"You're thinking too narrow with water release, toss out those conventions that water & cold are inseparable, water is by far the most versatile of the base 5 chakra releases, and is capable of three natural states of the existence."
"Hold up," Rin spoke before digging in her bag and pulling out a notebook.
I didn't talk with Rin much.
"Water is capable of being ice cold & melting hot."
The most I ever did was the rare times we were both working in the hospital.
"A gas."
Even then our relationship has always been one of curiosity.
"A solid."
She had interesting questions.
"Really heavy!"
I liked to talk.
Rin forces me to better understand my own views.
"Take cooking as an example."
"Cooking?" She tapped the table with her pencil.
"Yeah, water is whatever you need it to be in cooking, hot & cold, ice or steam, the weather as well, largely influenced by moisture… never forget moisture."
Gotta remember that one.
"And with chakra," I lifted my cup of tea, it was at best warm, "we can mimic all those aspects," it didn't take long for the tea to heat back up.
"That's fire release though."
"Yes, something I would recommend you begin training in as well, and don't really mean ninjutsu, just being able to convert your chakra in a timely fashion would do, it's what I do with lighting release.
Let's swing back around to the versatility of water.
"Ice release."
"Boil release."
"Kekkei genkai, but you need to get born with those?"
"Oh don't worry it's on the list."
"Huh, list?"
"You things I'll believe when I mess around with it myself, but until then, there are other means."
"Like fire release." Rin spoke connecting things herself.
Though now influenced by my bias
"Like fire release," I repeated, dunking my finger in and pulling out the now steaming bubble of water.
Rin stared at me transfixed by my genius.
I couldn't held myself.
Reaching up with my other hand I had to actually really focus on keeping the bubble going while I cooled it with wind release.
Before flicking it in her face.
She just sighed, "Really?"
Seems I've disappointed her.
Distraction time.
"Hey guess who's saying on us?" I said suddenly.
Rin was currently putting away her stuff.
"Hmm… who," she said a bit excited to know before they knew, that she knew, which was always entertaining.
Especially if they never knew.
"Kakashi, Obito, and Kushina, who really just gave them away, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Minato was up there as well."
"To keep them from doing something stupid or course," Rin spoke, keeping her attention on me, "where are they?"
"Well they know I'm a sensor-nin, so actually quite far, except Minato, he could be under this table for all I know."
She went to look.
"Anything?"
"No… but he's fast enough that if he was, he could've just moved before I looked," Rin spoke, embracing my paranoia.
"All the way down the road, I believe they are trying to shroud themselves within a shinobi bar,"
Would've likely worked without Kushina.
"What should we do?" She asked.
"Something simple, yet evil."
Grabbing a menu I set it up folded so it would block us from view should we lean forward, giving us some much needed privacy so we could… continue to talk.
Seems Rin caught on and leaned forward on her elbows.
I did the same.
I'm sure those four have some kind of spyglass.
"Oh all three of their chakras spiked!" I cackled.
"This is mean," Rin said, though she couldn't stop her smile.
"Yeah… so which one are you gonna marry?" I suddenly blurt out.
At the mention of marriage Rins cheek marks got a flush backdrop.
I leaned back to avoid an attempt on my life.
This is gonna live in their heads forever.
