Looking around the room, Damien soon figured out that there must have been somebody else living in this shack, another cot was present right next to the one he had awoken from. They must have been the one that maintained candlelight or took care of his food and bedding.
From the state of his earlier body, it was hard to imagine how he could have done this himself.
This person must have cared deeply for him since they took care of him on his death bed, or maybe not after all the old owner of this body had kicked the bucket today, and they hadn't been here even though they must have known he wouldn't last much longer.
Not that it mattered if they cared or not, he wasn't about to do something stupid like take care of this body's last wishes or resolve their grudges.
I'm not a Good Samaritan I don't have time to take care of their problem. After all, I'm stuck in another body, in what could probably be another world if I know anything about light novels.
Therefore the first thing I should be doing is finding out if there are any sort of powers here, who had them ? and if I could obtain them.
Also, to find out about whoever knew about Damian's old personality and then eliminate them before they could see the changes that had happened to him.
After all, if they found out that Damien made such a recovery in a single day, there would be hell to pay.
With that figured out, I walk towards the door that I assume is the entrance to the shack, hoping to take a peek outside.
Similar tattered shacks enter my vision, each lined up around a narrow muddy road, occupied with people walking.
Asians, it looked like they had a certain Mongolian appearance, but it could just be their tanned skin, they were dressed in furs, and a few of them were armed with bows and clubs.
**** it looks like it was the middle of the day, there's no way I could sneak out of this shack without being noticed.
Assuming that the village was a close-knit community like most villages were, then most people around would know that he had been ill, and merely seeing him walk out cured, carrying an extra 20 pounds of weight is a big no-no.
Well, if I can't get out now, I have to wait for somebody to come in, but first.
System, how do I gain levels?
Ding: The Host gains experience by killing creatures until the experience quota is filled.
Perfect precisely what I needed after all if that's all it took, killing an average human was no challenge at all, gain their trust, and stab them in the back, easy peasy.
That would be my preferred method until I was happy with my vitality.
I walked towards one of the shack walls, cocked my arm back and punched with all my strength, a stinging sensation ran through my knuckles and reverberated through my shoulder, as my flesh made contact against the wood.
But that did not stop me as I did it again and again and again THUD THUD THUD Until I could no longer feel my hand.
My knuckles were bloody, and although no bone was broken it was close enough.
I look at my stats, it appears I lost 0.3 health doing this, it seems like nonlethal damage is probably very unlikely to kill me at least it looks more realistic than dying from a thousand paper cuts.
I think it would take around a week for an average human to heal this, and they would be left with a scar forever.
According to my health regeneration, it would take me 9 days to heal my fist, acceptable.
I wondered if my body works the same as my old one; after all, when bodybuilding or doing any exercise, micro-tears are created in the muscle and strain in the bones and ligaments that are then healed and reinforced making them bigger and more durable.
Hopefully, as my health regen increases, I would find myself growing stronger faster, able to train harder, and heal more quickly.
Now that would be the dream, and I could use this to increase my strength a rate hitherto undreamt of, hahaha exponential growth.
Might as well start now since I have nothing better to do.
I dropped to the floor and started doing pushups, this body being much weaker than my old one could only manage 12 before it reached its limit.
I rested for a few moments, and then tried again, eight this time, rest followed by 6, then 4 until I could only manage a single push up.
I continued doing reps of one until I noticed that I lost another 0.1 health. HA, so this must be the result of micro-tears in the muscle causing damage, though it seems weird that I would lose health because of this, there was nothing that I could do about it.
I kept doing pushups every 30 seconds, pushing my body, until even doing a single pushup was too strenuous a task.
I rested on my knees and started doing knee push up, but I was only able to do one at a time.
Damn, this body was even weaker than I had been in my previous life when I was ten years old.
I looked at my health again. I lost another 0.3 health putting me at 9.3 in total, The equivalent of 21 days until full recovery.
This would mean that my current health regeneration is complete dog shit compared to what I had in my previous life.
Hell, it was probably dogshit compared to what every other human had, but it could increase. I kept doing pushups until my health reached nine; it then seemed like it would go down no further.
My arms and chest were throbbing, filled with blood as I laid on my back, huffing and puffing like I just ran a marathon.
I assumed this meant I reached the Max amount of damage I could do through working out, that was quantifiable into health; if there was any further damage done after this, it would probably be a muscle tear or some other kind of injury, I guess that was that for today. I stand up, heading for the dusty cot when all of a sudden, the front door opens.
