We finally managed to find a seat near the edge of the crowd. We sat down and let out a sigh of relief, I looked at Callum "Thanks for pulling me to the ground and keeping me safe,"
"No problem, I guess dad instincts sorta kicked in,"
"Dad instincts? See me as your daughter aye?"
"No, not at all! Just didn't want a child like you getting hurt or killed.."
"I'm teasing you, Kinpatsu no shōnen!"
"Hey! I nearly forgot about the nicknames!"
We both giggled to ourselves, I did see Callum as a dad figure already though, he was kind and knew how to take care of me. I just hoped nothing else would happen but boy was I wrong...
"Right, we better head off on foot then, probably less dangerous." He stood up and brushed himself off. His smile was back and it gave me more energy, I sprung up. "Which way was the train going? Maybe we could go the same way." I thought that maybe if we somehow follow the train tracks we would end up somewhere. Even the places in between cities in Japan are full of buildings and people living in their homes. "No harm in trying but we should still stay close to buildings just in case.."
Callum pointed to the front of the train and we started walking. I didn't know how long it would take but I knew it would be quite awhile. As we were walking we could hear the bustling of the town next to us. We were next to a mesh fence that had bushes and vines crawling all over it, we couldn't see through but the sound could definitely make its way through. The bush was an evergreen colour with a few flowers sprouting. It looked like it was taken care of but it was still in bad condition. I imagined that the otherside was beautiful with flowers covering the bush splashed with so many colours. I had to distract myself somehow so I resorted to imagining things better than they are at the moment. Callum then started speaking
"To get to Tokyo from Kyoto it should take about 4 days if we just walk at an average speed, with only a few breaks…"
"Never said it wouldn't take long!" I tried being optimistic but I was scared for what was ahead. There's so many things that could happen in that period of time so hopefully we can get there quickly and not get into any trouble on the way.
Nothing much happened on the first day other than the train attack, I was trying to distract myself and forget about it but I couldn't help but think, Why did they attack our train and what were they looking for? I had so many questions and so many of them couldn't be answered, I didn't want to bombard Callum with questions because I knew he would know as much as I did. I looked at Callum after a few minutes of walking, I wasn't majorly tired but we would probably have a break at some point.
"Something's bothering you, isn't there?" I asked Callum this because he was twiddling his thumbs and sorta mumbling.
"I'm just thinking, that's all..!"
"Thinking about what?"
"Just questioning things, I guess, like the train attack and, more stuff.."
"I mean..We're alive aren't we?"
"Yea, but thats not really the point.."
I looked down, I don't want us to get hurt but if I have to risk my life to get a better life soon, I would.
