We left early in the morning as headed north. The camp of those necromancers was our target and we felt ready for anything. Cassa, Gro, Fenta and myself were as prepared as we would ever be. It took us all day to reach the edge of the camp as the sun was setting in the distance. "Figures the camp would be in a graveyard." Gro noticed a lot of old broken and weather worn stone blocks all over a small area. The camp consisted of nine tents in a circle around a large fire and one of them was a larger then the others. Sparsely wooded area gave good cover along with the tents being close together to block out most of the fire light with a small path between the large tent and one of the smaller ones.
"We should wait here till night" I whispered and the others agreed. Fenta let out a few of the straps on her leather chest piece and i saw small slits appear in the leather exposing creamy white flesh. I figured this was for better movement. We only counted five people in total and were a little worried about the sixth. Where could he be? I thought as we saw all of them getting ready for bed and they each went into there individual tents. As the night set in and we were starting to get bored we saw the sixth emerge from the largest tent.
As the stars came out on the clear night, the lone figure stood by the smoldering fire and his arms raised. The sun wasn't setting fast enough for our liking, we wanted to end this now. "We cant wait. We have to move now." I whispered to the group and they all nodded." We slowly crept our way down the small hillside and eased through the broken stones. "Oi. Look! 'A've already dug up some graves." Fenta grabbed Gros' arm and pointed to the end of the old grave yard. "Cant worry with that right now. We will search for the dead later." I said as we moved closer. I looked around and saw Cassa had disappeared.
I had my doubts about this whole endeavor from the start but I was hopeful of the outcome. With our planning i didn't see anything that could go wrong other then loosing the element of surprise. We stopped Behind the two tents that were separated just enough to make a path between them. I readied my shot, aimed right at the mans head. "Oi, Quickshot. Ya lady is hard at work." Fenta whispred to me and pointed at a small slit in the canvas back of the smaller tent. I just smiled while aiming, I couldn't afford to take my attention off the man as i noticed he was chanting and his hands were fuming with a black aura.
Cassa came rushing out of the cut opening from the tent and bumped into my leg. The string slipped from my fingers and the arrow flew passed the mans head and embedded into a tree in the distance. I quickly readied another arrow but the man noticed this and slammed his hands against the ground towards his own tent then shouted for the others to wake up. "Intruders!! Wake Up!!" It looked like his hands belched out black smoke that snaked its way into the large tent. I let my arrow fly as he stood up and he immediately fell over, dead. The arrow in his eye socket made sure of it. But it was already to late.
Only four men came rushing out of the tents and looking around. One of them came running through that path towards me with a small dagger in his hand. I stayed crouched down and started working on the fire spell and the summon elemental spell so i didnt notice. Fortunately Gro was still near by and he saw the man coming at me. He swung his sword from behind the tent and caught the man in the neck. The men had is hood on when he was cleanly decapitated so it looked the head was already in a bag when at landed near my feet. The body was still in motion and fell over right on top of me breaking my concentration as i fell over under it.
Unbeknownst to us, the black smoke that snaked its way into the large tent had seeped into a large pile of bones and fleshy body parts. The gruesome pile had started to quake and began to slightly move in places.
I quickly regained my composure and began my spells again as Gro and Fenta rushed the other men that came running. It was so hard to block out the screams of pain and fright that it took longer to work through machinations of the spell in my head. I was unaware of the fact that Gro and Fenta had felled the other three men as a large flame appeared in one of my hands. Now i focused on the summon spell with the red crystal in my other hand. The aura started to fill the crystal and when i thought it was charged enough i moved it close to the large flame. The flame grew exponentially in my hand and i dropped it to the ground and it spread very quickly when it landed on the corner of the larger tent.
The whole tent quickly became engulfed if flames and the slash and smash duo just stared in awe. As the flames grew i saw an a flaming hand extend from the small inferno then an arm. A foot appeared and grew into a leg then another hand. After another few seconds went by and the tent was completely consumed there stood was this massive 'female' flame elemental. Oddly enough, it sort of resembled a goblin. "Its Cassa!!" Gro pointed up to it and started to laugh as did Fenta when she realized. After the flaming 'Cassa' completely formed, looking like a flaming effigy, it looked down when it felt a fleshy and grotesque hand grab its leg.
The pile had been forming itself all the while into this misshapen thing. The creature that stood up resembled a humanoid shape. It had elongated arms that bent in odd places because of the extra bones. Like it had two elbows in both arms and two knees on each leg. The body area of this thing was huge and bulky with extra rib bones and a double spine. The only normality of this thing was it only had one head.
As it stood up, the flaming figure of Cassa had slammed its clawed hands into the putrid monstrosity's' rib cage and back then ripped pieces of it away. Doing this started the monster burning. "Lets get out of here!!" I yelled out loud and Gro and Fenta ran for the second tent next to the one Cassa had invaded. They ripped through another small slit the back of that. " 'Ome on love. Gotta go!" Fenta scooped up Cassa as she was stepping down from the freshly killed body still on its sleeping mat.
"We have Cassa, Ered!" Gro yelled to me and i looked to see them running for the edge of the graveyard. I looked back to battle of the titans and saw that the flaming giantess had faltered as the glow in my focus crystal diminished a little. I quickly realized this and regained my concentration. But, it was too late as the giant undead thing had slammed its massive fist against the flaming lady's chest and sent it backwards into one the other tents. The canvas burst into flames and it seemed as if the flaming Cassa slightly grew in size and solidified it self. 'Fuel for the fire?' i thought for a moment as she righted herself and crouched down towards the undead monster.
I held the glowing crystal out towards the other tents and they also burst into flames when the fire giantess grabbed the tops. I did notice the pressure on my consciousness lessened a little when she did that. The burning places on the bone thing were getting bigger and i had a wild idea. I focused all my attention on the thing as if I was fire myself, starving for its next meal. My fire elemental went wild as it almost flew apart and little flares started popping and crackling away from it. It leapt out towards the bone giant as it extended its fist again but that didn't stop the flames this time because the burning lady just collapsed around its fist and engulfed the monster.
The thing quickly became a burning skeleton as the bits of flesh turned to ashes and flew upwards from the intense heat. I ran as fast as i could from the burning giant and saw Gro waving at me from the little hill at the edge of the graveyard. "I have to stay linked to it. Or it will rampage out of control!" I stood on the hill with the glowing crystal in both hands. I closed my eyes and focused on the flames. I stilled my mind and thought about crouching down on the ground. My mental link to the flames was still strong enough to fight against the bone mans efforts and the flames contorted it and beat it down to the ground. The bones had been cracking and splintering from the intense inferno and the whole thing started to fall apart.
After a few minutes passed I opened my blood shot eyes and dropped to my knees on the soft grass. The burning pile of bones was almost completely reduced to ashes at this point and I slowly stopped the spell as the fire began to die. Only a few bones were still burning by now and i fell over on the grass and passed out...
