Chereads / Master Ered / Chapter 10 - New Friend?

Chapter 10 - New Friend?

"What is your name?" Ered asked as he walked up to the Orc. He had to look up to this massive creature who stood at full height. Maybe a foot or two over Ered, even at a 16 year olds height. This Orc was huge! "Gro-Bok" The Orc inclined his head as he spoke his name. Ered looked at Morlin and Cassa and wondered how they managed to keep him subdued. "Your jaw is hard like steel. my figures are broken now," I looked at my hand and it throbbed more as Gro grunted with a nod. I placed it in my other hand and closed my eyes and thought about the only spell i knew. The Orcs' eyes almost bugged out when he saw my hands glowing a faint white. "Damned Mages!" He spat when the realization crossed his mind and then left to inspect his companions. Morlin walked with Gro, mainly to keep an eye on him. My hand was almost completely healed of damage when Cassa surprised me by hugging my waist. "Stupid Ered ok?" she nuzzled my shirt and i stiffened at the sudden affections. I swallowed hard, "Y-yeah. I'm ok," i swear i could almost hear a light purring from her. I was so confused at her actions and sort of sat down as my legs gave out from the expenditure of my mental energy.

Cassa fell over with me and landed in my lap. She yelped when her ear brushed against my chest and gently rubbed it. "Stupid Orc. Almost tore ear off!" She grimaced an hung her head low. I just couldnt bare to see her in pain. I didn't even realize when i gently put my hands on her ears. She glared at me and i just warmly smiled with half lidded eyes. My hands started glowing and i gently massaged her ears and she stiffened up. Her breathing became heavy and she started fidgeting in my lap as i slowly caressed her ears. It only took a few moments to ease the pain but what i didnt know was not only was the pain being relieved but also all the torn ridges were slowly closing up. When i was finished and the pointed green ears showed no markings or damage of any kind we both passed out, me falling backwards in the grass and she collapsed in my lap.

it was already mid-day when i woke up. my head felt like Gro was pounding on it. I quickly sat up looking around and saw this massive dark grey form standing with his back to me. Arms crossed and his jagged sword hanging on his side. He grunted as he nodded to me then turned around and continued to stand there. I felt something in my lap move and looked down to see Cassa still sleeping. She had a faint smile on her cute little face and i subconsciously placed my hand on her head and gently brushed the loose strands of hair behind her perfect ears. I froze when i saw in full sunlight that her ears were in fact perfect. 'Perfectly Healed!' i thought then inspected my hand when the nights events slammed to the forefront of my vision causing another burst of pain in my head. I looked around and saw Morlin was just waking up. I turned to him and asked if i could have another drink. He tossed me the his flask when he saw the bags under my eyes and lightly laughed. He knew magic and he was well aware of the mental strain it took to wield.

"We have better drink at home," Gro grunted when he heard me. "Will your people be hospitable towards us?" I half spat as i drank hard from the flask. I recapped it and tossed it back to Morlin. "I will explain, Master." Gro spat the last word and then left towards his home. I shook my head and did my best to pick Cassa up from my lap. She wriggled around feeling my arms around her and smiled as she reached for my neck. I thought for a second 'is she churring at me'? Then quickly shook my head when i saw her jaw fall open and she lightly snored at me. Still asleep. After i placed Cassa on the cart, me and Morlin gathered our camp sight and repacked it, then we headed down the road to the Orc Keep.

After about an hour or so we arrived at the Orc Keep. The sentries stopped and stared at us until Morlin stood up and greeted them, "Greetings, friends. I am a humble traveling merchant with my two companions. We wish only to barter if you will permit us entry!" Dead silence for a few moments until the creaking of old wood was heard as the main gate slowly began to rise from the dirt. "Guess that means yes," i whispered to Morlin and he agreed so we slowly entered the keep.

All eyes were upon us as we came up the main road inside the wooden walls. We stopped in front of the largest of the buildings and the front door flew open. Out stepped this massively huge Orc male dressed in full armor. It had a greenish tint to it and it looked very unrefined in its appearance. A huge battle ax hung at his side that could easily take more then my two hands to wield and it was also of the same make of the armor and resembled the sword Gro was carrying because the ax too had a jagged edge. When the giant Orc saw us he burst out in laughter and the rest of the other Orcs joined him. Except for Gro who stepped out beside the large male and just hung his head in shame. I could plainly see the large whelp on his jaw now in the daylight and my eyes went wide. 'Did i do that?'
