Chapter 34 - Destiny

When we woke up, my head hurt as if I had absorbed three spell tombs at once. I put my hands over my eyes and used my healing spell and after i felt better i did the same to Cassa while she still slept, knowing how she would feel when she woke up. The single candle that was left burning had become a hardened puddle in its holder so i remembered my Spectral Light spell and cast a small glowing orb towards the ceiling and it stayed there casting a faint blueish glow about the room.

Cassa had her head on my stomach and i pulled her close to my face and softly kissed her lips. She smiled at the light touch and i knew she wasn't sleeping anymore. "Good morning, my love." Her eyes popped open at hearing this and she wiggled her body onto mine and kissed my lips. A few moments went by like this before i finally had to speak, "We should really get up. I'm hungry." She frowned at me and pouted as she sat up and leaned back while setting on my stomach.

She finally noticed the odd glow in my room and looked up to see where it came from. She looked back to me with surprise, "Did you do that?" I smiled at her, "Yes i did." She giggled at me when i puffed up my chest. She saw my eyes gazing at her in all her glory, then leaned back with a smirk on her face until her stomach spoke up and gurgled aloud. "I think I am hungry too." She reluctantly climbed off me and got dressed. Her long sleeve black shirt that fitted all her upper curves and then she pulled on her tight leather leggings an waited for me.

After i was dressed in plain brown cotton shirt and my cloth pants we left my room and the light faded out of existence. I heard Alzi snoring when we got into the main room and Cassa laughed at him. He was laying stretched out on the table on his front with his mouth wide open and a puddle of drool had formed around his head. I figured he got up and went to the table to stretch out, but why not the floor? What ever the reason he was a sight to see but i decided to wake him, "Alzi? Time to wake up." I lightly patted his face and he stirred around the slowly opened his black eyes.

"Oh my head." He scrunched his eyes tightly in a grimace. "Let me help you." I placed my hands on his head and they began to glow. Only a moment or two was all it took before he opened his eyes and thanked me. He sat up and slid down to the bench and watched me and Cassa. I went to the larder and filled a few plates with some of the food stuffs we had and brought it out for us to eat. I made sure to leave enough for father when he got up. Master, do you remember hearing mention of the Araqiel Order?"

I looked at him confused for a second then remembered, "Yes. One of the men who attacked Grassborne mentioned it." Alzi nodded at me. "I was tasked to stay close by until you came into your power. Since i was your mothers most trusted servant, as i am now yours." I didnt know what to say to this. "I can tell you that your mother founded the Araqiel Order to combat the necromancer menace lead by Lord Vexx." I noticed the book that was left on the table had fallen to the floor. Alzi must have knocked it off in his sleep. It started glowing again when i picked it up and i opened the cover as i set it on the table.

"Please Master. Absorb your mothers diary and learn about her." Alzi handed me the cloudy white crystal and smiled. I focused on the Absord Knowledge spell and the glow flowed into the crystal then i touched it to the pages. Blinding light filled the room as i closed my eyes.

"Ered, my Son. You are finally ready to know the truth." I looked around for the source of my mothers voice and saw that i was in a huge temple of some kind. Each wall of the massive room had a mural carved into the separate stone sections. Each depicted a different battle between Humanoid people and strange monsters. I saw at the far end of the room was a massive statue of my mother.

"I am the founder and leader of the Araqiel Order. I despised the evils of Necromancers and so I gathered like minded peoples of the worlds Races to help me fight them and to oppose their God, Lord Vexx." When she finished speaking i turned around and saw my mother smiling at me. I ran to her and hugged her tight. he wrapped her arms around me and gently patted my head. "My boy. You are becoming quite the man now. And you have a beautiful wife I see." I quickly looked at her in shock and confusion. "Yes. I know everything that happens to you." She smiled at me wide enough that her high cheeks bones almost made her eyes close.

I turned a bright red in embarrassment and shied away from her gaze. She just laughed at me ans pulled me back close again, "That's a perk of being ascended. I can look in on anyone of my family i so choose." That was really disturbing I thought but I didn't know anything about being ascended, "Wait, what?" Mother pushed me back enough to look me in the eyes before she spoke again, "I have ascended, my Son. I am far from dead. But i am not of this plain of existence either." I was totally confused at this point and she didn't explain any further about the ascended thing.

"Your father told you I died giving life to you because that was the only way you would understand why i wasn't able to be around anymore." I simply nodded to her trying to understand. "Since my ascension, the Araqiel has fallen to chaos. I told Alzi to watch over you or at least stay near until you were ready to take my place as Leader of the Order." My eyes shot up at this, "Take over?!" i asked incredulously and she just nodded to me.

"How in the four hells am i supposed to do that?" She frowned at me for the language but shrugged it off, "You and your little green Princess must travel north to my Holy Temple. You must cast your Summon Elemental spell on my statue with the Bound Soul spell. My ascended form will bring the statue to life and i will explain from there..." After that, mother started glowing a golden light. I had to shield my eyes until my vision was completely blanked out and when the light finally faded i was back inside my earthen home with Cassa, Alzi and my Father staring at me.

I looked at my father after a few moments of blinking, "You lied to me. But, I now understand why."
