Days passed in relative peacefulness while I finished the drawings and talked with specialists in the field of blacksmithing to get started. I hated the lack of precision machining in this world, but some of the delicate work the blacksmith I hired showed me gave me more hope. I paid the gold, and we had already purchased the land.
Now I had time, and I knew that Scylar would want me meditating heavily soon. With her parents also helping up with the babies, I had plenty of time to train as well.
I moved down the elevator inside the laboratory after rifting in. I moved to check in on the Maid, and I smiled as I saw the kids going over their notebooks and textbooks that I had provided them. I had plenty of paper, and I knew that I would have to create a paper mill in the world that could adapt to my machines in this world, but for the moment, these kids needed paper.
The thing that made me happiest, though, was the fact that I saw the kids writing in rudimentary English. Their grammar was something that needed working on, but the fundamentals were there. Learning the language would take a little time, and if I could put them on computers, I could save a lot of my dwindling supplies.
I sighed, making the Maid that I couldn't remember the name of right now turn to me. Her face paled for a moment before she composed herself. "How are things going?" I asked as she turned, and the Maid looked over the kids who were still now as I looked over them.
"They are doing well. This is another language, and they are having some difficulties in some areas, but they are doing their best." The Maid said, looking at me. I could see almost a cold sweat as she spoke, and I turned to her with an eyebrow raised.
"Is something the matter?" I asked her.
"Umm, I have two students who seemed to have grasped what you have written and have gotten farther than the rest of the kids. At this time, I am having them help the other kids, but I don't know if you want to leave them like this or have them begin to learn something new?" The Maid finished, and I nodded.
"I will do something about that in a bit. For now, My little test subject," I began changing the subject, "Still Alive?" I asked her bluntly, and I saw the kids dryly swallow.
"Yes, Mistress, although not in good shape, I would say. She has also gone crazy and tries to attack me whenever I try to help her. I believe that she is about to die," The Maid finished, and I nodded. I had let the experiment go on too long with breeding and not doing proper care of the test subject. It happened with experiments that you did not take care of, and that was what happened here.
I frowned, thinking about it, and I sighed deeply, "I will look at her later. For now, how is the food supplies and the farming?" I asked.
"The crops are coming in nicely. The slaves working on it are impressed with how well the irrigation system is working and hope to have the kids help to expand the fields so we can become entirely self-sufficient." The Maid told me.
I tilted back on my heels, thinking about that. Then I shrugged after some time, "After studying for hours, if they wish, then they can do a couple of hours in the fields before getting back to learning. I have plans for the kids in a couple of years and need them able to read and write before getting them onto the computers and learning that as well. I need to begin the foundation of this lab up and running." My last statements were blunt about planning to keep these kids alive.
I saw the children sigh in relief as I said they had years in here, and I did not want to stress the kids out more than needed. I nodded to myself, and I moved from the room, "I will be back later after I start some tests." I told her, and I rifted out of the room back into the elevator. I quickly took it down to the labs I had been using to run tests on my babies while they were still inside me.
I smiled as I entered the labs, and I quickly got to work taking blood tests. I got into a familiar routine, and my smile grew as it felt relaxing. Lately, I have been working outside of my depth with drawings and business work. They were all things that I had to learn to survive initially in my world.
All the great ideas in the world were sold by words through the mouth. Very rarely did someone reach success without someone out there selling it? That was what I needed Scylar to do, hopefully, as I knew that I was temperamental. I also had a lot of knowledge from my previous world in this laboratory. All scientists tried for a broad base of knowledge to work with. You never knew what field might link to your own unless you read something about it here and there. One of my favorite discoveries came from me reading a math work from some mathematician. It had to do with something called the group theory or something, and it inspired me to try something I had never tried before.
That was why I had a flushed library, and so did many of my other employees. Too bad I couldn't keep them in my employ when I changed to this strange world. My thoughts were wandering, but with the stress of those four little monsters, not including Scylars, I was haggard. Even the maids felt sympathy for me, with four of the little ones hounding me.
I shook my head and finished setting up the tests knowing that I was probably still healthy. But this was a designer body that I made, and I had no idea how it would react to childbirth. I wondered so much about this world, and I knew I wanted to test my babies inside here. I couldn't help but wonder what genomes they had and what their DNA looked like. What blood type even?
My mind raced with those thoughts as I stood up, my smile large as I moved back to the elevator. I moved up to the labs, and I knew that I had wasted the woman. If she survived, though, I could use her to remind the others what would happen if I took them for an experiment. Maybe a survivor would tell them they would live the experience? I did not know, and that was interesting.
I shook my head, though. The Maid was right; it was a prolonged experiment, and the woman by now had probably gone crazy from boredom with a room she wasn't sure she could ever leave from. I entered the observation room, and I saw that she was talking to herself inside the room, and I shook my head. The little critters were still inside her breasts, breeding her breasts were leaking milk slowly. I watched, and I saw the little tit poppers on the floor dying as well.
I moved to the computers, and I checked the data and smiled as I realized that the database recorded the entire time. I didn't know whether to frown or not know I would have to go through the data and find what was relevant or not. But now I had the data I needed, and it was time to collect the samples and some eggs for some experiments.
What came next was a clean-up of the fuck up and collection of samples making this corpse into fertilizer. Her life was snuffed out without a care as I moved on through the room, cleaning up before preserving the samples needed and disposing of the unneeded tissues for when I decided to continue experiments later in this lab.
I couldn't allow the waste of such slaves again. I did not have time to do a carefully collected study and this was a waste of resources. My mind raced as I cleaned up on why I wasted these slaves, and I knew what the reason was.
I was still used to an excessive amount of resources. Resources that I do not have at this moment. I had constraints that I needed to alleviate before I could hit my old stride. No, there was too much to do and create in what is now the world I resided in to make this lab run at full capacity. That needed to be done, along with the fact that I needed to have power and increase my mana.
I moved through the lab and finished before I left, no longer caring that I left a dead woman to rot. I needed to check my supplies and decide on what resources were the most necessary moving forward other than manpower.
One thing is for sure. At least I had electricity. I smiled as I moved through the lab to check my supplies as it seems the gods that sent me here either didn't tell me how to access them or never gave me those unlimited supplies.
It didn't matter, though, as I had a whole world to develop in with a messed-up tech base. I could do a lot in it, and there are many industries that I could profit from to get those resources. Now it was time to develop the beginnings to get those resources while simultaneously strengthening myself to defend those resources for my research.
I sighed, knowing who I needed to talk to begin.
