They had been walking for long in silence, Hannah refusing to fall prey to the man's sharp tongue and the hulking male enjoying the change of atmosphere with the little female.
She was being stubborn and she knew it but so did he.
Hannah had an inkling of what the male might be but she couldn't allow herself to come across as petty but now there was an issue of the panic wrecking her nerves. Will she find Kayla in time to return to the same spot atop the cliff to find their waiting parents. Her mind raced with no good possibilities and she knew it was tge kind of distraction she couldn't afford to consider at the moment.
She focused on the journey ahead before the hulking male's hand came right at her chest, halting her from taking any step further
"We are not alone anymore" he said in a hushed voice that was meant only for her to hear and she marveled at his sharp senses. She has always knew to rely on her senses to attain accuracy of her surroundings but this particular mean male surpassed her senses. She let all emotions float in order to concentrate.
What is a witch without concentration!
She scooted low from her waist down to be able to access the earth more easily. She placed her fingers on the soil and waited for the farmiliar tingling and vibration as response from mother nature, she closed her eyes to savour the feeling and exhaled loudly.
"I can sense eight people from different directions . . . hooded and extremely dangerous. I think-"
He was gone!
He freaking left her before even forming a proper plan but well that was just part of the issue, now forming a larger potion of the problem was the fact that she was left alone, defenseless against formidable foes without a clue of where that nasty male of a witch or whoever he is went.
He just vanished on her like a phantom!
She sensed something coming from her side and ducked just in time for an arrow to forcefully impale itself in the tree just a feet or two from her she had been standing.
Just great!
She swished her hands around in an attempt to create a barrier of protection but someone had already snuck up on her in her flight or fight moment, someone who didn't hesitate to smack the sides of her head throwing her to the dirt. The face became hazy and blurry but her ears still couldn't miss the unmistakable mean male's cocky voice
"You should not have done that" which sounded dangerous and absolute.
"Who are you" a hoarse voice exuding evil came out of the hooded figure's mouth, sending chills down Hannah's spine who couldn't help but curl up in a ball in the ground with a headache that threatened to split her head in two halves.
"I am someone you shouldn't have picked a fight with"
"I didn't come here for you, I came for the female"
"The female is with me and I am here here in good faith. There needn't be a war over this"
"I do not sense a bond between you two so I can tell she is not your bonded dated half. Why would you want to propose war over such a trivial matter. Give me the female and walk away then I will turn a blind eye to this incidence"
The hulky male grinned as if finding humor in the words of the hooded male who seemed confident in the outcome of events here.
"I am proposing that you instead hand me the youngling you might have mistaken for a lamb in the shadow valley and allow me to turn a blind eye to you having taken her in the first place"
Now this was spiralling out of control too fast and Hannah knew time was of essence if she she was going to find Kayla, walk the distance back and still find her mama and papa still waiting for them. Her mind in the right place she tried to sit up only to feel a ringing in her ear which shot her back down.
"Please . . . we won't hurt anyone. We just want my sibling and then you will never have to see us again" she tried to vargain with the hooded male
"Don't go making promises that you are not at obligation to keep" the hulky man replied to her vargain with distaste.
Is he by any chance scolding her or was it that his ego is a short coming to his common sense?
The hooded male let out a hum as if the female's presence was a sudden occurance which he just recently became aware of when she spoke but he immediately got annoyed by the hulky male's response to the female's plea. Unfortunately for the naive female, the hooded figure had no soul that resonated with mercy or anything in relation to the word but she was with someone who was well acquainted with how they operate around the village.
"Send my regards to The Oracle" he didn't give the hooded male enough time to conprehend the phrase uttered before he beheaded him with a sword Hannah had failed to notice before, sheathed safely on the rope that went around the mean male's waist. It hung loosely and drifted in and out of view with his every step. His steps stealthy and silent like a great warrior.
She envied his elegance and grace just without the personality traits.
"Lets keep walking, up ahead. We have been detected so stay close and don't let yourself get distracted. You meet anyone, try not to stare and you might come out of this in one piece" he said to her, his eyes looking everywhere at once. He was scanning the vicinity. She followed suite.
"Okay" she said simply which was enough to let him know he's getting under her skin just fine, like he always have been doing.
'Smirk'
They moved step by step, Hannah following the nameless male deep into the forest while keeping her eyes and ears trained on every movement other than theirs . . . even voices, hoping that the creatures that took her sibling will not be expecting prey to walk into a set trap knowing the danger but here she was.
He stopped her again and this time they had white fog covering their feet up to their legs and it spread to as far as her eye could see.
"They know we're here" she reiterated to him, he reploed with a nod before crouching low and drawing his long shiny sword.
He made a signal to point her in a direction opposite to their standing position amd she frowned but decided this was no time to question the male which will eventually turn up futile. She decided to trust her gut and follow the direction of his eyes and knocked her head on a tree that wasn't there when she first looked.
'Ouch'
She flicked her hands and smiled in profound respect for whoever guards this village. Now they are stuck in a mirror freaking box! She turned around just in time to find the remnants of a reflection not too different from her own.
So the devil could be caught offguard as well!
