Chereads / Canis Lupus / Chapter 19 - Challenge 2

Chapter 19 - Challenge 2

Standing inside The Dome, I feel like an animal caged for the entertainment of others. Looking around, I notice the stadium is packed. Obviously Clan Primus has a lot of adoring fans. They are the original pack of our area. Not to mention the largest in both land and pack member size.

Nimbus was right, the warrior that Clan Primus chose in the Alpha's stead was a large dude. I could tell his wolf would be massive.

When the Challenge Coordinator left the ring. We started at one another.

"Look, I don't want to hurt you little girl." He said. Thankfully The Dome was soundproof. "Yield and give us what we want."

"Over my dead body." I growl.

"I've been advised not to kill you. That doesn't mean I won't severely maim you." He shifts but stays on his side.

I shift and stay on my side. When we are wolves we can't communicate. I guess he said all there was to say.

He paced toward me two steps and I crouched in position. Quickly he sprinted at me and lunged. I moved out of the way and turned to face him. Nimbus was right. He used a lot of energy to come at me full tilt. All he'd need is one good hit and I'd be out for the count. He puts a lot of weight on his front paws when attacking so that when he connects, his prey is done.

I feign to the right and he attacks. Full speed and full strength. Quickly, I backpedal but not fast enough. He clips my shoulder and I spin out of control. Landing roughly on the dirt. My shoulder is fractured but I get up. Limping away, he has barely recovered. Without waiting, he bounds for me again. Werewolf healing is fast, but not that fast. When he is a few yards away, I shift into human form. Confused he barrels right over me. Narrowly he misses stepping on me. As he's above me, trying to slow his pace, I shift again knocking him off his feet. He lies stunned for a moment before shaking himself off and getting back up.

By the time he advances again, my shoulder is healed. I wait until the last possible moment and leap over him. Digging my claws into his back as he passes beneath me.

He cries out in anger more than in pain. Due to his strength and force, he's slower than I am. We've showed each other our true strengths.

This time I advance, and sprint at him. He braces himself for impact and I slash at him before I turn sideways. He catches my leg during this attempt and throws me against the side of The Dome. In a matter of seconds, he's on top of me. The full weight of his wolf crushing my throat and chest. I slash at his throat but he's holding me at a distance. Instead of struggling, I pull his weight into my chest and with my back paws I kick as hard as I can. He's knocked off of me and his stomach is raw with blood.

I advance with my sunken chest cavity. Barely able to breath I get to him before he can get up. I bite his neck and feel his whole strength push me. He flings me off him, but his neck was already in my jaws. With his attempt to get rid of me, I tore his throat open. Shock apparent in his pure black eyes. He shifted back into a human and grasped at his neck. I laid there, willing myself to heal faster. My breath was coming out in bloody rasps.

The match was called, I was the victor. Doctors came out to help us both. By the time they reached me I was already in human form and breathing easier. They handed me a blanket to hide my naked body. When they reached him, he was dead.

"Damn, I thought he had you there." Prudens says, relief evident in his voice.

I shrug. "I'm hungry. Get me food while I deal with the terms."

I got some land and an alliance for one year with the Primus Clan. Not too shabby. Lucky for them I was their last challenge. They'd have another year to train a new warrior.

On my way back to the mansion, I could feel his presence. Did heightened awareness come with the magic wearing off? I obviously knew he was my mate from the get go, but being able to sense him was a whole new level of intensity. He must've felt me too because he looked up from dinner with the goth.

When our eyes made contact, I looked away. My stomach growled with both hunger and desire. I pressed the elevator button, waiting for a ride to my floor. Breathing in heavily, I could smell him too close for comfort.

"What stalker?" I said before I turned around, clutching the blanket tighter around me.

"I missed your match. Who won?"

"It's obvious isn't it? I'm here, aren't I?" The elevator doors opened slowly. All I wanted was to shower and eat in peace.

"Congratulations. Two victories."

I turned to face him and realized he'd gotten into the elevator with me. He pressed the door shut button and my floor number. Smirking, I cross my hands over my chest. He is going to be in one hell of a shock when he tries to get off at my floor.

Moving closer, I back away slightly. Bumping into the wall of the elevator. Stupid small confined space.

"Does blood and sweat turn you on?" I say clutching the blanket tighter.

A hum in his throat told me he didn't care. "Let's have a look at what's under that blanket, shall we?"

The doors ping open and I duck around him, stepping out into the corridor.

Praesul asks for control and I give it to her. "You can look, but you can't touch."

Facing him, just out of reach, she drops the towel to the floor. His eyes roam my body greedily and I'm ready to be mounted.

"I can smell your arousal from here and it's driving me fucking wild." He goes to step out after me but an invisible barrier keeps him back. Confusion clouds his silver blue eyes and then recognition. "You're clever."

I walk away, giving him a full view of my bare ass.
