And Now it Begins

When it started, we had no clue what was going on. It seemed as if gravity were turned off. Trees uprooted, cars floating through the air, animals flying all around, and people clinging to whatever wouldn't float. Then, the gravity was turned way up. Everything came slamming down. Many people were crushed by things that were falling back to earth. Even more died on impact when they couldn't stay close to the ground. Some were even killed by the change in gravity. The gravity still hasn't changed, but over the years we have become accustomed to it. Our bodies are shorter, our bones more dense, almost like mythical dwarves. "The Event," as it's called by scientists, happened 26 years ago. I was four. I can still remember when the gravity came back on. I had been inside with my mom, we were playing in the living room, and we started floating. When it came back on, I landed hard and broke my arm. My mom is still about the same height. My dad died in The Event. I am nowhere near my parents size. Nor are any others who were born a few years before, or any time after, The Event. Those of us mostly effected by The Event are the first generation. Our bodies were bred for a certain level of gravity. This led us to slowly adapt. Those born from our generation were lucky, their bone density is like ours, but they regained their height after being formed in this level of gravity. We still don't know exactly what happened, although there are theories.
