"Ok class," the teacher said to the class, "today we will be talking about Secondary Modifications (SM's). Now before we get started, is anyone confused about what we talked about last week? No one? Good." The teacher continued talking about SM's and how they were a sign of god until he got to cole. "Cole, what is the difference between someone with an SM and someone without?"
"A person without an SM is trash on the floor compared to someone with one."
"Good that you know your place in the world, trash," laughed the teacher.
To everyone, Cole was like a cockroach, wouldn't stay dead even if you tried to put it down. Cole was bullied by everyone for one simple reason. He didn't have an SM. You see, in this world, 95% of the population has an SM. anyone without an SM is bullied till they eventually offed themselves, Cole was no different.
As the periods passed by, it was 3:05 PM. 'Time to go home,' thought Cole, and as Cole was walking out, he saw something in a dark ally and decided to check it out.
He'd expect anything from and bully beating up a kid without an SM to a group just hanging out, but what he didn't expect to see was a girl fighting with what looked to be a wolf-man hybrid. The girl was hitting the thing with weapons made of light.
The girl had silver hair with gold highlights. She had a face as beautiful as an angel, and blue eyes. she had decent-sized breasts and was wearing body tight white cloths. She had a 6 pack, and her arms weren't buff but lean. They still held a lot of power in her punches, just didn't look too muscular.
The wolf-man had an eight pack with no hair on his pecs to his stomach. He had buff arms and legs, and his hands and feet had claws instead of nails. His head was that of a wolf with white eyes. His fur the color platinum.
The girl would make a weapon swing it at what looked like a demon from hell and let go creating a new one. The wolf-man would either dodge or block with only getting minor scratches. Cole kept getting blown back, little by little, with how much air preacher the two monsters were creating with there punches.
The wolf-man caught sight of Cole, but the girl was still oblivious to his presence. The demon thought up a maniacal plan to capture Cole, then eat the girl.
he began to charge at her full speed. Then in mid-run, he changed direction for Cole. Sadly, the girl didn't reach Cole in time, and the demon started to squeeze him till he was blue in the face.
"You will meet my demands, or I kill this child," said the demon.
The girl responded, "anything, just don't hurt the innocents!"
"Then serenader."
The girl racked her brain to think up a plan to save the boy and live. "Alright, I'll comply with your demands."
She walked up to the monster. then, with the monster's free hand, it grabbed her. it opened it's mouth and, with his sharp teeth, began to chomp down on her shoos.
When Cole saw this, he was filled with negative emotions. He didn't want another good person, like his mother or friends he used to have, get hurt because of him. Cole started to scream pushing on the wolf-mans arms as hard as he could. It wasn't working, until he got a burst of strength that made the wolf-man fly back into a wall, leaving him and the girl behind.
Then he heard a ping, like in a video game when you get a notification.
Cole didn't have a clue at what was going on. He had somehow pushed a super strength wolf-man off of him. the only thing that would come out of his mouth was one question. "What are you?" Cole asked, wondering if he had gone crazy.
"I've never had an SM, and if you were an SM then you wouldn't be able to talk, no SM can talk."
"No one has touched my memory."
"I don't want anyone, or thing, poking around in my memory, thank you."
Cole, finally noticed time had stopped, got anxious. A girl was trying to save his life, but he just sat around talking to a voice in his head! What kind of man, no human, does that. That wasn't his ideology. he wouldn't just sit around while another person got hurt to protect him. Cole balled his fists. his nails pierced his skin, drawing blood. "How do I save her?"
"Alright, let's start,"
"As in, the greek name that signifies man's protecter?"
"What do you mean by "we've"?"
"Mhm. Anyways, you mean game status, right?"

When Alec finished the status window, another system notification popped up.
I need something that'll help in the long run of things, Necromancy sounds cool and all, but it can only really summon the dead to do my bidding, and who says that I'll be able to summon demons with basic Necromancy?
Now on to Earth Swallow, it sounds lame, but if it does what it says then it's a great skill, just not for a beginner.
Last but not least, Basic Fire Controle. Yes, it's just the basics of fire control, but if what the system is telling me is true; then, I can create skills. For someone who is a level one with no skills, it is the best option.
"I choose Basic Fire Controle,"
as soon as the character customization was finished, Alec was thrown back into the movement of time.
. . .
When Alec returned to flowing time, he was greeted with a fist slamming into his gut, sending him sliding five feet back.
The wolf-man spoke, "I, Achak, am part of the almighty Moon Shine Pack. We have never lost any battles, so what makes you think you will ever beat me?"
Alec stood back up with all the strength he could muster, but it was to slow. he kept getting hit, but he wouldn't stay down. He wouldn't let Achak beet him. he couldn't. He had to protect the girl.
