Chereads / Zion Rippers / Chapter 7 - Plan of attack

Chapter 7 - Plan of attack

Numerous guards stationed around the area all endowed with machine guns and other weaponry. The lair led several ways with people passing around to do their bidding. Takeru knew the risk of staying around for too long and decided to move.

"Hey Reginald, we better go back, we don't wanna cause trouble now" – Takeru

"Finally, it's time you said something wise" – Reginald, relieved that Takeru had some senses into him after all

"Let's just get out of here, quick" – Takeru, pressing Reginald to leave the area

The two proceeded down the road back with little inconvenience and managed to get back to Takeru's house safe and sound. Takeru immediately goes into a stance of deep thought and planning. Reginald stares at him with a puzzled face, questioning his attitude.

"Hmmm, how are we going to handle this…." – Takeru

"You aren't planning to get rid of those guys, are you? That's just plain insanity!" – Reginald, with a shocked tone

"I barely made it out alive last time. If you wanna do something, do it on your own and get killed, not my problem." - Reginald

"You're not gonna let me die, are you? I did you a favour, didn't I?" – Takeru, pouting

"I'd rather not, to be honest, your place is surrounded by people trying to kill me" – Reginald

"Ohh please Regi, you said you would repay me that favor" – Taker

Reginald takes a long look at the pouting Takeru, scrutinising his appearance, something he had not done properly before. He notices a different facet of the boy, which he had not noticed previously.

(Reginald to himself) "Damn… I did not realise how much this guy looks like a girl. He has the hair, the cute feminine allure and even a different smell than other men…"

"Arghh fine, but we're not going in there blind" – Reginald

"Of course not, I'm not insane y'know" – Takeru

*Reginald face palms*

Meanwhile, at Miyuki's, her mom was busy cleaning the house while she was in her room spending time binge watching a short anime. She seems deeply invested into the story and shows great emotion for the characters.

"Oh noooo... I can't believe he died! I'm not even halfway there, what am I watching right now?" – Miyuki

*Ringing*

"Huh, is that my phone?" – Miyuki

Miyuki opens up her screen and sees a friend of hers appear on it. She picks it up, questioning why she was calling her.

"Hi Haru" – Miyuki

"Hiii. Uhm, are you free to talk right now?" – Haru

"Yea sure" – Miyuki

"Can we hangout today? We haven't done something like that in quite a long time and I thought this would be a good time, you know?" – Haru

Miyuki takes a long look at the T.V screen before reluctantly accepting her best friend's proposal.

"Alright. Where do you wanna go?" – Miyuki

"Hmmm maybe we could hang around town square? It's going to be open for the next few hours" – Haru

*Miyuki sighs*

"Okay, I'll meet you there" – Miyuki

"Later, flatty" – Haru, with smugness

"WHAT THE HELL DID Y- "– Miyuki

*Haru hangs up*

"Ahhh that little- ugh" – Miyuki

Miyuki turns off her T.V screen and gets ready to go out. Some time later, she heads out for town square. Since the weather was balmy, she thought it would be a good idea to bike the way there. While on the road, she notices a peculiar figure. It was the same Myrmidon from yesterday but she quickly loses focus on him and cycles away. After a good 30 minutes, Miyuki reaches her destination seeing Haru waving at her from afar.

In the northern side of Hitotake, Ichino was driving towards the agency's main office when he caught sight of a familiar boy from the Gopher incident. He parks alongside the road and calls the boy over.

"AYY, you're that Hayano boy, right? – Ichino

"Ah Mr. Detective, nice to see you again. Thanks again for letting me off last time" – Takeru

"No problem kid, but remember what I said, don't mess around with cops too much" – Ichino

"Well, anyways what are you doing out here?" – Ichino

"Oh pfft nothing much, just running some errands. We ran out of groceries for dinner tonight" – Takeru

"Heh sure... Alright then little boy, I have to get going, be safe and don't break the law." – Ichino

"Guess you guys have to work even on Sundays" – Takeru

"Tough work kid" – Ichino

The two part ways

(Takeru to himself) "I can't get the agency involved, at least not right now"

"Hey, I think I got something" – Takeru

"Spill" – Reginald

"Wait let me get a map first" – Takeru

Takeru, in a serious mood, brings out a holographic map from his phone and quickly reflects on it. He then turns over to Reginald to propose his plan

"Hmmm okay, so you know how it curves over right here. If we bait the guards over, we can get rid of them quietly" – Takeru

"What if there are no guards?" – Reginald

"Well that would be improbable, I'm pretty sure all the entrances are guarded by at least one guard" – Takeru

"But still, IF there are no guards, we go with a more revealing and bold approach, the plan B. We'll blow something up and you'll lead the pursuers to this remote place right here on the map. I'll set up a few trip wires to cause another explosion which will hopefully knock them. With most of them gone we could go back and trim the remainders" – Takeru

"However, if we followed the sneakier approach we will have to disguise ourselves as guards and take them down with gas." – Takeru

"Actually It'll be too hard for me to disguise myself as a guard. I mean have you seen my tail! I'll just stick back and act as getaway point in case anything goes wrong" – Reginald

"I get your point. Okay, moving on to equipment" – Takeru

"I guess that's on me. I know a guy who lives south of here, he can get anything you need but you'll have to get em. If I take one step outside... I'm a dead man."

"Ughh okay fine. So we need 3 flashlights, in case we lose one, and I already have plenty, 2 wireless ear pieces, we can't use of personal ones due to risks of being tracked, masks, 5 explosives, 5 tripwires, 10 cans of knockout gas and guns, I'm pretty sure we're not going to be able to afford this so we'll have to take them from the enemy" – Takeru

"You really sound like you've done this kinda thing before" – Reginald

Takeru did not give an answer to that question and hurriedly moved on to another topic. Reginald avoided pushing deeper into his affairs, looking away for a moment.

"Okay, so do you think I can get the equipment today?" – Takeru

"Hmmm I'll have to contact him first. You can move right away if he approves" – Reginald

"Alright, get on it" – Takeru

Reginald slides open his holographic screen from his smart device on his wrist and phones his contact. After a few seconds of waiting, someone picks up.

"Hey, Ueki can you hear me?" – Reginald

"Loud and clear Reg. What do you need?" – Ueki

"Look man, you selling the goods today?" – Reginald

"Yea, I sure am" – Ueki

"Okay nice, I'm going to send someone to pick up some stuff. It's a human kid with flashy hair. So, we need..." – Reginald

Reginald proceeds to give information about the required equipment.

"Roger that Reg. What's all this about anyways? If I may ask" – Ueki

"Oh nothing special, just another hit" – Reginald

"So soon after the last... You're being pretty daring Reg be careful not to get caught. You might not make it alive this time" - Ueki

"Hey no need to worry man, I'll get by alright, talk to you later." – Reginald

"See ya man, be safe." - Ueki

Reginald cuts contact with Ueki and re-joins Takeru, who was walking around in circles in the living room.

"We're clear to go, I already told him you're on your way, so there's nothing to be concerned like their secret pass-codes and stuff" – Reginald

"Great, thanks Regi" – Takeru

Takeru quickly goes into his room to get ready to go out. Reginald puts on a bewildered face.

(Reginald to himself) "Since when did he start calling me that anyways?"

Reginald sighs, thirsty for a drink.

After a few moments, Takeru comes out in outdoor clothes, ready to move out. He gives a word out to Reginald.

"Watch the house for me while I'm gone, okay?" – Takeru

"Leave it to me" – Reginald

(Reginald to himself) "Hmmm I wonder what's happened to that game…"
