Fern opens Freeman Market as normal. She has decided she won't take an afternoon off, in order to try and make more money before Mr. Daniels' return on Sunday.
At 7, she closes the store and Aunt Marcy picks her up. Marcy is treating Fern to a movie to help her relax and get her mind off of all the crazy things going on.
Fern hasn't told Aunt Marcy about the ultimatum Dominic Daniels gave her, but Marcy can still tell that Fern is stressed.
They buy candy at a cheap little store on the way to the theater and hide it in Aunt Marcy's purse to avoid paying for the overpriced candy the movie theaters sell.
Fern and James get a popcorn to share, and Aunt Marcy gets a soda.
In the theater, they sit in the very back row. There's only a couple of other people in the theater because this movie has been in theaters for a month.
They laugh and cry, and James laughs at Fern for crying.
James hugs Fern goodbye as they drop her off at Freeman Market. Fern thanks Aunt Marcy from the bottom of her heart. She needed the joy she had tonight.
Fern goes into her apartment, brushes her teeth, and applies her skincare routine before sleeping soundly.
