Chapter 1 - The Cabin

Farmer Jonah Logged in.

Architect Arthur logged in.

Two boys spawned into a clearing in the midst of a forest. They were greeted by a transparent screen.

{Welcome to the Cabin!}

*Farmer Jonah, a tall blue-haired boy with black eyes wearing a sweater vest looked around.

*Architect Arthur, a boy with wavy golden-brown hair and light brown eyes wearing a light orange hoodie did the same.

FJ: So this is it? He wasn't lying.

AA: *whistles*

The two pulled up their menus to inspect the games features but the only thing they found was a tab named "history" and "camper"

History:

[unnamed camp]

Campers: 2

lvl: 1

achievements: 0

furniture: 0

items: 0

titles: [The first camp in existence] [The Twin owners of the South West Woods]

#of cabins: [none built]

#of land: 1

[Farmer Jonah]

Camper Type: Farmer

{These sorts of campers can look after themselves well when left alone, when with others they hold the group together from behind the scenes. Farmers acquire an extra quantity of items when harvesting natural resources, earn Exp faster when gardening, and have a higher chance of taming or befriending a non-human thing. *When a monster is killed by a farmer, the chance of the monster dropping meat, vegetables, or feces is high.}

Traits: Studious, lone wolf, green thumb

{Traits are the camper's personality type, it's completely independent of the camper type. For example, a player can complete the quiz and acquire the "Farmer" class even though they themselves are not studious or probably never touched a plant in their life. The camper receives a buff whenever they are in their element- doing something related to traits.}

Hobbies: Cooking, gardening, and studying.

Outfit: Sweater vest uniform

{This outfit increases the chance of the camper gaining more Exp}

[Architect Arthur]

Camper Type: Architect

{If you were to be stranded on an island, an architect is a must-have. Architects are keen observers who quickly understand the way things are constructed as well as its function. Because they are visionaries, campers don't need a book to learn how to construct something they can figure it out. They can make their own recipe/blueprints, they can also investigate objects and figure out the ingredients and recipe to make something. Architects earn Exp faster when they are creating/investigating things, the more they create one of the same items, they acquire mastery and the qualities and effect of the item rises exponentially. Architects also gain Exp faster from killing things with their own creations.}

Traits: Observant, All-rounder, Caniving

Hobbies: Hanging out with elders, watching people.

Outfit: Hoodie and baggy pocket pants

{This outfit expands campers inventory by +5 for the hoodie and +4 for each pocket}

FJ: Seriously? We're the first players? I was expecting more people.

Architect Archer crouched on the ground to poke at a patch of daisies.

AA: So real... Was this really created by just one person?

FJ: That's what was said...this game received complaints about being hard and unbalanced right? Let's start looking for resources. It's morning now but I heard it's supposed to be dangerous at night.

AA: Ooooh? Like Mine*****?

FJ: Mmmm. Want to split up?

AA: Sure, let's come back to this spot later.

They parted ways. Both gathered all the resources in their path, twigs, grass, stones, vines, mushrooms, and berries.

*~

{one chapter of the South West woods completed!}

The boys returned to the clearing huffing and puffing with their hauls. There were no inventories, they had to carry items in their arms, pockets. Architecture Arthur had tucked some of his haul in-between his legs and resorted to hopping.

FJ: Okay, we got a bunch of stuff...wait, what are you doing?

AA: *weaving grass together*

Though Arthur seemed to be sweating his expression was tranquil as he focused on the task at hand. His fingers flew about as if on fire.

AA: (^ u ^)I'm making a basket, it was really inconvenient having to carry everything here, you know?

FJ: Oh... yeah. Then, I'll go get some more supplies while you do that. We'll need as much as possible in order to bunker down and build a campfire.

AA: To be honest it's not the campfire I'm worried about but the monsters..This game isn't like Don't St**** where you're safe so long as you have a source of light.

FJ: Well...

Jonah sighed and placed a hand on his hip.

FJ: You're right, but let's focus on making the necessities first.

AA: I know, I'm just talking out loud, if this game wasn't so realistic I wouldn't mind. I'm not so good when it comes to realistic horror graphics.

FJ: Urm. I'm leaving now.

He wasn't either... Damn, they're so screwed. To think the only ones from the group to accept the invite would be the two cowards of the group.

A while after Jonah left a loud DING! Notification sound could be heard. Both boys looked up in time to see the same screen before them.

{Chance Announcement:

There's a trunk full of tools and supplies on the North East Mountain, if you get there within the allotted time 1:00:00, the land will be added to your Camp's territory.}

Upon seeing this a mini screen with a megaphone appeared before both voices enabling them to hear each other cry out.

FJ: Event, there's an event already?!

AA: Whoa, for real?

FJ: I think I'm close by but it seems too convenient, how far is it?

A screen showing a map appeared as well as their locations. A blue boy icon for Jonah, orange for Arthur and a red mark for the destination.

FJ: That actually doesn't seem too far from me.

It actually was far but compared to Jonah's location he really was the closest Arthur folded his arms and hummed.

AA: So... you're going?

FJ: Yeah. You stay there and set up camp.

AA: ...I mean, wearing a hoodie gives me five extra slots in my inventory space, my pockets are deep and they give me 4 extra slots each too...

FJ: Since I'm a farmer, I get an extra amount whenever I find something. Also, I've already strayed out of the South West Woods, and am currently in the North West, so...

AA: But...you have resources on you right now right? Won't your inventory be full by the time you get there?

FJ: Ah...

AA: We don't have weapons so what'll you'll do if you meet monsters?

