We made the trip at a quick pace, taking only just over four days. Sleeping at night for a few hours at a time seemed to enhance our exhaustion more so then relieve it but we still made it to the edge of the fields where the farm plots outlined the town. We saw this monstrous creature walking around one of the farm plots. Almost as round as it was tall and near naked, save for a loin cloth and a massive tree trunk it swung as a club.
When it turned towards a sound from the distance we saw it has 'Two Heads!' One head had two eyes while the other only had one. "Ogre!" Gro yelled and pulled his sword and i readied an arrow. Fenta stepped in front of Gro, hammer at the ready and Cassa crouched at my side as Alzi took off his cloak and hat and dropped to all fours on the ground. We were as ready as we could be for a fight.
"I have an idea. Be ready when it advances" Everyone nodded as the hand that held the bow started glowing red. After a few seconds the arrow started to emit a stream of smoke then a small flame appeared on the shaft right behind the arrowhead. I let the arrow fly and when it struck the eye of the cycloptic head it exploded with a loud blast.
The whole right side of the monster went limp and it dropped to its left knee. I didnt know much about Ogres because the book i absorbed didnt have much written in it on them. "Now!" I yelled and the others took off across the fields. I noticed Fenta was a little slower in her movements but damn she could swing.
Fenta completely crushed the left foot of the massive creature and Gro swung sideways with his sword and severed the things left hand. Cassa and Alzi jumped on its remaining head and cut and clawed every bit of intact flesh. The Ogre fell over and took a few more deep breaths before it finally stopped. "Surprise works best on them!" Gro yelled out. Alzi hit my arm with a huge smile, "Good work, Master. Nice combination of spell and weapon." I nodded to him.
We heard a scream from the main part of the town and when we looked in the direction we saw a small empty cart flying towards us. "Lets go!" I yelled as i readied another arrow then we ran towards the main road into town. We arrived in time to see a couple new adventures battling another Ogre. One was in full plate steel armor and wielded a great sword and the other was in all leathers and had thin bladed single hand sword.
I watched as they had the monster distracted. I took aim with my arrow and made it burn like the last time. "I cant do this to often." I said to the others as it took a lot of my energy for the explosion plus my arrows couldnt be recovered. I let the arrow fly and hit the Ogre in the shoulder as it moved. The arrow exploded and completely severed the the left arm. The Ogre fell over from the blast and i faltered in my stance but Cassa was right beside me to hold me upright. Gro and Fenta took advantage of the creatures momentary confusion and attacked. Gro took hacked of its heads off and Fenta buried the blunt point of her hammer into the side of the other head.
When the two adventurers saw Gro standing there they took defensive stance towards him. I ran up to them as best i could with Cassa helping me, "Ho there! He is a friend!" They looked at each other then back to Gro and the Orc lowered his sword. The other two wearily lowered there weapons as well. Another scream came from the mayors house and we all looked to see another Ogre beating on one of the sides of the two level house.
This one had weird runes painted on its body and head. Along with the loincloth, this one had leather strips wrapped around its arms and legs. It carried a massive staff made a large oak trunk and had crystals made into the top. Red, Blue and Black were all glowing at the same time. "Ogre Mage! Blast it boy! Before it casts a spell!" The plated warrior yelled in a gruff tone at me but cursed when he saw the state i was in. "Damned mageling. Hes used up!" The other one in leather had a softer voice and a little higher pitch. I thought I saw a little gold hair from under her hood so i figured she was a female.
"Not used up yet." I dug though Alzis' pack and got my blue crystal and his water skin. Gro saw this and tossed his water skin over to me as well. I sat down on the ground and held the blue crystal in both hands over the two water skins. The Ogre Mage was busy destroying the house and didnt notice us which gave me enough time. "Surround him for protection!" Gro shouted and he and Fenta stood in front of me with Alzi and Cassa beside me. They all took a ready stance as the crystal started glowing in my hands.
The other adventerers stood there and watched as the skins began to move and pulse. The one in leather tossed her water skin down with the other two. I was greaful because it was slightly larger and was mostly full. "Need more water." I softly spoke and they took off for the inn. The Ogre Mage noticed them running and turned to see me and my group. Both heads yelled at us then it started to charge. "Keep it busy!" Fenta yelled as they ran to meet the creature. She swung her hammer against its foot and managed to smash a few toes and Gro jabbed his sword into the monsters calf.
It dropped to one knee them shoved its staff towards me when it saw what i was doing. The end of the staff started glowing a bright red then a flame shot out in my direction. Fenta jumped and brought her hammer down against the monsters hand and crushed a few fingers against the staff. This caused the Ogre Mage to scream in pain and it dropped the staff. This stopped the spell before to much of the flames came out they dispersed in mid air. Once the staff hit the ground Fenta slammed it with her hammer and shattered the crystals with a resounding blast that flung her backwards into the side of a near by building.
Gro dropped to one knee and shielded himself with his sword and was pushed back on his foot and knee. The blast knocked the Ogre Mage backwards and it roared in anger. It stood up and looked directly at me and slowly stepped in my direction. Cassa and Alzi jumped on the creature and started clawing and slashing at its body as they both climbed up to its heads. The Ogre tried for all its worth to grab at them and got Alzi by the tail and threw him to the ground, causing his body to bounce then went limp.
While Cassa was slashing at one of the heads the other saw the little Dragonkin unconscious and lifted it massive foot to stomp him flat. Gro came in at the last moment, planted his feet and shoved for all he was worth, sword pointed upright, into the soft fleshy middle of the Ogres' foot. Another roar of pain from the beastly creature and it fell backwards to the ground.
The others came back with Brinda and the cook from the inn carrying pitchers of water and set them down with the water skins. "Thank you very much." I said in a calm and steady tone as the new collections of water began to move and swirl. the waters started to rise up from there vessels and accumulate into a sphere in front of me. I leaned forward onto my knees and the floating ball of water moved with me. I stepped forward slowly and stood up then ran towards the Ogre who was holding his injured foot.
Cassa saw me running towards the thing with my hands glowing and she jumped from the mangled ear she had almost destroyed. I pushed my hands outward and the water flew towards the monsters heads and disappeared into its mouths and noses. The Ogre Mage grabbed at its throats and writhed around on the ground as it slowly suffocated. "Please tend to my friends. I must stay calm to keep control over the water." My slow and even tone was raised a little as i started to sweat from the mental exertion.
The new guys ran off to check on Fenta and Alzi. Gro was carrying Fenta from the busted wall section and she was limp in his arms as if asleep. Alzi was slowly crawling on the ground towards me. Cassa saw him and helped him to his feet and gently guided him to a safer area away from the Ogre as it slowed its thrashing on the ground. The plated warrior came back and stood at my side with sword at the ready. "I have to stop the spell. Or else i won't be any good to heal them." The plated one nodded to me then ran towards Gro with the one in leather right beside him, "Hey Orc! Get ready to strike. The mageling is out of mana!" Gro nodded then all three of them ran for the monsters heads.
I stopped the spell and almost collapsed to the ground. The Ogre started a coughing fit as the water erupted from its noses and mouths. Before it had time to recover, Gro and the others hacked both its heads off and the Ogre Mage went limp, permanently.
