Imber arrived a few hours after Aqua took a beating in the Dome. The bond between mates is something I still marvel at. He knew from a distance of a few hundred miles that something was wrong and came immediately. The worry etched in his face broke my heart.
"She will survive." Rex told him. "Her recovery will be slow but already her vitals are promising."
Imber only nodded solemnly as we left.
We made our way back to our room.
"Regina?"
I turned to Rex halfway undressed. I still wore my black leggings but my shoes and socks were off. My breast were spilling out of my bra. I hadn't noticed anything before. They felt swollen and sore.
"Yes?" I responded noticing his eyes flickering from silver to black.
"You are breathtaking." He whispered but I still heard him.
I looked down at the tiny bump of weight I'd put on. Hardly imperceptible but I could see the subtle change.
In the blink of an eye he had me engulfed in his large, muscular arms. They were tanned from his time spent in the sun. His lips came down and softly traced a line from my ear to my collarbone.
"Mmmm." I purred.
"I need you." His words came out in a ragged whisper.
"I'm yours." I say grasping his face in both of my hands.
I bring his lips to mine and kiss him fervently. His hands move to my waist and grasp my hips firmly. He lifts me up so I wrap my legs around his torso. Without breaking lip contact, he places me gently on the bed. He hovers over me for a moment before kissing his way down to my stomach.
"Hi little one." He says kissing my bump. In an instant he's undressed my entire body.
His lips and tongue find their way between my legs. I grasp his hair as my back arches in pleasure. A moan that sounds nothing like me escapes my lips. It's got to be the pregnancy hormones making this feel even better than I could have imagined. Not that it wasn't phenomenal before, but this is at a supernatural level.
A finger is inserted inside me and I convulse immediately. I feel a hum of approval radiate from his throat to between my thighs. When I'm done shuddering, he removes his own clothing.
"You were worth the wait." He says slowly lowering himself into me.
As our bodies intertwined I felt like I was on an astral plane. Each collision of hands, lips, and limbs sent tingling sensations rippling throughout my body. Rex's eyes were pure black and his fangs were slightly visible.
"Mine." He growled thrusting with high intensity.
"Yours." I cried out, spilling over the edge again.
I felt his release and it was longer than any he'd had before. When he opened his eyes, silver shone brilliantly. He rolls off and onto his back beside me.
"What was that?" I whisper, unable to move.
"I have no idea." Rex says reaching for my hand.
We lay there, exposed and holding hands for what felt like eternity.
"I want to fight." I say finally.
"Absolutely not." It sounded as though he suppressed a growl.
"It's Indicum. He's a childhood friend. Plus we have a side bet."
"For you, I won't kill him." Rex says, anger still palpable. "What's your side bet?"
"I get his collection if I win. If he wins, he gets Niveus."
"You didn't..." Rex's eyes were pure black in anger.
"Look, we said we'd let the fates decide."
"You know those three hags have it out for me, don't you?" Rex scoffs. "Just because they can see destiny doesn't mean they should have a say in any of this."
"Well, normally I agree, I may or may not have already talked to Niveus about this."
"And?"
"Niveus said she doesn't see herself leaving our pack, ever." I release his hand to get up and use the restroom. "So that's a good thing right?"
When I enter the room again the conversation continues as though I hadn't left.
"You know she can't force fate, she can only see what the Moon Goddess shows her." Rex says as though he's talking to a small child.
"I understand that. I also have full confidence in winning. Our side bet won't stand if you are in my stead."
"What's his collection anyways?"
"You're going to call me a nerd."
"Nerd." We both laughed. "Okay now that's out of the way, what is it?"
"Indicum collects first edition books and comics. Last time I saw the collection it was almost a thousand."
Rex shook his head. "You are... always a surprise my love."
"Not nerdy?"
"Well, I didn't say that." I hit him with a a pillow. The pillow burst and feathers went in every direction. "Easy there mama bear."
"Woah, is this what they're talking about when they say you get pregnancy strength? I'm a badass!"
"You've always been a badass." Rex smiles and gets up to get dressed.
He puts on a pair of dark wash blue jeans over red boxer briefs. Then a button down white shirt that accentuates his tanned shin.
I pick white lace undergarments and a pale purple practically lilac dress. It has thick straps and an empire waist subtly hiding the tiny baby bump.
"I'm surprised rumor of your pregnancy hasn't run rampant through our community." Rex says after brushing his teeth.
"They'd rather focus on rumors I'm hiding behind my pack members or trying to give female members more of an opportunity to prove their worth in the Dome. Who knows?" I shrug after throwing my hair up into a messy bun.
"The final challenge is tomorrow. We had better go see Vulpes and Indicum."
I nodded, unwilling to object.
"You're hungry." Rex stated, damn mate link with emotions.
"Yes." I admit.
"Good, let's eat."