He was lying on the ground, not able to get up. then he spoke with everything he could muster, "I... will not let you... hurt her. She was... nice enough t-to come and t-try to protect me, an SM less looser, so I-I will not let you lay a hand on her while I'm still breathing. I will protect her till my last breath. FOR, IF I don't MY NAMES NOT ALEC."
With that, Alec stood up with trembling legs. "RUN!" Was all Alec had to tell to get his point across.
I just hope she gets back in time, or this might kill me
The young woman saw the light illuminate his back covered in blood. It dripping down his arms. She couldn't just leave him, but she had to get him help. She ran promising to come back.
Alec stood facing his toughest tormentor yet, Achak. when the girl left, that's when the fighting truly began. They ran at each other going for a punch. Achak, having longer arms and being faster, got there first landing a punch on Alec.
As they kept throwing punch after punch, Alec could smell the garbage-filled ally. he could taste the metallic tast of blood.
he could hear nothing but his heart beating. he kept fighting, even when his body felt like giving up. it was like his body was on autopilot.
He was there, but wasn't there at the same time. His mind was completely blank. Out of nowhere, achack stoped. Alec took this blessing to stall for time.
"Why do you do it? why hurt all these inecent people?"
"Do you have any idea what these "inecent" people have done? These people have poached my people. They have killed all of my clan, untill only I remane." Achak then looked Alec in the eyes, giving off pure hatred.
"I will never forgive what humanity has done to the werewolf clans," Achak sneered, "humanity has harmed us too many times to forgive. they have pillaged our villages, killed the males, and sold the women and children into slavery. I am the last of my clan, and I will destroy humanity for there sins against us!"
"You seek to become the same thing you swore to eliminate? If you do this, you become no better than any of us," Alec fought, "you become the very thing you despise. You become a monster! The only thing hatred leads to is more hatred, and do you think the people you lost would want that of you? Is that how you honor your loved ones?"
"I don't care what a human thinks," the werewolf yelled, running at Alec throwing a punch.
Alec dogged and used his new skill. Alec set the Achak's hand on fire. with that, Achak started to scream. Then, the fire intensified until it engulfed the werewolf's arm. Alec, not wanting to kill anyone, stopped the fire.
status, Alec thought, only wanting the conditions to show

"I don't want to fight" Alec said. "I don't want to hurt you, but if you don't stop... I'll be forced to kill you. The path your going down will only lead to distruction, and I can't let that happen."
"You know nothing!" The wolf man yelled.
"Yes I do! I know how it feels to get bullied, beat up, and put down. I may not have gone through what you've gone through, but I have lost people, for what? Just because I'm different? So, yes, I do know how crul humanity is. I do know what loss feels like. And I do know what it's like to want to get revenge. But I don't follow the path your following!"
Achack sneered at Alec for trying to compare their situation.
"I don't go around wining and trying to be better than anyone. I get up and put my big boy pants on." Alec paused. "Many you should try it some time.
Achak was still pissed at Alec. Look at this pethetic human. He just insulted me and the wolf race as a whole.
Alec put on a big, bright smile, like they didn't just fight."Now, will you continue on your path of distruction, or will you put your big boy pants on?"
Achack just stared at Alec for a moment. Then, he burst out laughing. "Are you a idiot, or just suicidal?"
Alec's face went pale, and his smile fell. I'm going to die now, aren't I?
Achack's laughing grew even more. "You know, I'm starting to like you, kid. you're growing on me."
Alec didn't know how to feel about that. Was the wolf man mocking him, or was he being genuine?
Achak was a buff man, with hair that looked like his wolf self. on his face, he had a beard with a long jagged scar coming from his forehead, down to his eye, then further down to his cheek, on the other side of his face. Achak had a white shirt with dark blue jeans. and on his feet, he wore a pair of sneakers.
"I do not wish to fight any longer human. I would like for your name," Achak asked.
Alec was still a little suspicious. "My name is Alec." He answered with skepticism.
"Good, I think you and I will make great friends, from this day forwards."
As soon as their conversation ended, the adrenaline pumping through Alec stoped. Then, he fainted, right where he was standing.
"Let's get you to a hospital, my little buddy."
. . .
When Alec woke up, he looked around to see a hospital room. How'd I get here? He then looked to his right to Achak looking right back at him, with a smile.
"I can only wonder what your thinking," Achak spoke softly, "I brought you here, my new friend, because you passed out in that ally way. anyways, why don't we get checked out?"
Alec, still zoned out, answered with a quick "OK" and walked with Achak, to get singed out.
When they exited the hospital, Achak spoke, "I don't really have anywhere else to go. I was just going to steal a place until I met you, that is."
"Well, you could come live with me. I mean both my parents passed away when I was little, so I have extra space in my house."
"YOU MEAN IT?!" When he got a nod, Achak kept yelling "thank you".
