"Ready?'' I ask him.
He looks up from the suitcase in his grip with a wide smile on his face. I watch him pack all his belongings and the joy I feel is overwhelming. So, it took a while to come to this decision but I am glad that he did. Jabi agreeing to move out of the community and back to my place is everything to me.
I didn't want to pressure him but I also didn't want to be here.
I don't feel like this is home and just the thought that I was going to take him from his home, made me want to settle here but now that I know he doesn't want to stay here anymore, is all that I need.
"Yes, I am, this is exciting,'' he exclaims.
So, he doesn't know about the surprise I have. He knows nothing about the trip I have planned with him. I wanted it to be a surprise because I wanted to see how he handles surprises. Jabi hasn't had the most exciting life but with me—now, he is going to have it all.
