Chapter 2 - I am the Sacred Temple Knight

Translated by: Skyfarrow and Loki

Darkness.

A valley of darkness.

In this darkness, the young boy's consciousness was gradually recovering.

"Where?"

"Where is this?"

"Where am I?"

As the young boy's consciousness became clearer, questions flooded in.

The boundless darkness enveloped him, silent without any comeback.

The hope inside his heart slowly dissipated. He tried to look at himself, but found that he could not see himself.

The confusion inside his heart increased.

"So, who am I?"

"Who am I?"

"Why… Why am I trapped here?"

The sober young boy's impatience grew. Although the darkness was safe, it was also unchanging. It felt like a cage that was trapping him.

Naturally, he wanted to break free and get out of this place.

"I want to leave!"

"But where should I go?"

"Without a road to let me walk on?"

"Is there even a path at all?

As if to reply to the young boy's confusion, a small light began in this never ending darkness.

The light was orange in colour, and was very faint.

It was almost like nothing was there, almost unseen.

Yet in this black world that was completely dark, the faint orange light was also very much clear.

This caught the full attention of the teenager.

He tried to get closer to the dim light.

He did not know how much time had passed when he managed to get closer, and it felt like the orange light had grown bigger than before.

"Where is that?"

"Could it be a way to let me get out?"

With the desire to escape the darkness, the young lad became more eager and impatient to get closer to the orange light.

It was at this moment.

"ROAR!!!"

A loud beast cry that startled the heavens suddenly shook the whole dark space.

The orange light was like a frightened little animal; it abruptly extinguished, and thus the young boy woke up with a start.

At the very second when he opened his eyes, he saw a giant wolf with a wide-opened maw jumping down from the sky!

The young boy was still lying on the ground.

His mind was blank and empty, and the emotion of fear had no time to materialise - yet his body was the first to react.

Turn over and kick!

In the spur of moment, his whole body was like a crossbow chariot, his legs being the giant arrows that would be shot out.

Clash!

The juvenile's legs kicked squarely onto the huge wolf's flank, and with that one strike, the wolf was ruthlessly kicked away into the air.

He then put his hands onto the ground and pushed himself upright with a sudden burst of energy.

"There's someone?" Through a hurried glance as he got up, he realised the young girl Zi Di.

It was a short glance that did not give him much time to think.

The giant wolf was a tremendous threat to him, making his heart pound. His mind was quickly flooded with the emotion of fear.

"This is a white silver levelled demon beast!"

The danger remained!

The young boy's vision was locked onto the giant wolf.

Plop!

There was a huge splash.

The large wolf had been kicked by the young man and was unable to change its direction in mid-air, thus falling into the river after flying in an arc.

This was not weird, as Zi Di was originally right by the riverside, so the distance to the river was close.

When the savage wolf dropped into the river, it gave out alarmed howls. It used all its strength treading the waters, trying to get back ashore as fast as it could.

Suddenly, green shadows emerged from the water.

These green shadows were like thick pythons. They moved violently, creating endless giant splashes.

In a flash, the green shadows had the large wolf tightly bundled, and started to drag it into the water.

Blub blub blub!

The river was no longer calm, turbid waves began surging. Immediately the vibrant red color started to bloom like a flower, it is wolf blood!

The wolf blood started to spread rapidly along the river.

In just a few breathes, the terrifying sound of the wolf completely disappeared and the river surface returned to its calm state

The blood of the wolf mixed with the turbid river and it faded quickly following the flow of the river.

The surroundings quickly returned to its calm state.

It was as if nothing had happened before, the evil wolf was gone and the mysterious and horrifying green shadow had hidden itself again, it was as if the previous battle of life and death did not happen.

The teenager witnessed all of it happening and felt that his heart was beating rapidly.

" What the hell is this place?!"

Feeling horrified, he started to look around until he finally turned to face Zi Di.

"Where is this?"

Zi Di's face was shocked and didn't move a muscle, she was just like a statue.

Hearing the young man's question, the young lady started to react.

"Lord!" She was so excited that she rushed into the arms of the young man like a frightened kitten.

A fragrant jade beauty that was being cuddled by him.

The young man looked at the girl in his arms and was at a loss for a moment.

"Thank goodness, my Lord, you finally woke up!" The girl hugged the young man tightly, "Lord, you woke up!"

The young man patted her shoulders, then he proceeded to push Zi Di away slightly.

Zi Di looked at the young man with excitement and surprise, her actions showing her inner feelings.

The young man looked at the girl in his arms and her heart seemed to miss a beat.

