The front side of Madeline's legs were already wet with water because of the wavering water that was produced by the hand movements of Calhoun in the bath. The water spilt out that was filled until the brim of the bath. She saw him wait for her to move. She finally uncrossed her legs to place her legs in the water that was quick to soak.
Calhoun was pleased and satisfied with Madeline's compliance. He didn't need her words to know that she was slowly accepting him. Her actions spoke louder than anything and Calhoun didn't miss any of it.
