my name is… Cornelius Alexander Magnus Rex. Just call me Cornelius. You two are?"

The male elf barks out

"Where do you hail from and what country do you belong to? I've never heard of House Mangus or a country Rex!!?"

"It is a bit rude to not give your names after asking for mine?"

"Forgive my brother, he is wary of strangers. I am Miranda Von Clestead and this is my brother Mowgli Von Clestead. We are members of the noble family that rules this land, could you tell us what your purpose is here."

Nobles huh, well at least I found people rather quickly. But how do I explain how I got here… I'm not even from here. However if I want them to trust me, I'd better not lie at all. I get the feeling that they would see right through me.

"Well, that's a bit of a hard thing to explain. I just sort of woke up here. I'm not entirely sure how I got here but I'm fairly certain I'm from nowhere near here."

***

The Strange creature who unleashed a powerful magic and decimated the Nightmare hounds in one blast stood awkwardly in front of us. This creature was humanoid in shape, pale skin like an Oreite, their people. He has brown hair cut nearly to his skull and a strange metallic circuit around his head with a jewel in the center. He is wearing strange green tinted full plate armor. He held a strange staff of gold and silver and an oddly decorated shield. Mo moved to defend me and I drew an arrow.

His name is odd, the only ones in these lands with 4 names are the royal family. Nobles had three. Full Guild Members and some clergy had two. Commoners had one. Was this guy a foreign royal? I've never heard of a kingdom of Rex.

He doesn't look like he is lying, but his story seems full of holes.

"How did you get here?"

"I believe I was transported here through some magical accident. I'm from a place called New York"

"Never heard of it. You are in the Cunsdom of Clestead within the kingdom of Ore. I've never seen magic like that, you didn't create a glyph or even chant. How are you doing it"

"Hmmm, so You've seen magic before then? I suppose the easiest way to explain it is that my magic is channeled through objects that I infuse with spells, so I don't need to chant or the like."

"I've never heard of such magic, your magical weapons don't need command words to cast spells?"

"No, they are commanded mentally."

Hmm, this is amazing. If what he says is true this strange man is able to use magic and make items beyond what her father's greatest artisans can create. If he is really from far away, I need to secure his good will and cooperation for my father and my city.

"Would you happen to work for hire, master mage? It appears you are rather lost and we can

"I'll help you. normally I try to avoid trouble but, I have already inserted myself...so I would hate for you to be saved just to die on the way home."