FJ: I'll craft something on the way!

AA: This game is pretty realistic, I can make baskets because I've made them before how are you actually gonna craft a weapon, do you even know how?

FJ: Don't you think you're being unnecessarily cautious here? Seriously, I'll figure something out!

AA: it's like that then just go. Leave the resources on hand on the ground I'm heading over now to collect.

FJ: Farmer Jonah begrudgingly did so.

He tapped at the screen in front of him to zoom in on his destination accidentally clicking a spot.

FJ: oooh! I can leave markers. I'm gonna leave my location here then!

AA: That's convenient, thanks.

Arthur's voice sounded lighter. Jonah headed out feeling slightly nervous, there was no tutorial or anything so he didn't know what to expect. On his way he acquired a piece of wood and some sharp rocks and tried sharpening the tip of it but the wood broke. He rummaged around for a chunky piece of wood. Whenever he encountered a rock that was big or sharp he would pick it up.

(privately)FJ: Guess I'll rough it out with these. Sticks and stones can break bones after all...

Meanwhile ...

It didn't take long before Farmer Jonah encountered his first hostile. He thought it was a sheep at first but the closer he got the more uneasy he felt as the sheep squared up and glared at him, it had the body of a sheep but it's face...

FJ: a woolen wolf?

The woolen wolf skinned up it's adorable face to growl at him, he began to bark saliva dripping from its mouth.

There was no way he was going to try to take it on for close combat. No way, absolutely no frocking way. He fished out a stone and took a pitching stance of his own.

The stone collided into it's face, specifically drawing blood on it's eye and the woolen wolf ran off bleating like a horse sheep.

FJ: A wolf sheep what the hell is with that combination? so fucking creepy...but for a moment it looked kinda cute.

Scared it might come back, Jonah broke out into a jog.

He encountered some more of them but they all ran away when he scared them off with his point blank throws. He was begining to feel shitty watching the stones injure the creatures each and every time. More importantly because of his softness he wasn't earning any experience points since he didn't kill them...

[Farmer Jonah unlocked the intimidation stat!]

FJ: So that's a thing? Interesting.

A bear bolted at the sight of him.

Jonah's heart stopped in his chest. He hadn't even realized it because it blended in the shadows of the forest. The closer he got to his destination the denser the trees became as he ventured uphill making it hard to tell what was around him.

Farmer Jonah held his chest.

FJ: thank...thank goodness!

[Farmer Jonah has acquired a trunk!]

Arthur received a notification fifty minutes later. He blinked at the screen and had nearly forgotten Farmer Jonah as well as the time. A voice call screen appeared and out came Farmer John's voice.

FJ: There's a lot of loot here! An inventory bag? Nice!

AA: Seriously? Thanks! So what was it like?

FJ: I just walked here and got an achievement.

AA: There weren't any monsters or anything? Do you think you'll be able to come back before the sun sets?

FJ: Yeah… If I run.

~

Night had fallen over the South West woods. The tree leaves which were an unusual navy blue color began to glow a fiery orange color and radiated a warmth upon it turning night.

Architect Arthur wondered aloud if building a fire was necessary.

As Farmer Jonah and Architect Arthur sat down at the fire, enjoying the view, the trees shimmied from the wind passing through.

A screen of all their achievements for the day faded into view like a post-credit scene at the end of a movie.

FJ: Awesome! You were pretty busy crafting, weren't you?

AA: That's my job brah, though there were a lot of things I didn't have the resources to make. I can't exactly say I was productive.

FJ: * stares* You're kidding...right?

AA: :-?

The total amount of things acquired:

Farmer Jonah: 157

Architect Arthur: 83

FJ: Ah, that reminds me! The trunk!

Farmer John took something out of his inventory, it materialized on the ground in between the two.

Jonah opened the igloo and peered inside. The igloo itself was empty but inside it, an inventory screen popped up with various items.

AA:Another inventory item... we can refrigerate consumables in here?

[The Cabin has acquired the recipe to make an igloo!]

AA: What's this? Gatcha tickets? They all have different colors and symbols.

FJ: Ooooh, there's one for a cabin!

AA: But I wanted to build one… I didn't get to finish the grass house I was working on others because you kept demanding baskets!

FJ: B-but It'll be dangerous at night! Think about it, how long will it take for you to make a basket, it'll just be a wasted effort when we can just use this ticket!

AA: Fine

Farmer John tore the ticket into two and a cozy stone cabin with a chimney appeared.

[The unnamed camp has acquired small cabin]

[Recipe for basic furniture kit unlocked]

[Recipe for basic decorations kit unlocked]

Warning: The Camp: *Unnamed* has acquired a building, establishing a lot. At night creatures will come to attack, without a guardian statue or blessed fence the camp will be at risk of getting raided.

Farmer Jonah: (- 0 -) oh. Well shit.

Architect Arthur ripped a ticket.

Farmer Jonah: What was that one?

A guardian statue that looked like a chubby woman holding a stick over the shoulder carrying two buckets materialized.

[The Camp: [unnamed] has acquired a laborer's statue. At night, she splashes trespassers with the contents of her bucket.]

FJ: So the statue moves?

AA: That's pretty cool! Do you think if I ever make my own, it'll move too?

FJ: Depends on your class skill? I don't know!

AA: Man, I really want to craft a bunch! (* u *)

FJ: That's all good and dandy and all. Help me make some planters! There's a bunch of nails and even an iron ax in the trunk!

AA: Really? Thank goodness! I really couldn't make much without these!

Even at night, the two did not rest.
