We gathered at the entrance of the large room and made sure everyone was ok. Then we all looked around for anything that might be of use. "I only found the black crystal on the dead necromancer." Alzi spoke in a dissatisfied tone. "It's alright. I dont suspect these people to have much of anything valuable." Cassa collected a few iron daggers thinking she could sell them later on and stuffed them into Alzis' pack. "Now what?" Gro looked at us in confusion. "We can head back to to the town. Should we help rebuild or continue north?"
"We should go north to Illianas' temple. My people will help the town rebuild." Gro spoke up after a few moments of thought and we all agreed. We searched the huge room for a little while longer then finally left. We didnt find much of anything beside more bones and decaying carcasses. I figure Ogres' dont hold much value in things.
We all took a deep breath when we finally exited the cave and breathed out a sigh of relief. "I wonder what happened to the little boy." I casually asked as we walked towards the town. "Where Alzi?" Cassa broke our silence as she looked for the Dragonkin. "Did he come out tha' cave with us?" Gedeon asked and we nodded.
"Master! I found a stalker!" Alzi came running up to us with, what looked like, a black robe over his shoulder, under the edge of his hat. The rug had 'feet' ? Alzi dropped the bundle to the ground and it was the little boy. "Ouch! Why are you so mean to me?" The boy yelled at Alzi after he got up form the ground rubbing his backside. "I wasnt the one who was stalking in the shadows." Alzi leaned down just a little to look the blonde headed boy in the eyes.
"Ay! Lad! What be your name?" Gedeon's voice boomed out beside the boy and she instinctively shrunk down in fear. "R-R-Rolf, S-S-Sir." He stammered at the sight of this huge, black skinned, giant of a man. Cassa ran up to him and sniffed him all over as he shrunk back from her and covered his head with his too-large sleeves, "Smells like dead body. We keep him?"
Alru waved at Cassa and Gedeon to move away and she leaned down to pick up the little boy, "How old are you Rolf?" She warmly smiled at him as she held him in her arms. "10 years, Ma'am" He looked confused at her actions and she just hugged him tighter. "Alru please. Not anotha' charity case." Gedeon pleaded with her and she ignored him, turned towards the outer edge of the farm plots and started walking.
Gedeon threw his hands up in exasperation and followed after her. We all looked so confused at the odd couple, "Oi, Quickshot. We cant 'ave 'em with us if they keep tha' boy." "I agree, Fenta. He will only be a burden to us. Gro and Cassa nodded but Alzi defended there actions, "Master. He is more advanced then you in his necromancy magic. He might be able to help you. It was Illiana who encouraged knowledge of all magics." I couldn't argue with him. From the visions of my mother and the information in her diary, I knew that to be true. But how could a boy of only 10 years be able to teach me?
Well whatever. We will just cross that bridge when we get there. We all made it back to the town and rested after that ordeal. Food and drink and an early night for me and Cassa. Gro and Fenta stayed up a little longer telling Brinda and the mayor of his people that should come to help. As for Alru, Gedeon and Rolf, they took the upstairs room now because it had two beds. I think she will keep him and try to raise him as her own seeing as how he doesn't have any parents. Rolf was taken as a baby at the order or Lord Vexx. He wanted small children to 'brainwash' into bolstering the Necro-Army he was trying to create.
Rolf told us all about his plan and how Vexx is going to attack the Temple of the Araqien Order. I will not let that happen. I must get there as soon as possible and lead these people, by force if needed because Alzi said that last he heard, the Order was in chaos. "Master. I have an idea for a weapon that will focus your magics." I looked at Alzi as he spoke, pulling me from my thoughts, "What would that be?" I asked with general curiosity.
"I will make you a Battle Staff. It will have space enough for two crystals and they will be interchangeable as needed." Alzi gleamed a big smile at me, being proud of his idea. I nodded to him, "I cant wait to see it."
