Murder

Four months have passed since Aira entered that door and met her father. Left alone hoping they would form a bond, her mother returns to her home.

'These people... My father and stepmother all they've done since I got here is fight... I want to go home... Even though my grandparents were strict and I never had free time, this sort of fighting never occurred... I hate it here... I hate them!!! Why did mother leave me here..? I don't understand...' Aira thought as the yelling from downstairs became louder and louder. The arguments had raged on for hours as she hid in her room. Every now and again Aira would hear what sounded like glass breaking. This torrent of emotions filled the house as the pressure and anger consumed all rationality. Finally the sound of a gun reverberated throughout the entire home...

Aira could hear a loud ringing in her ears as it echoed in her mind until the sound registered. A cold sweat covered Aria's body as her eyes went wide and her blood went cold. 'W-what just happened!!? That wasn't what I think it is right..? T-this... Is terrifying...' Aria thought holding her knees as she hid in the closet in her room. With great effort she attempts to calm down. Fingers trembling, she cracks the door of the closet. One stream of light covered a sliver of her face, illuminating one eye.

'Why is it so quiet..? I can barely see anything too... Did someone die..? I'm scared... I'm scared.. I'm so scared...' Aria thought trying to see as much as she can through the small crack. Noticing the phone on the bed she stares intently. 'I need to call the police... But... I'm so scared... What if someone comes here while I'm getting the phone..? What if I'm killed!? I don't want to die...' Aria thinks, her mind wild with worry. Her entire body trembles imagining herself as a lifeless body... Covering her mouth with her hand she cracks the door wider. Loud squeaking could be heard outside the door, as though coming from a floor board, startling Aria. 'Squeaking!? T-that sounds like the squeaking from the stairs... I have to get that phone now!!!' Aria thought running to the phone, she picks it up and returns to the safety of the closet.

Turning the phone on she goes straight to contacts, dialing the authorities. After a few seconds of ringing someone picks up "Help me... Please... I heard what sounds like a gun shot and someone coming upstairs." Aria voice trembles, whispers in the phone with tears streaming down her face.