Her delicate face was full of tenderness, her eyes were slightly red and she was crying. She had a pair of beautiful purple eyes that were reminiscent of amethyst, adding a touch of charm to her brilliance.

"Looks like that giant wolf must have frightened her a lot." a gentle feeling emerged in his heart and he asked "excuse me… who are you?"

The girl was stunned, her eyes widening, looking at the young man, without moving her eyes.

Looking at each other for a few seconds.

The young man's serious expression and confusion caused the girl to become startled and worried. She quickly introduced herself and said " I am Zi Di, my Lord. I am your fiancée."

"Fiancée?" the young man frowned.

He knew what a fiancée was, he just didn't expect the young lady in front of him to be so close to him.

"Zi Di..." he savoured the name.

However it was a completely unfamiliar name for the young man.

As the young man started to think deeper, his eyebrows started to furrow. "Wait a minute, I...who am I?"

He realised that he had forgotten his own identity.

When he tried to remember his relevant memories, it was as if his mind was empty.

"You're Zhen Jin, you are Baron Zhen Jin. Oh my god, Lord, have you even forgotten your own identity?" Zi Di's face was anxious and her anxiety was increasing.

"Zhen Jin, I am Zhen Jin? Why do I not remember anything?" the young man frowned, feeling very puzzled and distressed.

"Oh my god, why would this happen!?" Zi Di felt bewildered.

But soon her eyes shined with the light of thinking, shaking her head. "Lord, maybe… your head has been hit violently, causing you to have amnesia temporarily. There has been a similar case before."

"Lord, we suffered a shipwreck a few days ago. There had been a violent storm, the ship capsized and the survivors fled to this island….. there are many missing people including you. I followed the clues deep into the rainforest when I found you Lord, you were in a coma and I have tried numerous ways without being able to successfully wake you up."

"Wait, maybe it's because my means of waking you up had been destroyed while it was waking you up. If that's the case then I'm really sorry, my Lord. I had no other choice at that point in time.

Zi Di pointed her finger at Zhen Jin's chest, there were still many crystal fragments attached to it.

The young man Zhen Jin lowered his head and saw the crystal fragments adhering to his chest, "so, you were the one that woke me up?"

Then the young lady informed the young man of what she had been through in detail and that she had the idea and took the risk of using the white crystal to treat the young man.

Those words immediately made the young man look at the young lady and praised her, "I didn't realise that it was so dangerous before, thank you. Umm…. Zi Di."

The young man gently called out the young lady's name.

"But Lord, you may have lost your memories because of this," Zi Di whispered, still feeling worried and guilty about it.

Seeing the guilt on the girl's face becoming more intense, the young man's heart softened and he immediately comforted her. "It's not your fault, Zi Di. On the contrary, I would also like to thank you. If you didn't make such a wise choice, I'm afraid I wouldn't have woken up in time. Then I would have been eaten by the giant wolf at that moment."

"Let's set the problem concerning my memory aside for now. What we need to do now is to leave this dangerous place."

Although there hadn't been much communication between them, the young man had just woken up and experienced a tussle between life or death. He deeply understood the danger of this place and his first thought was to leave.

"Please wait a moment."

The young lady tried to pick up as much of the broken fragments of crystal as she could. Actually, most of the crystal fragments were still attached to the clothes of the young man.

"Maybe these fragments will have some assistance towards recovering Lord's memories in the future."

Zi Di held these fragments in the palm of her hands and carefully handed them to the young man. The young man looked at the fragments and saw that some of it were grey stone fragments, and some were milky crystals.

He couldn't help but think back to when he was in a coma and thought to himself, could it be that the light I saw in the darkness came from this crystal?

"What are these?" Zhen Jin felt curious.

"Angel's Tears." According to Zi Di's explanation, it was a rather high-level magic ingredient.

"This island is weird, both magic and battle qi cannot be used. I used Angel's Tears to awaken Lord, but it was also just a gamble."

"This is a restricted magic domain?" Zhen Jin found that he still had his general knowledge. He shook his head, "There is no absolute restricted magic domain. The key is to look at the difference in power."

"Yes, Lord." Zi Di looked at the fragments in his hand. "High-level magic ingredients like Angel's Tears can still be barely used here. And my magic is only Black Iron level, it is suppressed by the environment here and there is no way to use it."

"Why don't you help me take care of it first," Zhen Jin found himself empty-handed, and saw the fine leather bag around Zi Di's waist.

"Alright!" The girl nodded vigorously, opened her waist pack, exposing the bottles and jars inside.

It was a beautifully crafted potions purse.

