Chapter 14 - Chapter Thirteen

She couldn't bring herself to avert her gaze that remained locked on his. His eyes darkened even further, becoming a bottomless abyss that gnawed at her soul.

Is that even legal?

Her body was betraying her and she knew her subconscious was right. She had to play far far away from this male. He was dangerously alluring with his heated gaze boring a hole through her.

"Breathe little damsel, We can't have you passing out now, can we? So which one will it be?

He left the question hanging for her to choose but for the life of her, she couldn't remember one single thing from a few moments before her heart started dancing away from its God chosen position.

"Huh"

She was an open book for him and he could tease and taunt her like that all night but she was becoming too pale, she had forgotten to breathe so he broke the spell and and steered the conversation to more stable grounds but it seemed even that was going to be difficult for her.

He smiled thinking of the purity . . . the innocence!

She was just simple like that for him, an open book where he just had to flip the pages. You would think you want to dwell on a single page but find the nect one more interesting than the previous one.

"Do I get to know where you learned to hym the song I found you humming to or I get to tag myself to your bathe" It was obvious which one would be an easier choice but he wanted to hear her say it.

"What song?" she looked puzzled.

"Mhhm . . . it seemed I was wrong. So you do want me to tag along then?"

This was becoming bad real fast. One is supposed to hear themselves if they hum a song right? What song was this giant nuthead talking about?

Tagging himself to see her naked? Not happening!

"When was I humming a song" she looked to be in dilemma

"And here I was thinking the next time I blink you would be out the door already"

He smiled a smile that wasn't usual on his face, as if it was feined from the way it stretched his cheeks in a curve. She decided it's rude to pry so she stepped out into the fresh breeze the had somehow turned a bit chilly. She quickly made her way to the lake and chanted a few spells as she rid herself of the dress and the hoodie she was wearing ontop. She shook her head to let her hair cascade in different direction at once. When she was satisfied about the temperature of the water, she pulled the fragmented leaves from the pocket of her hoodie, the leaves she had pulled on their way from the Shadow cliff and let them float in circles while creating a bubbling sensation on the water.

She stepped into the water and kept her hands floating just above her chest to make sure the water doesn't run cold while she was still inside. She closed her eyes briefly and opened them to someone touching her naked self from behind.

What the!

She panicked and lost balance and the hands holding her didn't let go of her even as she sank to the bottom but still, he held her hands as if oblivious to the fact that they were going to drown. She tried to grab at straws and flailed her hands to no avail. She tried opening her mouth to scream to whoever was holding her to let go but her voice was muffled under the water. She desperately tried swinging to free herself but the arms holding her were too strong for her to wiggle out. A bright light flashed at the distance, gainst common sense telling her that it was nearing nightfall. This place seemed bright like a summer morning, lively and vibrant. She saw children of all ages and gender, all seemingly unaware of her presense. They were chasing at water balloons that floated in the air . . . it looked as if they were sheltered, in a big translucent bubble that didn't allow them to see outside it's perimeters. One of them turned around and she was gobsmacked with their uncanny resemblance. She looked exactly like her, just younger. She waved innocently and mouthed words that were lost to her, she wabed back at the little girl. The only difference they had was the color of their irises. Hers had red rims that seemed like a blazing inferno where hers stood in contrast with their untainted ocean blue.

"Come quickly . . . follow me" she said in a whisper as if her presence among the children should be kept a secret

""Where are we going" she questioned the little girl.

"Hurry . . . we don't want you getting caught in the net" she felt like she was seeing her younger self in an alternate universe because this was not where she grew up no how she grew up.

Getting caught in a net?

That didn't sound like a pleasant experience so she took a step towards following the child when she felt something pull her from behind.

Was that the net?

She couldn't tell but she assumed it was since the child said nothing about canivorous animals residing in the water. She dicided to trust the notion of the net instead. She suddenly had goosebumps materialize in her skin and decided the net was definitely not going to be something she might want to explore at all.

"Please, no!" she tried to scream but her voice wouldn't come against her best efforts.

"Hannah . . . come on, you said you wouldn't run away from me"

Was she hallucinating? Did she fantasize about him even in her worst days? How much of his words were actually in sync with his true soul, she couldn't tell.

"Please Hannah at least think about Kayla, come back for her then. I know I've been a total ass . . . okay not totally but you can't run without trying to see the nice part of me . . . I can be nice too you know" he chuckled as if he also needed some time to comprehend and believe himself.

He pressed both his palms on her chest and tried not to press too hard, incase he got carried away and ended up breaking her breastbone.

"I know you're better than me little damsel but you know I won't know what to do with Kayla or what to say. She might even think I ate you"

He wasn't used to this and new things were not really his favourite subject, especially drowned naked females but he remembered another method to resuscitate an unconscious person through mouth to mouth so he got to it.

"I never thought the first time I'd have to lay my lips to yours would be to resuscitate you like this"

At least she was responding and her pulse was still beating although faintly.

She coughed and gagged when she came to and tried to look at Salem through her tiery blurred eyes and register her surroundings.

"You said you wouldn't run from me" was the first thing he thought of when she opened her eyes
