Seeing this thug number 2 hurriedly jumped out to stop this attack but only diverted half of it. However, the rest of the attack reached Jerry and almost crippled him. He immediately started to scream loudly in pain and didn't care about hiding it.
"Third brother, why would you try to kill him? Do you know that Ji Tiandi will account us for this?"
"Hmph, it's his fault for daring to insult me like this. Maybe I got a little angry, let's go before anyone notices us."
Even though it was in the middle of the night, they couldn't be sure that everyone was resting and no one passed here therefore, they left as fast as they can. Jerry remained alone in the darkness, bleeding out of his mouth. The pain was overwhelming but he failed to pass out and therefore, felt the pain endlessly for the entire night and spent the night cursing eighteen generations of those thugs. It was after seven hours of screaming that he was able to endure the pain and finally start walking back to the pen since it was already morning and time for work. He went to Wu Xue and mentioned how he was injured by a robber on his way home from outside and request a few days off for healing. After Wu Xue carefully investigated his injury, he was allowed one week of rest and beyond that he would be fired for being useless in the mansion. During that week, he tried to cultivate with a wounded body and coughed up more blood than he thought he had. Almost everyone who knew him, and even the chef advised him not to practice as it will hurt his meridians and render him useless. He ignored all this until one day his roommates once again found him cultivating. Seeing them, he couldn't hesitate but curse them to their faces knowing they wouldn't dare hurt him. However, he ignored their shamelessness and they slapped him and then tore the manual that he had gotten with his savings. His heart was in turmoil and he almost went crazy with sadness. The goons left him alone to wallow in his sorrow and he knew he may never get enough money to buy another manual. He finally cried and didn't even wipe the tears on his face. This was too depressing for him and the calamities were endless. He always thought that since he emotionally immature, he could resist live dramas and cheating since he was a straight forward person however he finally discovered that life has many means to cause you pain.
The next two days were filled with him recovering from his wounds and trying to regain the strength to be able to work. He had gathered all the pieces of the torn manual and tried to piece them together to form a congruent pattern that looks like cultivation however he failed. He just decided to grab a quill a copy down this pattern of letters and go with that since the manual was already falling apart. He knew it was a stupid idea to do so since the chef had explicitly instructed him to never do such a thing as cultivating with a randomly put together manual might lead to the rupture of meridians. However he still wanted to take a chance and maybe try to cultivate half of it since that wouldn't be dangerous in itself. When he tried doing that, nothing happened at all. He couldn't even feel the heat in his abdomen like the first time he cultivated with the manual. He wanted to try cultivating with the new random manual fully but felt scared by the chef's words and didn't dare to do so.
A month passed and he had almost healed all the injuries and he was forgotten again until it was time to feast on his precious sheep. He grumblingly prepared a feast for everyone working in the pen and they didn't even help once, even some uninvited guests came and joined the feast while talking to each other, totally ignoring him. That was the second most depressing day of his life and therefore when it reached evening, he didn't hesitate to pull out his manual and cultivate according to it. He first sat in a meditation stance and placed his hands on his thighs while calming down his mind. He tried to breathe according to the manual halfway and felt nothing. After that, he finally decided to go all out and cultivate the manual fully for a full hour until he felt the same heat in his abdomen. Before a smile appeared on his face, he felt the old injury reappearing and suddenly felt cold in his abdomen and passed out.
...
At this moment, someone in a different place, the place was so far from where Jerry was that it was inconceivable to imagine. There were clanking sounds. These were sounds of glasses clinking with each other. There was a dinner table filled with all kinds of fruits and vegetables. The bowls and plates holding the food where exaggeratedly luxurious and the glasses filled with wine seemed to be crystal clear and almost transparent and the only indication that they existed was that a gorgeous red color liquid was floating within the glass. On such a marvelous table, there were two chairs opposite it and an old man and young girl where seated on them. The old man looked like a normal middle aged boomer around 50 years old while the lady looked under 25 years old. They were busy discussing a recent project they worked on and the financial situation of the company under them until they both suddenly kept quiet. The old man spoke up after taking a sip of the red colored wine and looked up at the endless brilliance surrounding the table of the two. He seemed to be looking at those fireflies like sparks moving around in the air and shook his head with a sad expression.
"Dad, don't tell me it's what I think it is."
The girl suddenly looked depressed. She bit her lip and took another glass of the wine. The old man looked at his daughter and sighed.
"Jael, it seems your little boyfriend ended his life by doing such a desperate thing. It seems it really wasn't meant for him to cultivate. He just cut off his connection with the 34th Dao and will never cultivate to any meaningful level. Just let him go."