She took an adult-sized finger bottle out of it, placed the fragments into it, covered it with a soft stopper and placed it in the most secure layer in the waist pack.

"Lord, please let me check your body," Zi Di fastened her potion purse, her head lifting slightly as she looked at Zhen Jin with a pair of bright and concerned purple eyes.

"I'm a low-level magician," Zi Di introduced herself. "Although I can't use my magic now, all my knowledge is still there."

Zhen Jin nodded.

Magicians are usually very knowledgeable, even if they are young.

The young lady carefully inspected Zhen Jin chest, body, ears etc.

As Zhen Jin felt the tender hands of a girl groping around on his body, his heart was rippling.

Finally, Zi Di approached Zhen Jin's face, carefully observing if there was anything unusual in the pupils of the young man.

The distance between the two parties was so close that they could feel each other's breath.

The girl's breath had a certain sweetness; Zhen Jin's heart felt itchy and he turned his head slightly, not looking at her directly.

While Zi Di was examining him, he was also checking himself. Zi Di had wheat-coloured skin while he had white-coloured skin.

Zhen Jin also vaguely felt that, even though he had a thin figure, his body seemed to be hiding a formidable strength.

He kept stretching his ten fingers, then proceeded to make a fist. He remembered the scene where he sent the giant wolf flying with his kick, he realised that there was a power lying dormant in his body.

This power was obviously unusual.

"Zi Di, how old am I?"

"Lord, you are 16 this year while I am 15," the girl said while looking very serious as she examined Zhen Jin's body.

"Okay." The young lady stopped moving, took a step back and let out a relieved sigh. "Lord, presently your body only has bruises. From the surface, there seems to be no problem, however the conditions are too crude and I would only be able to do a detailed medical examination for you in the future."

Zhen Jin nodded and continued to ask, "So am I a magician? What type of strength do I have?"

Zi Di shook her head, "Lord, you practise battle qi, you are a Sacred Temple Knight!"

"Sacred Temple Knight?" The young man hesitated for a while. Immediately a memory from somewhere came to mind.

In a bright and magnificent white temple, the sun shone through the towering colourful stained glass.

A group of teenagers were gathered together and Zhen Jin found himself amongst the group of teenagers.

The lofty atmosphere was sublime and solemn with an eager atmosphere.

Zhen Jin and the others swore:

I swear to love the living God, the lord of the great empire, Emperor Sheng Ming!

I swear to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors, to be brave!

I swear to protect my loved ones, to be fearless!

I swear to treat my friends with good faith, rejecting hypocrisy!

I swear my love will be constant and faithful, never to die!

I swear to fight bravely, to be kind to the weak!

I swear to be fair, to fight all mistakes!

From today onwards, I am a Sacred Temple Knight!

The scene in the memory quickly disappeared.

"Lord, did you remember anything?" Zi Di asked with anticipation when she noticed the strangeness of Zhen Jin.

Zhen Jin nodded, "I remembered the moment I solemnly swore to become a Sacred Temple Knight."

Zi Di listened and her eyes brightened up. "Lord, maybe you can try and see if you can use any battle qi?"

Zhen Jin pinched his fist and tried to recall it. After a while, he frowned and shook his head with a bitter smile. "No, I do not have any memories concerning battle qi, I didn't even notice any traces of it in my body and I don't know how to use it."

Zi Di's eyes darkened a little and comforted, "Perhaps the time has not come yet. But it doesn't matter, Lord. At least this proves that your memory can be restored! It will... just take some time."

Zhen Jin nodded, thinking to himself that although the girl in front of him was weak, she was optimistic and tenacious. Ever since he woke up, she had been comforting him.

However, there were still tears on the girl's cheek at the moment.

All of his fingernails were damaged and bleeding. Both of his feet were exposed to the grass and he did not have time to put on his boots.

Although Zi Di gave a brief description, he realised the previous situation was really dangerous and could be described as dancing between life or death.

The most praiseworthy thing was that no matter how dangerous the situation, the girl never gave up on him who was in a coma. Inseparable apart from life and death.

The oath of the Sacred Temple Knight was still ringing in his ear.

"It turns out I am a knight, a noble Sacred Temple Knight!" Zhen Jin felt that his body was glorious, and he tilted his head up slightly, feeling proud in his heart.

At the same time, a warm feeling was rippling in Zhen Jin's heart.

"Then, let me take care of you from now on. Strong purple-eyed girl, my…. fiancée," Zhen Jin swore in his heart.

Note: The words for Zhen Jin means Needle Gold.
